Default Statement: Training to remain open to the public!

Bayern Munich have upset a large section of their own fans with the announcement that next season fans will not be permitted to watch the team train at their Sabener Strasse headquarters.

New trainer Jürgen Klinsmann wants to create an atmosphere of tranquillity at the club’s training headquarters by getting rid of the restaurant and turning it into a luxury team room for the players.

This would also mean no access for the fans, who regularly come to watch the team train.

Despite plans to hold special training sessions at the Allianz Arena, the move has been denounced as "a mess" by disgruntled fans, who claim they are being "treated like rubbish".

The new team room would include beds for the players to sleep in, as the club plan to introduce an eight-hour day.

"It's a new culture for the Bundesliga" Rummenigge said. "The players will be able to get some rest between training.

"Jürgen simply wants to make everything professional. He wants to give his players the chance to rest. Also some professionals live nearby and have the chance to go home for lunch, but that is an unnecessary trip.

"An eight-hour day has been typical in Italian football for a long time. We will have them here from breakfast through to afternoon coffee. And there will be the possibility to sleep now."

The news has however upset a number of fans with letters being written to tabloid newspaper Bild in complaint. "I have two children who want to see their stars up close. I feel like a paying victim. Like a cow, they milk us for money and nothing is given back" one fan wrote.

A large number of fans have threatened to stop going to watch the Bundesliga leaders, with one saying: "It's a mess! Children, who want to see their idols, are being treated like rubbish. If this continues in such a way, I will return my season ticket."

He's starting off with the wrong foot, if you ask me.

The fact that we let our fans watch the players train gives us a bonus. No other top European team permits that.

Someone should stop this.

I Agree with you, I hope he changes this idea, otherwise we will lose a lot of fans like this.

Actually the club has immediately adressed a statement, public view in team training will continue even in 2008/09 season. Klinsmann's idea seems not liked from the board.

BAYERN WILL NOT SHUT FANS OUT

Bayern Munich have denied reports the club's training sessions will take place behind closed doors from next season.

It had been reported that incoming coach Jurgen Klinsmann wanted to keep fans out of Bayern's Sabener Strasse training facilities when he takes over from Ottmar Hitzfeld in the summer.

But the club released a press release on Thursday to alleviate fans' fears.

It read: "The closeness to the fans and the closeness of the fans to FC Bayern, which is unparalleled throughout Germany and Europe, is a philosophy of the club.

"Nothing should and nothing will change with regard to that. Even in the 2008/09 season and beyond, training sessions will be open to the public at the Sabener Strasse."

The official statement from the club, regarding the issue:

Quote:
Club statement - Training to remain open to the public

The FC Bayern Munich board of directors has observed with surprise and incomprehension an ongoing media debate regarding training sessions in the 2008-9 season, a debate which was neither caused nor confirmed by ourselves.

FC Bayern Munich hereby clearly states that public training sessions at the Säbener Strasse practice ground will continue into and including the new season. Close relations with our fans, and having the fans close to FC Bayern, is a guiding principle at our club, a principle we practice at FC Bayern in Munich to an extent hardly seen anywhere else in Germany and Europe. We do not wish this to change, and it will not change: from 2008-9 and beyond, the senior squad will continue to train in public at the Säbener Strasse.

Independently from this, FC Bayern Munich confirms its decision to replace the Insider club restaurant with a players' facility, allowing them to perform their duties as professional footballers more intensively, with greater focus and more professionally. This is clearly also in the interest of Bayern's many fans, who want the team to achieve the greatest possible success.
