The big questions ahead of Sunday's meeting of the first and third placed sides regard the fitness of the playmakers on each side.
Franck Ribery of Bayern and Hamburg's Rafael van der Vaart were ruled out on Thursday because of injury and the two men are doubtful again.

HSV playing without VdV hurts them a lot more than us playing with Ribery.
As you could see on thursday, we put a great show against Aberdeen, whereas HSV got a goalless draw at home against FC Zürich, an inferior side to Aberdeen

With Van Der Vaart out, Hamburg won't be as dangerous. But that's just me.
My prediction, 2-1 victory for Bayern, with Toni scoring both goals.

^ I agree with all of you that without VdV they won't be as effective. VdV is their main scorer, just like Diego is Werders, but Bayern have their main scorers available. They are tough in defense though, and they have some other great midfielders like Jarolim who scored twice last week. So they still are dangerous. The question is how we will take our chances. I hope that Klose gets a little more selfish and tries to score instead of passing. Also, what midfield lineup will we see. I was surprised by the Aberdeen selection, so against hamburg will Kroos start again?

I very much doubt it. I'm almost sure that Hitzfeld will revert back to his 'usual' XI:
......................Kahn
Sagnol....Lucio...v Buyten....Lahm
................MvB.....ZeRo
Hamit..........................Schweini
...............Klose....Toni

Your probably right, but mixing it up and taking risks seems to catch these teams off guard rather than sticking with the norm. Hitzfeld knows what he is doing, but I wander if he will throw out a surprise. Also, will Jansen start? Lahm hadn't been looking as good as Jansen on the left.

I agree, Jansen is IMO our best FB at this time, ahead of Sagnol and Lahm. I'm hoping he starts.
It would be great if he starts Podolski on the left side of midfield, in case Ribery can't recover his fitness in time.

It's not confirmed yet that neither VdV nor Ribery can not play.
I still at least expect VdV to play, cause this is a crucial game for HSV. If they lose this one they are practically out of the race for 1st place.
I think Miguel has it right with the formation, maybe Ribery in for Hamit and Schweini in rm...

Good point. But it's an ankle injury (vdv) so I'm not sure if HSV want to risk having to sub him off during the match and potentially aggravating his injury.
Ribery is a crucial part of the starting line-up, but it could be a good test if play a top team in BL without Franck.

HSV will to 90% play with VdV. They played without him against Zürich because they didn't want to risk anything and they didn't need him because of the 3:1 win Zürich last week.

Agreed.
I think this should be our formation :
......................Kahn
Sagnol....Lucio...v Buyten....Lahm
................MvB.....ZeRo
Hamit...........Schweini.......Podolski
........................Toni
Klose must be benched at least in the first half.
Podolski must play, he earned it.
My subs:
Min 60' Toni Out Klose in .
Min 70' Schweini Out Schlaudraff in .
Min 80' Hamit Out Kroos in. / MvB Out Ottl in .

Great news!!

Werder lost, they've now given the chance to us to extend the lead to 6 points.
We had it earlier, we didn't use it. Now, it's the time to use it!
We must beat Hamburg!

^ with the added bonus of Diego being sent off!
I hope Hsv play VdV while he still hasn't completely recovered, then it will be their mistake. Bayern, come on!! Lets get 6 points clear!!

Yup yup.
Man, that was one brutal match too. I lost count on how many yellow cards there were. And wow, Frankfurt's GK Oka Nikolov was fantastic in that match!
