Ideally, BM turns the No. 1 job over to Rensing and he proves he's ready to be the next German great. That being said - and considering his injuries and age - Bayern should try to find a proven veteran who is willling to be a No. 2, which I realize will not be easy. Bayern cannot be in a situation where Rensing gets injured or misses one game and Kraft has to start. ... Can you imagine if Kraft has to start a game in the Champions League?

People keep bringing up Adler, and like Rensing he is a young keeper. Leverkusen gave him the chance and he delivered, but same can be said of Rensing. I say we keep Rensing, and hopefully he completes his skills from Kahn before his retirement. Rensing has some trouble with long range shots, but other than that he is outstanding. Also, Casillas had started young with RM placing their faith in him -- so we need to stick with Rensing. As for Kraft as the backup -- that one I'm not quite certain, he needs a couple of more seasons to get to Rensings level. I say get a backup for Rensing, which BM may do -- and it obviously needs to be someone who isn't going to have comments show up in the daily bild about being the backup either.

I agree with what most of you are saying about Rensing. You can't just call for his head after one bad game. And if I remember correctly, his back was hurt for that matchup.
I am 100% behind him next season. He hasn't tallied a loss yet, he's young, and he's been mentored by Oliver Kahn. (And when it comes to high class competition, don't forget about the 2 WONDERSAVES he made in the Champions League last year...AND he's grown since then).
Let Rensing have his shot, sign a decent #2, Chelsea's backup to Cech? I think his name is Cudicini? Solid keeper IMHO.

And a blunder on the same match.
Do you think Cudicini would leave Chelsea where he probably has more chances to play than what he would have at Bayern (since Cech has become a bit of an injury prone) and potentially earn less per month ?

Hence why I followed with "he's gained experience since then." I'm merely saying he has the talent to not only start, but to excel.
As for Cudicini, I had to throw out some keeper's name. It was just the first that came to mind as a backup.
However, he WOULD play if Rensing doesn't do too well.

yeah it's hard to really see a reliable backup right now. The german press was mainly speculating on 3 names
- Lehmann, which has already been denied by Hoeness
- bvb 2nd goalie Marc Ziegler, but he made some big mistakes in the alst 2 bundesliga matches. (Weidenfeller is still injured )
- simon jentzsch. started as #1 in Wolfsburg this season but got fired by Magath after some poor performances.
Neither one I'm particularly fond of. I even went through Fm08 to look for a great idea, but i couldn't really find anyone i would trust, or he would never leave his starting spot to become #2 at bayern. Palop came to my mind, Miguel knows why

Someone named Chelsea and a name came to mind.
Hilario, that dude did pretty well for a 3rd choice keeper when Cech and Cudiccini got injured. I would be nice to have him on board.

Jentzsch... a few years back I would've recommended him for Germany.
Would love to have him as a backup.

just look two posts above buddy
Jentzsch got fired by Magath for good and he is out of contract now. I don't trust the guy though. To fire him was a abit harsh but he had a really poor seasn.
And he is former 1860 guy.....

I don't really care that he was a Lion but i seriously don't consider him.
My vote still goes to Hilario, 3rd choice keeper for Chelsea.

He's got a great amount of experience (CL matches for Porto and also a Portuguese champion) and he would accept the number 2 role, but honestly I don't think we can get him off Chelsea and he's a bit dodgy at times, makes some awesome saves and then a blunder (very Rensing and Lehmann-escue).
We can do better than Hilario, though I wouldn't mind him, specially since hes Portuguese

If Klinsmann does add a sprinkle of America, maybe he lures Brad Guzan - he was linked to Celtic and the EPL during the winter but couldn't get visa. He wouldn't come to sit the bench, though.

Well, I think he should start off as no. 1 gk for bayern. he's gotta start sometime.
Manuel Neuer is younger than Rensing and he's already Schalke's no. 1 gk.
If Bayern gets another GK to replace Kahn, do you expect Rensing to be no. 2 gk untill he's in his 30's?? He has to start when he's still young, I think it's worth the gamble.
