We beat Hansa in MD18, while Werder lost to Bochum. Right now, we have a three point lead with them. This direct match is a perfect chance for us to extend it to six points, and we mustn't throw it away.

Werder will miss Naldo because of a two match suspension.
Ribéry and Lucio are doubtful and may not feature for us beacause of injuries.

Despite the injuries we are going to win this game.....we have the potential. I'm optimistic that we will be 6 point clear after the game

This is no time to get cocky or even confident. But that does not mean that we have to fear them.

We have to come to this game as serious as we can get. It is a vital game. If we manage a 6 point gap between those who are chasing us it would be fucking perfect.

Yes, Lucio & Ribery are in doubt. But we still have the quality to earn this game. Either Start Schweini or Schlaudraff on the left... And bring in Kroos as a joker at some point of the game to give our gameplay a new rhythim.

Van Buyten and Demichelis have proven to do well together. And they shall do no less in this game. That is in case Lucio can't get fit in time.

This would be my line up...

..................Kahn.............
Sagnol...Vbuyten...Micho...Lahm
..........ZeRo......MVB.......
...Sosa...............Schweini/Schlaudraff
................Klo-Ni.........

Kroos in, Sosa out : min : 75
Ottl in, Toni out : min : 84

(Toni should rest, Ottl will re-inforce the midfield to ensure our victory... we will put the game into bed once we have a few goals scored)

this game can change the way championship is goin, so its important to win it! It will be hard without Ribery and Lucio, but we still have better team then Werder, so lets rock them like on the start of the season!
My line up:
-------------Kahn-------------
Sagnol-Breno-Micho-Lahm
-----------MVB-Ze------------
Hamit--------------Schweini
---------Toni-Klose----------

and Sosa, Schlaudraff and Kroos can have a chanse in the second half.

i suggest this Line up:

..................Kahn.............
Sagnol...Vbuyten...Micho...Lahm
..........ZeRo......MVB.......
...Sosa...............Schweini
................Klose-Toni........

*Schweini's situation didn't surprise me, his laziness and bad performance was predicted ... Scwieni is a LM . putting him on the right is a complete stupidity .
At the NT he was superb on the left and not mentioning his Injury which fucked this more .

Subz: min 70 Schlaudraff in, sosa/Schweini out
min 80 Toni out, Ottl in.

* i am not against giving Kroos the opportunity ... we must give him more play time ... With all do respect to Hitz, We are not at a higher level than Barca and the Give Bojan/Dos santos 90 min!!! every MD .

Lol, that's how you justify his bad performances? Come on mate!

It's a wing, left or right. Okay, lets say it has a little affect, but just a little.

Schweini hasn't put good performances recently for Germany either. And he was played on his preferred position.

He has become lazy out of a sudden, he just looks like a mediocre player. I don't know what's up with him. Actually, everyone in Germany is surprised from this, they can't understand it either.

I'd start him against Bremen though, for some reason, Schweini has always played very good against Bremen.

This would be my line-up:

..................Kahn........................
Sagnol...Vbuyten...Micho...Lahm
..........ZeRo......MVB...................
...Sosa...............Schweini..........
.............Klose-Toni...................

Can't say anything about the subs, it will all depend on the situation.

I'd play poldi, he will want to 1) prove himself to bayern 2) sell himself to Werder if he can't do 1

According to the latest news, Poldi seems to be fit, and is expected to play part in the match of Germany against Austria, on Wednesday. I have no doubt he'll play part in Bayern match v Werder.

I find some sense in this, but this doesn't apply for Schweni .
He is not Lahm, he can't play in ether sides .

The Unique thing in Schweini's LM position is his going to the center all of a sudden and delivering this long range/Super powerful shot ( Remember the 3-1 against Portugal ??) .

uhmmmm. i have to disagree. a lot actually. Schweini can play both sides. he has played RM all of the past 2 seasons and LM most of the time before and generally in the NT team too. So if one player can play both sides it sure is Schweini.

You know if i was Schweini i would switch too. Appearantly in Germany you only appreciate something once you have lost it. Yes he was not in good shape lately. but he was injured a lot and he actually had personal problems.

I'm not saying he has a great season, but i really get annoyed by just negative comments. You have to name someone who would do better than him first

Default Hoeneß on Werder clash: ‘It’s an utterly crucial fixture for us’

Whenever Uli Hoeneß’s packed schedule allows, the FCB board director likes to call by the professionals’ quarters at the Säbener Strasse training ground. Wednesday morning was a case in point, the general manager looking in for the latest on Franck Ribéry’s injury, only to hear the disappointing news that the France star is out of Sunday’s crunch meeting with Werder Bremen. “Obviously, we’re not as strong without Franck. But his absence shouldn’t be the kind of thing to throw us out of our stride,” Hoeneß exclusively related to fcbayern.de.

Interview: Uli Hoeneß

fcbayern.de: Uli Hoeneß, the German footballing world is eagerly awaiting Bayern’s top-of-the-table clash with Werder on Sunday. What are your feelings ahead of the match?
Uli Hoeneß: “We’ve always said we’re in a good position for the second half of the season, because with the exception of Schalke, we play all our main rivals at home. But it’s still an utterly crucial fixture for us, because a win would see us pull a little further clear of Bremen. I don’t think any of us believed we’d be three points ahead of Werder going into the game.”

fcbayern.de: How surprised were you by Bremen’s defeat at home to Bochum last weekend?
Hoeneß: “I don’t think anyone saw that coming, but you never quite know where you stand after the winter break. Naturally, Bremen were very unlucky in that the goal which set Bochum on their way to victory was patently offside.“

fcbayern.de: So you must be even more satisfied with Bayern’s hard-earned away win in Rostock last Friday?
Hoeneß: “There’s a new trend in the media: Bayern are supposed to win all their matches 6-0. We used to be delighted by the simple fact of winning away from home, we used to buy champagne on the flight back. Now we’re supposed to crush every team we meet. I thought we played well in the first half, but we failed to make it 3-0 when we had the chance. Then they pulled one back, the 30,000 at the stadium went wild, Rostock fought like madmen and went hell for leather at our goal. Add to that a difficult pitch and a blustery wind, and it was obvious we’d come under pressure. We weren’t very good for twenty minutes, but I thought we were OK again in the last quarter of an hour.“

fcbayern.de: Franck Ribéry missed the second half in Rostock, and he’s out of the meeting with Bremen. How bad a loss is that?
Hoeneß: “We all know Franck’s an extremely important player. But as we already know he can’t play on Sunday, the coach and the team have time to work on alternatives. I’m pretty sure it won’t be as much of a problem as having him play a half but be unable to continue.“

fcbayern.de: So you believe FCB can compensate for Franck’s absence?
Hoeneß: “Obviously, if he wasn’t an exceptional player, we wouldn’t have paid €25 million for him. And obviously, we’re not as strong without Franck. But his absence shouldn’t be the kind of thing to throw us completely out of our stride. We have Schweinsteiger, Altintop, Kroos, any number of players capable of filling Ribéry’s position. I don’t see it as a particularly great problem for us.“

Default Ribéry ruled out of Sunday showdown

Sunday sees the Allianz Arena host the biggest match of the Bundesliga season so far, when leaders Bayern entertain closest pursuers Werder Bremen. The Reds lead the standings by three points following the northerners’ shock home defeat last weekend, so a Munich victory would represent “a minor milestone“ on the way to the title, Ottmar Hitzfeld declared.

However, the Bayern coach is without one of his undisputed stars for the match which means so much to both sides. Franck Ribery is “definitely out“ of the game with a stubborn hamstring problem, Hitzfeld confirmed after Wednesday training at the Säbener Strasse.

All-clear for Lucio

Hitzfeld has yet to decide how to cover for the loss of the French midfielder, who is reporting for treatment on a daily basis but cannot train at all at the present time. No date has been set for Ribéry’s return, and he is already rated doubtful for Bayern’s UEFA Cup trip to Scottish Premier League outfit Aberdeen just four days after the Bremen clash.

There was much better news of centre-half Lucio. “I think we’ll get him fit in time for Sunday,” commented assistant coach Michael Henke. The Brazilian stretched an Achilles tendon during the Bundesliga restart match in Rostock and was forced to pull out of his country’s midweek friendly in Ireland.

Default Titanic clash with a history of goals

Bayern against Werder is undoubtedly the biggest clash on the Bundesliga fixture programme. The teams preparing to cross swords at the Allianz Arena on Sunday occupy the top two positions in the standings, separated by just three points. It is also a meeting between two of the league’s highest-scoring line-ups.

Bremen are out on their own in terms of goals scored so far this term with 43, followed by Bayer Leverkusen (35) and Ottmar Hitzfeld’s men (33), although Bayern are the only team to have scored more than three goals in a game on six occasions, four of those at home. Recognised strikers have netted 20 of Bremen’s goals, followed by Bayern with a figure of 19.

Key forwards missing

Luca Toni (10) and Miroslav Klose (9) top the scoring charts both for their club and in the league, although the Bavarian front two will be without the supreme service provided by Franck Ribéry on Sunday. The France wizard could be out for up to three weeks, a glum Hitzfeld reported on Thursday, although the player himself hopes to be fit again in time for the UEFA Cup return leg against Aberdeen on 21 February.

Werder’s leading scorer is midfielder Diego (9), followed by strikers Sanogo and Almeida (7 apiece), although the attacking pair are out of Sunday’s showdown. Sanogo is still on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Cote d’Ivoire and Almeida is suspended, although Bremen have a capable reserve in the shape of five-goal Swede Rosenberg.

Goals galore for Bremen fans

A glance at the history of the fixture suggests the Allianz Arena crowd could be treated to a festival of goals. The last 26 league meetings between Bayern and Bremen have featured at least one goal, with the most recent scoreless draw some 13 years ago on 10 December 1994 in Bremen. Nineteen years have passed since a goalless outcome in Munich (8 April 1989).

This term, matches involving Bremen have been the highest scoring of all with a total of 69 goals, although that is only partly due to the prowess of Diego and Co. Compared to Bayern’s stingy record of just nine goals conceded, with just two of those at the Allianz Arena, Bremen keepers Wiese and Vander have picked the ball from the back of the net an unimpressive 26 times, the worst record of any team in the top third of the table. By way of comparison, bottom club MSV Duisburg show 29 goals against at the present time. To add to Bremen’s defensive woes, powerful centre-half Naldo is suspended at the weekend.

Many an opener for Bremen

A host of fascinating statistical facts accompany the fixture. Bayern have lost more times and conceded more goals against Bremen than against any other club – but the same is true for Bremen in reverse. Bayern have fallen 1-0 behind against Bremen on 35 occasions, a club record. And Bayern have only lost at home more often to Cologne (eight matches) than to Bremen (6), although none of the defeats came at the Allianz Arena. Finally, this is a record seventh time the north-south showdown has also represented the clash of first versus second. Bayern against Werder, undoubtedly the biggest game in the Bundesliga.
