#18 Miroslav Klose
Germany striker Miroslav Klose left Werder Bremen to join Bayern Munich.
The top scorer of last year’s World Cup left Werder one year before the end of his contract.
“Bayern fulfilled our expectations and we approved the transfer under those conditions,” Werder’s general manager Klaus Allofs said Tuesday.
A statement by Werder said Bayern had made a “vastly improved” offer Monday for the Polish-born striker.
Werder gave no figures, but the Bild newspaper said Bayern was paying a transfer fee of €15 million (US$20.19 million). While, a very reliable website such as transfermarkt.de reports that Bayern paid €12 million for Klose.

Even though Bild reports we paid 15m, transfermarkt says we paid 12m. I trust transfermarkt more.

Makaay is off to Feynoord, Santa Cruz is done. He'll leave too.
We have Klose, Podolski, Toni and Schludraff who is more of a second striker/AM

I'm not sure about a Klose-Toni partnership, they're both too similar in my opinion.
Still, it's a good signing.

Transfer completed, Klose signs with Bayern!
The early transfer of Miroslav Klose from Werder Bremen to Bayern Munich has just been announced. After weeks of speculation the deal has now been done.
In an announcement to Kicker, it has been revealed that the German striker will join the Bavarian side now rather than at the end of his contract in July 2008.
This ends weeks of speculation. Exact details of the transfer have yet to be agreed, but it is thought that Bayern have raised their initial offer of €10 million to €12 million. The fee could rise to €15 million dependant on Bayern success.
According to sources at Bayern there were amicable discussions between Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß from Bayern’s side and Klaus Allofs and Manfred Müller from Bremen. The transfer should go through on 1st July.
“It has been about a fair solution for both sides” Rummenigge revealed.
Klaus Allofs confirmed, “Bayern Munich have fulfilled our conditions, so that we can give our agreement to this transfer.”
Klose will arrive in Munich on Thursday for a medical examination before signing a four year contract. The 29 year old could then appear at Bayern’s first pre-season training session on Friday.
The first rumours of a move appeared in April, but ever since a poker game over the player has ensued. Bremen made their demands clear, while Bayern remained confident they could get their man on their terms. It had gone very quiet recently, as Bremen stood their ground.
Klose joins Frank Ribéry and Luca Toni as Bayern’s big summer signings. The ‘complete overhaul’ that Uli Hoeneß promised in May has now taken place.

Well, Feyenoord renewed their interest on him yesterday.
We're not gutted, we all knew he'd go if Klose would come.
The board agreed on that case, so did Roy.
He's a legend and we're always thankful to him for his services.

Klose heeds Bayern call at last
Miroslav Klose has become the latest big name to join the new-look FC Bayern München after completing his move from Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen.
Prolific scorer
Klose, who had previously been linked with a move to Bayern in summer 2008, had spent three seasons at Bremen scoring 53 goals in 89 league matches. He first made his name at 1. FC Kaiserslautern with his breakthrough campaign coming in the 2000/01 season. Klose, who also has 33 goals in 69 matches for Germany, has moved for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of €12m. "It is a deal that is fair for everyone," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

New faces
With Bayern contemplating their first season without the UEFA Champions League football in eleven seasons, the club is determined to avoid a repeat in the coming campaign. German internationals Marcell Jansen and Jan Schlaudraff, Turkey midfielder Hamit Altıntop, Argentina playmaker José Ernesto Sosa, France winger Franck Ribéry and Italy striker Luca Toni have all joined while Brazilian midfielder Zé Roberto is also returning to his former club.
Situation changed
Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs said: "We know that we are losing a successful player but Miro's change of heart combined with Bayern's new offer has changed the situation compared to where we were at the end of the season. This has moved us to not continue the current contract." Bremen face a UEFA Champions League qualifier in August in order to reach the group stage but do not feel the need to sign a replacement. "We have shown in the last season that we are capable of delivering top performances without him," Allofs added.
