Sky Sports | Football | News | Klinsmann bags Bayern job
it's really no april's fool joke. klinsmann will take over on the 1st of July 2008
The more i think of it, the more i actually start to like it. Yes Mourinho or Lippi are the better coaches.
But Klinsi will let Bayern play the most offensive football in all of europe and he strongly votes for young talented players. Poldi, schweini and Kroos will be pretty happy with this one.

Omg now that is really surprising. But I think this will went wrong. Klinsmann and Hoeness can't stand each other. I think he will fail at Bayern.

You said countless times how Hitzfeld was poor tactically... well what about Kilnsmann?! The guy has absolutely no tactical knowledge!
What does it matter if he plays attacking football ? I couldn't care less for how many goals we score, as long as we win always. I don't mind if we win 1-0 all season, at least we WIN!!
Imagine when we're 1-0 down and he has to change something, my bet is the score will be 3-0 for the opponent rather than us fighting back.
I'm pissed at the Bayern board, from all the names, Klinsmann is the worst of them all.
This also rules out the possibility of Kahn staying in München and working for Bayern, since Kahn hates Klinsmann...

Kahn could easily come later on to work in Bayern after a couple of years. Remember that he is going to Asia to train goalkeepers and get good money I suspect Klinsmann to stick around for a couple of years too.
Now, this is an intereting choice. I wanted Mou, but oh well. What's done is done. I really hope this guy gets a chance to sit down and study until he has to take over as Bayern Munich coach. Or go see Joachim Loew for lessons
Anyways, the good thing is that Klinsmann will totally sharpen up Podolski. I really hope he can take out the best of him. That is, if he stays this summer...
I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Hitzfeld: Klinsmann A First Class Solution
With Bayern Munich making the surprise announcement that Jürgen Klinsmann will take over from Ottmar Hitzfeld in the summer, reactions have been coming in to the news.
Current trainer Ottmar Hitzfeld has reacted positively to the news saying that Klinsmann is the perfect choice.
“I congratulated Uli Hoeneß on his decision. Jürgen Klinsmann is a tremendous coach and he knows Bayern. Also he speaks English, Italian and French, so will be able to converse with the players.
“He is a big motivator and that is a first-class solution. Now we can work in peace.”
Bayern captain Oliver Kahn, who won’t be around to work under Klinsmann when he retires at the end of the year, was rather less effusive.
“I’m not concerned with the topic. As captain I’m concentrating my energies on the here and now. Who the trainer is next season doesn’t affect me, but of course I wish Jürgen Klinsmann all the best.”
National team trainer Joachim Löw, who succeeded Klinsmann as Bundestrainer, has welcomed the return of his predecessor.
“For me personally, it’s a surprise. After our recent telephone conversations I was sure he was going to make a return to management. Bayern will be a great project for him.”
Bayern’s nearest league rivals are Werder Bremen and their trainer Thomas Schaaf said: “Jürgen had success at the World Cup and Bayern will want him to continue that with them. Whether he does that, or not, is not something I have to think about.”
Torsten Frings was a little more blunt. “It doesn’t interest me, it really doesn’t interest me” was his opinion.
Werder general manager Klaus Allofs, who himself has recently been linked with a move to the Bavarian giants, does not fear that Klinsmann may prove to be a magnet for Germany’s top players.
“For me it’s a big surprise. I just hope he doesn’t take over with Bayern as champions. I don’t think though, that there will be any great migration of German internationals to Bayern.”

Jürgen Klinsmann to succeed Hitzfeld at Bayern
Former Germany boss Jürgen Klinsmann will succeed Ottmar Hitzfeld as Bayern head coach on 1 July 2008, the club announced on Friday.
The appointment sees Klinsmann return to the club where he won UEFA Cup and German championship honours in a two-year stint as a player between 1995 and 1997.
Hitzfeld: a first-class solution
The former world-class striker, a 1990 World Cup winner who captained his country to Euro 1996 glory and scored 47 goals in 108 international appearances, spent two years at the Germany helm and guided the host nation to third place at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The 43-year-old will now take on the challenge of leading Bayern to domestic and European success.
“Congratulations to Bayern Munich. This is a first-class solution. Jürgen Klinsmann is an outstanding coach and a tremendous man-motivator, who had an excellent World Cup with the national team,“ Hitzfeld commented at Bayern’s Säbener Strasse headquarters on Friday. “He also speaks English, French and Italian, and will be able to communicate well with the players.“
Positive reaction from dressing room
General manager Uli Hoeneß informed the squad of the board’s decision to appoint Klinsmann ahead of a scheduled morning training session. “This is an absolutely superb choice. We’re delighted Jürgen Klinsmann is to be our new coach,“ Germany striker Miroslav Klose declared. “I think it’s great the board have already come to a decision,“ added Willy Sagnol.
“We did very well under him with the national team,“ remarked Lukas Podolski. The new role will be Klinsmann’s first experience of coaching at club level, “but he did an extremely good job for Germany,“ Sagnol observed. “The Germany internationals know what kind of a guy he is, so we view this very positively,“ confirmed Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Already immersed in the club
As a player, Klinsmann set a club record with 15 goals in the 1996 UEFA Cup winning run and earned his championship winners’ medal the following season. “He knows his Bayern Munich,“ Hitzfeld commented. “I hope we have a couple of trophies to defend when he arrives,“ added Schweinsteiger.

well I've just watched the complete press conference and all the analysis and stuff....
What's done is done. He is our new coach now and we will have to live with it. I actually enjoyed the conference and Klinsmann seemed very very motivated two me. 2-3 points i'd like to mention. I'll not translate anything but that will come soon enough anyway
- On commentator said he doesn't like it cause under Hitzfeld they could get interviews all the time whenever they wanted and public training every training session, that will change now. That's actually a good thing. Training is for the team. the game is for the fans. 1-2 public training sessions is more than enough in my eyes. No one can tell me that a training session in front of 4-5000 visitors will bring you as much as one whith just the team
- kahn seemed pretty pissed to me. he practically said. what the hell do i care ? i won't be here when he comes
- and what i really really really liked was matthaeus face when they interviewed him. damn but he was pissed. hahaha. that saved my day. he wondered who would do all the work now for klinnsmann when jogi is not there. he sure was secretly hoping for a call to be at least assistant coach. ain't gonna happen loddar

Friday reaction | Chancellor joins chorus of approval for Klinsmann
In the biggest news of the German football season so far, Jürgen Klinsmann has been appointed to succeed Ottmar Hitzfeld as Bayern head coach from 1 July 2008. The stunning appointment has prompted comment from all sides of the game, and also from the world of politics. fcbayern.de summarises the reaction so far.
Reaction to the appointment of Jürgen Klinsmann:
Angela Merkel (German Chancellor, reported by spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm): “In common with millions of German football fans, the Chancellor is delighted Jürgen Klinsmann is returning to Germany to apply his abilities.“
Franz Beckenbauer (Bayern president): “I’m looking forward to Jürgen Klinsmann’s tenure. I don’t think this decision is courageous, I think it’s intelligent and well thought through. Jürgen Klinsmann used his new methods to succeed with the national team, and I’m certain he’ll be successful with Bayern.“
Joachim Löw (Germany coach): “Personally, this comes as a surprise. However, after speaking to him on the phone in recent weeks and months, I was certain he’d be making a swift return to coaching. This will definitely benefit German football. Overall, it’s an exciting development when a former national coach, who set many things in motion, comes in to coach a leading German club. I’m looking forward to a good partnership.“
Theo Zwanziger (German FA president): “He has achieved a great deal for German football, and will definitely make waves at Bayern. It’s fantastic that Jürgen Klinsmann is returning to Germany.“
Oliver Bierhoff (Germany team manager): “Jürgen is always good for a surprise, as he showed when he was national coach. He will really add value to the Bundesliga and it’ll definitely be exciting with him around. I’m delighted he’s coming back to Germany on a permanent basis.“
Wolfgang Niersbach (German FA general secretary): “This comes as a huge surprise to me personally. I’m delighted at the decision and believe it will lead to an even stronger alliance between the DFB (German FA) and one of the Bundesliga’s leading clubs.“
Klaus Allofs (Werder Bremen managing director): “It’s not a particularly big surprise to me. It’s the major solution we expected. I only hope he doesn’t take over the championship-winning team. Otherwise, it doesn’t have any great impact on us. Nor do I fear an exodus of German national players in the direction of Munich.“
Wolfgang Holzhäuser (Bayer Leverkusen managing director): “Many congratulations to Bayern, this is a real coup. However, I’m not really surprised. I’d even say I was expecting it.“
Dieter Hecking (Hanover 96 coach): “I’m sure Bayern and Jürgen Klinsmann have thought long and hard about this decision. Considering what Klinsmann achieved with Germany, this has to be a very good decision for Bayern.“
Thomas Doll (Borussia Dortmund coach): “I didn’t think it would happen so fast, but Bayern clearly wanted to settle things as fast as possible. Klinsmann has proved he can deal with enormous pressure. He’s immune to criticism.“
Udo Lattek (Ex-Bayern coach): “I’m shocked and stunned, because I considered all kind of solutions, but not Klinsmann. Bayern Munich deserve a badge of courage for hiring Klinsmann. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping it goes well, because Klinsmann still has no experience of coaching a club side.“

Too many doubts over Klinsmann.
Klinsi has not coached a club before, Klinsi is not a good tactician, Klinsi this, Klinsi that.
STOP! What's done is done. Live by it.
He will do a good job, trust me, and trust Uli Hoeness.
Klinsmann is known for his attacking football, for his work with the youngsters.
He's a hungry and always a very motivated coach. You always see him smiling.
Our game will improve under him, I'm think we'll play sorta like Germany under him. Youngsters will benefit a lot from him, as he will give them plenty of chances, especially Lukas Podolski, who is a favorite of Klinsmann.
Lets wait and see who will be his assistant, it is an important position.
Everyone says Joachim Low was behind his sucess at Germany, and no one is denying it, actually there's a lot truth in that.
But, Low is not behind everything, Klinsi also worked a lot, and he's a big personality, and even if he's not good at tactics as some claim, he must have learned something from Low than.
Mourinho was my favorite for the job, I do admit it, and my no.2 was Hiddink.
I never thought Klinsi was about to come, but whatever, he's here.
I'm not dissapointed at all, I'm very delighted to have such a legend as boss.
