Four friendlies, I like the idea.

Delighted to see a scheduled friendly with 1860.

We have a score to settle with them, remember they ruined Elber's testimonial.

Default Friendly: FC Bayern München v China Olympic Team - 12/01/08

The next milestone in Bayern’s drive to develop relationships in the Asian footballing world arrives on 12 January, when the Reds take on the Chinese Olympic football team at the Allianz Arena. The match kicks off at 3 pm and represents the first leg of the Allianz Cup 2008. The return in the Far East is provisionally scheduled for late-May.

The match in Munich will be the first genuine mid-season test for Ottmar Hitzfeld’s men, who report back to the Säbener Strasse for winter training on 7 January. China’s Olympic line-up, under Serbian coach Ratomir Dujkovic, rate as the vast nation’s most capable and interesting team.

The side is hotly tipped to claim a medal on home soil at next year’s Beijing Olympic Games. The majority of the squad has been together for years, frequently taking leave of absence from their clubs for training camps and overseas trips, and even being sent to military installations for physical preparation.

Olympic rules call for at least eight U-23 players, complemented by three overage professionals. The coveted roles are likely to go to Zheng Zhi of Charlton Athletic, rated the best player in China; Sun Jihai, a Manchester City regular for the last five seasons; and Shao Jiayi. The former 1860 Munich midfielder switched to Energie Cottbus a year and a half ago and is currently the Bundesliga’s solitary Chinese star.

If you live in europe you will get lucky, cause BR is a free broadcast and you can watch it over satelite

outside europe: well I think the chinese tv will sure stream it somewhere. CCTV-5 is a good guess but all the chinese always makes my head hurt. So do it eric style, turn up the volume on your music player and watch Bayern kick some ass!

It's currently half time in Augsburg, where Bayern are playing a friendly against FC Augsburg.

We're 1-0 up, don't know who scored the goal for us, and in which minute.

It's not being televised live, I'm only being informed through Livescore.com for the result.

there you go. let's see

in the first game after the break. toni and klose had revived their hunger for goals
In front of 22k in a fully filled stadion Klose opened the scoring in the 19th minute, followed by toni in the 64th, while timo wenzel scored for augsburg in the 80th minute vs Rensing who replaced Kahn in the half due to a minor injury of the german goalie
the hitzfeld squad played partly very well and got a deserved win. New signing Breno did a good job in his first game.
Franck Ribery, Daniel van Buyten, Lukas Podolski (all out with flu), Zé Roberto and Marcell Jansen (injuries) were all out. Except for Ottl, Micho and Lell none of the 19 used players played the whole game for bayern

Default Bayern down Augsburg for first win of year

Bayern won their first friendly of the mid-season training period on Wednesday evening, goals from Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose sealing a 2-1 victory over Bavarian neighbours FC Augsburg which also featured a 45-minute run-out for new signing Breno. The one negative on an otherwise heartening occasion for the men in red saw keeper Oliver Kahn forced to quit the action with injury after just 34 minutes.

Against the side lying 12th in the second division, Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld used the opportunity to experiment with his line-up, a measure which was partially enforced as five players were unavailable with sickness or injury. The boss also kept Germany men Miroslav Klose, Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger on the bench in the first half, starting with Willy Sagnol, José Sosa and Jan Schlaudraff instead. Andreas Ottl deputised in defensive midfield for the injured Zé Roberto.

Toni hits the mark

A near-capacity crowd at the Rosenaustadion in Augsburg saw a lively opening, only for new FCA signing Michael Thurk to screw the first chance wide with only Kahn to beat. By contrast, the visitors converted their first opportunity and took a 19th-minute lead, Sosa curling a free-kick into the box for Toni to nod home.

Augsburg's Neuhaus was the busier of the two keepers in the next spell, saving from the Italian World Cup winner just two minutes after the opening goal before tipping Sosa's half-volley over the bar on the half-hour. Kahn's match came to a premature end just four minutes later following an accidental collision with Roland Benschneider which left the Bayern skipper clutching his thigh. Michael Rensing took over in goal.

Debut for Breno

Hitzfeld made a string of changes at half-time, introducing Lahm, Klose, Schweinsteiger and Kroos for Sagnol, Toni, Van Bommel and Sosa. New signing Breno also replaced fellow countryman Lucio for his first run-out in a red shirt since arriving in Munich three days ago. The Brazilian performed with credit, looking composed on the ball and strong in the tackle, although there were a few understandable crossed wires with his fellow defenders.

The entertainment continued apace after the break, Klose doubling the advantage on 64 minutes after one of several fine Schlaudraff lay-offs. FCA defender Timo Wenzel's deflected 25-yarder ten minutes from time reduced the arrears and made for an exciting finish, but Rensing saved well from Thurk and late sub Küntzel, with Schlaudraff hitting the angle of post and bar from 25 metres and Schweinsteiger's deflected effort shaving the post.

All for a good cause

Net proceeds from the match at the Rosenaustadion will be donated to charity. Part of the revenue is earmarked for the Pressedruck group social fund, with the remainder destined for the Bavarian football association youth development programme.

FC Augsburg 1 Bayern 2 (H-T 0-1)

Bayern Munich: Kahn (Rensing 34) - Sagnol (Lahm 46), Lucio (Breno 46), Demichelis, Lell - Altintop (Fürstner 81), Van Bommel (Schweinsteiger 46), Ottl, Sosa (Kroos 46) - Toni (Klose 46), Schlaudraff (Wagner 81)

Referee: Michael Kempter (Sauldorf)

Attendance: 25,421

Goals: 0-1 Toni (19), 0-2 Klose (64), 1-2 Wenzel (80)

It's always good to start with a win, no matter who you play against.

I just checked the highlights, looked like we played okay.

You can't rate the team properly, but still..

Sosa was good, set up the goal for Toni.

Schlaudraff was very good, set up the goal for Klose, also had a very bombastic shot on goal from 40 metres and hit the bar.

Toni and Klose were okay, scored a goal each. It's important for them to score, no matter the importance of the match.

Can't rate Breno, though he hasn't had the best debut you can imagine, because as a result of a deflected ball from his feet we conceded a goal.

Oli Kahn got injured, and substituted off right after. Hitzfeld said it's nothing serious, he'll return after 2 days of break.

All in all, status good, an accomplished mission.

Default Team China pose stern test for wary Reds

Bayern will contest four warm-up matches before resuming their quest for trophies on 29 January against Wuppertaler SV in the DFB German Cup Round of 16. Following Wednesday evening’s 2-1 success away to second division FC Augsburg, the Bundesliga leaders face another intriguing test of their credentials on Saturday.

The day before flying to a winter training camp in Marbella, coach Ottmar Hitzfeld’s men entertain the Chinese Olympic football team in the home leg of the inaugural Allianz Cup. It might look like a mismatch on paper, but Bayern are wary in the extreme of a side likely to push them all the way.

Pacy, flexible, compact

“We mustn’t underestimate them,” Marcell Jansen told fcbayern.de. “They’re pacy, flexible, and compact, good at letting the ball do the work.“ Back at the 2005 U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands, Jansen was part of the Germany line-up which knocked the Chinese out of the tournament 3-2 in the Round of 16.

The current Olympic team, coached by Serbian national Ratomir Dujkovic, includes more than half the 2005 squad, all of them born in 1985. Most of the players earn their corn in the Chinese C-League, and a clutch are already on the fringes of the senior national team. The squad boasts three permitted overage players, including Du Zhenyu, China’s Player of the Year in 2007, and Li Weifeng, who appeared at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea and currently captains the senior side.

Aiming for semis

Eight months prior to the Beijing Olympics and just under two years after their first gathering as a squad, “Team China” have now entered a decisive preparatory phase. The party is spending two weeks in Europe, moving on to France for further friendlies after facing Bayern.

Catapulted into the headlines by the imminent 2008 Games, the Chinese are targeting at least fourth place in the summer tournament. “That would be like winning the gold medal for us,” Dujkovic reported ahead of his side’s training workout at the Säbener Strasse on Thursday.

Result less important

The 61-year-old is keen for his young charges to offer convincing proof of their progress. “We’re proud to be here, playing one of the greatest clubs in the world,” Dujkovic remarked. Some 50,000 tickets for the Allianz Arena clash have already been sold, with the game set to be televised live on Chinese TV.

“We’ll try and give a decent account of ourselves. It’ll be a great test for us, although the result is of secondary importance. Our objective is to see how the team stands up against such strong opponents,” Dujkovic continued, “although there’ll be a few surprises for the Bayern defence.“

Lahm issues warning

Philipp Lahm warned his team-mates to beware the “hard-running, quick and flexible“ Chinese wingers: “They’re definitely a good team and they won’t be easy to beat.“ Andreas Ottl, a team-mate of Jansen’s with the Germany U-20s in 2005, tended to agree: “Remember how South Korea played in 2002. That’s what it’ll be like on Saturday.“

I don't think we'll have much problems against them.

We should take a comfortable win.

Kahn, who was injured in the friendly v Augsburg, has been declared fit to play.

2:1 van Bommel
3:1 Schweinsteiger

5:1 Kroos
6:1 Toni

Yeah, we won 7-2. We were 4-1 up in the first half.

The match started very rapidly, Klose scoring in the very first minute. Toni headed the ball down for him with a nice touch, and Klose just had to shoot in from the zone to beat the goalie.

Right after, in the very next action, the Chinese guys scored, a good goal that, as they caught our guys 'asleep'. 1-1 after only 2 minutes passed.

We took control of the game again, but couldn't find the goal for a few minutes.

China had a very shitty defense, our guys were very often alone in their zone versus their goalie.

Mark van Bommel was in a position like that and scored, after Toni assisted to him. 2-1.

Klose made a good run from the corner side and beat both a defender and the goalie. The ball was going towards the line, and Schweini was there only to push it. 3-1.

Fourth goal came from Schweini, an interesting cross from him that saw the China captain score an own goal with a header, very good goal that, haha.

Hitz made five changes in second half, playing Rensing, Schlaudraff, Kroos, Breno, Lell and Altintop.

Schlaudraff was very inspiring, very good game from him, probably the best performance from our guys. Good with the ball on the feet, good with the dribbling. Assisted one, scored one, and could have scored yet another one.

Kroos wasn't anything spectacular, missed a few chances, but scored a nice goal.

Sosa played in the first half, wasn't impressed much from him, all he focused in were some crosses from the left wing, which weren't anything special.

He played in Ribery's position, and you could tell the huge difference between them two, obviously, lol.

Toni wasn't bad either, made two assists (if I can remember well), and scored one. He was very good, also made some nice dribblings.

Altintop had a few touches and chances, didn't convert them.

Lahm was quite active, liked him.

Sagnol was kinda unnoticed, and so was Sosa and partly Van Bommel.

Demichelis and Lucio were shaky in only three moments, the only notable moments for China, as they scored twice.

Their only goalscorer danced in an interesting chance in our defence, completely owned Lucio (ashamed to tell, lol), and also Rensing was beaten, so if there weren't Breno in the line, we'd concede the third.

The 2nd goal by Chinese btw came under Breno's legs, and Rensing was quite 'frozen' there, lol.

But, in general, Breno was solid.

Anyway, we were 95% in control of the game all the time, undoubtely played millions of times better than the Chinese guys, and deservedly took the win, but deservedly also conceded two goals.

Easy test, that we passed.

7-2, full time.

Thanks for reading.
