Ali Karimi - former Bayern player
Quote:
Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg are reportedly keen on signing Bayern Munich misfit Ali Karimi.
Salzburg coach Lothar Matthaus has been on the lookout for a playmaker to bolster his squad and is understood to have held talks in Munich with Bayern boss Felix Magath over the availability of the Iran international.
Discussions are ongoing but reports in Germany indicate Bayern's asking price for the midfielder could prove to be a major stumbling block.
Karimi, 27, joined the Bundesliga giants in May 2005 from Al-Ahli where he enjoyed a successful start to his debut season in Europe.
However, the 2004 Asian Player of the Year struggled with injuries towards the end of the season, and appears to have fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena this term.

Karimi can leave as he never shown his talent, but in my opinion Bayern should only loan him.

After scoring twice for Iran, Karimi palyed 20min for Bayern.
He could do much to change the score as Bayern lost to Bremen 3-1.

Ali Karimi has revealed he is not interested in a move to Red Bull Salzburg, but is growing increasingly frustrated with his situation at Bayern Munich.
The Iranian international is surplus to requirements at Bayern and reports suggested he could be on his way to Salzburg when the transfer window re-opens in January.
However, the 28 year-old is not keen on the switch but admitted his days at the Allianz Arena are numbered.
"The situation [at Bayern] is not that good, but I will give all my effort until I establish myself and find my way to the first XI," he was quoted as saying on ISNA.
"There are always rumours, but the discussion of Salzburg was serious. However, Austrian football does not appeal to me.
"I think this will be my final season at Bayern Munich."

Karimi should at least be loaned to Salzburg - he needs the advice and lessons of the great Lothar Matthaus...then rejoin Bayern with more skills.

rumours at the time during the world cup were he was dropped for the last game because he was giving the coach attitude in training, leaving early and kicking a ballbag away or something.
and apparently he threatened to never play for the nt again.
its a shame, hes a very talented player, his dribbling skills are amazing, i thought he could do a job at bayern but hes ruined his oppurtunity now...

It's better for him to go to and player regularly in a lower league.
Salzsburg would be a good team for him.

The coach, being a legend can help Karimi with technique, but Lothar isnt such a renowned coach, so Salzburg as a whole might not do good

So maybe it's better for Karimi to be loaned to a Bundesliga club

Bayern Munich midfielder Ali Karimi will stay with the club until the end of the season, general manager Uli Hoeness revealed.
The 28-year-old Iranian has made just six appearances for the Bundesliga champions so far this season, and speculation had been rife that he would be allowed to leave the club in January.
But, speaking at the club's training camp in Dubai, Hoeness insisted: "We have spoken with the coach [Felix Magath] over the past few days, and agreed that Ali will stay until the end of the season. After that we will see."
The news is likely to frustrate Iran coach Amir Ghalenoi, who urged Karimi to move clubs in order to play more first team football, and prevent his career from stagnating.
"Because he's not getting played in Munich, we're getting hurt, because it is dragging his quality lower and lower," he complained.
"Karimi is one of those players who can only show his worth when he is on the pitch and playing. If you put him on the bench it doesn't matter whether he;s o the bench for Bayern Munich or Bangladesh, he's not going to go anywhere, just backwards.
"I spoke to him on Saturday night and he said it's almost made him depressed and he's in a stressful condition right now," he added.

Karimi doesn't fit on Magath's formation, it's probably better if he leaves.

Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness says that midfielder Ali Karimi can rejoin his former club Al-Ahli in Dubai.
The Iranian international star has failed to hold down a regular first team place at the Allianz Arena since joining the Bundesliga champions in 2005 and has been told that his contract will not be extended at the end of the season.
Hoeness, however, confirmed that Al-Ahli have made an official request as to his availability and added that he would be prepared to let the 28-year-old leave during the current transfer window.
"If he says that he wants to go, then he can go;" he commented after confirming that the two clubs had agreed on the major details of a possible transfer.

Karimi had some great performances during the training camp at Dubai and also scored on the last 2 friendlies against Hamburg and Saarbrucken.
This means that he'll stay until the end of the season and might get a place in the team, now that Deisler is out and Bayern's wingers are Schweini and Brazzo.

Karimi is good enough to play at Bayern, he should be given more chances to play.
