Ribéry: I Am Zidane’s Successor
Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribéry has praised himself by claiming to be the natural successor to the great Zinedine Zidane.
Ribéry has been drawing comparisons to Zidane for a long time now, but has usually looked to play down any such talk.
However, after enjoying a superb first season in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, he has finally admitted that he does see himself as the natural heir to ‘Zizou’.
“It's true that I am his successor, due to my game, my positioning and my qualities” he told French newspaper ‘Le Parisien’.
“When Zizou was playing I was often with him. He always told me to keep going, that he was happy with me, and plenty of other nice comments which I still receive now.”
Ribéry joined Bayern in the summer from Marseille for €25 million and has more than justified Bayern’s record transfer fee with a series of scintillating performances in the league as well as the Uefa Cup.
He now has his sights set on a four-trophy haul, with the European Championships for France adding to the Bundesliga, German Cup, and Uefa Cup with Bayern.
“When I go to the French side I feel a lot better than before, both on the pitch and off it” he said.
“I have more responsibilities. You could say I'm one of the leaders.”

Bayern 4-1 Stuttgart / Ribéry with two goals for two minutes.
PHENOMENAL!
9 in Bundesliga, 3 in UEFA Cup, 2 in DFB-Pokal = 14 goals

I remember just a week or two ago hearing how Ribery doesn't always get those long range shots, but he sure stuck one to stuttfart. I am so glad be beat those morons, and we are 12 points ahead. Ribery has shown time and again how important he is. At this point if Bayern had paid 50 million euros for him I would think it would be a bargain -- between him and Toni, the new Bayern is unstoppable -- can't wait for the CL next season.

Ribery Case To Cause Agent Culling?
Quote:
Frank Ribery was at the centre of a court ruling recently that could force FIFA to completely overhaul the current systems governing football agents.
The Bayern Munich winger was brought before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after being accused by his former agent Bruno Heiderscheid of a breach of contract.
Arbitrator Jean-Jacques Bertrand, however, chose to focus on Heiderscheid’s criminal record when reviewing the contract dispute.
The case tried under French law, which obliges all agents to possess the necessary licences in order to practice their trade. French law also states that an applicant cannot qualify for said licences if they have committed certain offences.
And, as announced by Bertrand: "On February 4, 2000, Heiderscheid was condemned to a penalty of a year's imprisonment for [several financial offences]."
Heiderscheid’s claims were therefore dismissed, and he was ordered to return any payments he received from Ribery.
"The representation contract of November 30, 2005, is therefore void," added Bertrand.
The CAS have thus declared that all representative contracts between players and agents illegitimate if the agent has committed a financial offence.
The ruling could have huge implications as the summer transfer window fast approaches, given FIFA’s statements in January that insists an agent must have "an impeccable reputation", defined as: "no criminal sentence for a financial or violent crime ever [having] been passed against him."
The result could be a mass crackdown on less-than-impeccable agents by FIFA, which could effectively see the entire system of player representation overhauled.

I wouldn't get too confident about Ribery staying at Bayern for the long term if i was a Bayern fan.

Hitzfeld Hails Ribéry Contribution
Bayern Munich trainer Ottmar Hitzfeld has heaped praise on midfielder Franck Ribéry claiming he deserves a lot of the credit for Bayern’s double this season.
Bayern have claimed their 20th Bundesliga title having led the title race from start to finish and also added the German Cup after a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.
They almost made it to the Uefa Cup final, only to fall at the semi final stage to Zenit St Petersburg.
Frenchman Ribéry was the Bavarians record signing in the summer when he joined from Marseille for 25 million, and Hitzfeld believes he has had an immense impact on the club this season.
“I personally congratulated Franck for his consistency during the entire season” the ‘General’ told Bild.
“Without this, we would not have won the Double” he added.
The French winger will ceratinly be one of the contenders to be Bayern's Player of the Season, alongside Luca Toni and Martin Demichelis.

Ribery Voted Best Player In Kicker Poll
Franck Ribery helped gun Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title and has subsequently been voted the best player in the division in a well-known sports publication...
A poll of 268 league players has been published in Kicker magazine on Monday, naming Frank Ribery the Bundesliga player of the year.
Ribery won 57.8 percent of the vote, well ahead of his Bayern Munich team mate Luca Toni of Italy, the league's leading scorer, who came in second place with 24.8 percent.
Werder Bremen ace Diego, a Brazilian playmaker, completed an all-foreign top-three with 8.5 percent.
25-year-old Robery has made a big impact at Bayern despite injury problems since switching from Marseille last year. Bayern bagged their 21st Bundesliga title and also won the German Cup.

Bayern insist Ribery is staying put
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists winger Franck Ribery is going nowhere despite reported interest from England and Spain.
The France international shone in his first season with the Bundesliga champions and Rummenigge claims he is not for sale at any price.
"We could have sold Ribery twice by now," the chairman told Sport Bild magazine.
"We have had requests from the Premier League and Spain, but I would rather sell our most precious silverware than him.
"We will not listen to any offer.
"I have a good relationship with most of my colleagues throughout Europe and if they come to me, the answer will be 'no way'. There is no chance - not for any fee."
The 25-year-old played a key role in Bayern clinching a league and cup double and reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup last season.
Ribery has settled in well since his club record 25 million euro move from Marseille, and Rummenigge believes he is as important to Bayern as Kaka is to Milan and Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United.
"They would not be sold for any price either because players like these make the difference," he added.

One more FC Bayern player on Euro 2008 has reached the quarter-finals: Luca Toni (Italy).
But, in the other side, two FC Bayern players have ended their Euro 2008 campaign: Franck Ribéry and Willy Sagnol (France).
Italy beat France 2-0 tonight, to secure the qualification. Toni was fouled in the zone by Abidal (who was sent off), and Italy were rewarded a penalty. Pirlo took it and scored. The other goal was scored by De Rossi, thanks to a deflection from Henry.
The match brought very bad news to FCB supporters. Ribéry picked up an injury in the 8th minute of the match and was immediately substituted. He was carried of from the docs, as he couldn't move on his feet. The injury looked serious, and Ribéry was in pain.
An accurate diagnosis is still on, but it seems that FC Bayern and new coach Jürgen Klinsmann will have to give some weeks break to the midfield star and big crowd favourite.
GET WELL SOON LEGEND!

I'm not a doctor but 99.9% sure it's a broken leg. Was not his knee (which would be the worst case)...looked like the lower leg.
Terrible for such a fantastic footballer.
