All we need is someone who controls the middle. not a winger, we got high class wingers for me. Someone like Ze Roberto.

Revered, respected Ribéry
‘They don’t come any better than him’

Quote:
Respect and recognition pursued Franck Ribéry wherever he went in Lyon, at the hotel, the airport – and even the field of play. Opponents apologised profusely for fouls, and he left the pitch to a storm of applause from the home crowd. The France international stamped his authority and burgeoning reputation all over his club’s midweek trip to the country of his birth.

“It shows the people haven’t forgotten that this is my country, although I play for Bayern,” the freshly-crowned French Player of the Year commented after a first trip home with his Bavarian employers.

Maiden Champions League goal

The game was always going to be “a little bit special,” Franck mused before kick-off, before turning in a display rating as special in itself. Ribery opened his Champions League scoring account with Bayern’s second against Olympique Lyon, and laid on both Miro Klose’s goals with a nudged pass and a precise cross. The following morning, awestruck French media described the player as “the devil” in Bayern’s ranks.

“My first match with Bayern in France was a success. I’m delighted I scored, and set up two goals,” Ribéry said after the final whistle. “They put up to four men on him, but with this mischievous pleasure of his, he still tried to steal past,” commented Franz Beckenbauer, “they don’t come any better than him.”

Supportive environment

Jürgen Klinsmann praised “his creativity, his instinct, his spontaneity. It’s genuinely special.” The coach acknowledged Ribéry’s “huge importance” to his team. “It’s no coincidence that we’ve finally picked up speed since his comeback and return to full fitness.”

The club goes out of its way to ensure Ribéry is free to focus on football. “I believe we’ve created an environment in which he feels settled, and which brings out the best in him,” offered Klinsmann, who also praised the team for supporting its star player. “Lahm, Zé Roberto and today Borowski do the work behind him, so he can give free rein to his ideas.”

With Luca’s compliments

Ribéry makes best use of that freedom in every match. “Franck’s played well from the moment he joined Bayern,” said Daniel van Buyten, “in fact, I’d argue his game has continued to develop.” Luca Toni also praised his team-mate after the Lyon match, in his own inimitable style of course. With Ribéry surrounded by French reporters, Toni emerged from the kerfuffle with a broad grin, seized a microphone and yelled: “Ribéry? He’s nothing! Nothing!”

I am totally shocked by this news!

Seriously though, he deserves this, ever since his return from injury he showed immediately what he is made of. Now why can't players like Poldi do that?

Ribéry sidelined

Quote:
Klinsmann is without his best player of recent weeks, after Franck Ribéry was withdrawn from Saturday’s squad with a shoulder injury sustained in the midweek Champions League trip to Lyon.

Hamit Altintop, who celebrated a comeback from a four-month lay-off with a brief substitute appearance against the French champions, could be in line for a start against VfB, with Toni Kroos and Tim Borowski also standing by for the left side of midfield. “We have excellent alternatives,” Klinsmann said.

This opens the door for Altintop to play right and Schweini left, or start with Schweini and Boro and bring Altintop in later. We need Ribéry, but on the other hand all other teams gear their tactics around him playing, so with him missing it changes things a little for everyone.

Goals, moves, tricks and more

Quote:
The first half of the 2008/09 Bundesliga season is over, and it's been a thrilling one.

153 matches have been played, and there were goals galore in many of them.

bundesliga.de has singled out five individuals who made a remarkable impact.

Ribery - the best player

Franck Ribery may have played just eleven games in the first half of the season, but he surely was Bayern's most influential player.

Bayern had made an indifferent start to the season before Ribery returned from an injury lay-off in September.

But the Frenchman needed little time to rediscover his best form and is arguably the most outstanding Bundesliga player these days.

Colourful appearance

Red shoes, green shoes, pink shoes - whatever the winger wears, he proved too hot to handle for many defences.

He scored in six straight Bundesliga games and was a vital factor in FC Bayern's strong comeback.

I like that.
Ribery is the best player in the whole Bundesliga.
I think we should tie him down with a 10 year contract

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on Franck Ribéry:
Quote:
“Franck has a contract with us until 30 June 2011. We know what he’s worth to us. He’s an extremely important player. He’s really shaken up the league since returning from injury, and it’s no accident we’ve steadily worked our way up the table since then. We’re proud and happy to have him here at Bayern. We had enquiries for Franck last summer, but we didn’t stop for one second and consider releasing him from his contract – quite the opposite, as we’ll try and have Franck sign an extension in 2009. No amount of money in the world would persuade us to change our opinion.“

So, Ribery said he is happy at Bayern, but he also dreams of other clubs, namely Barcelona, Man Utd, Chelsea and Real Madrid. He also said he prefers Real Madrid out of the 4 because he of the club's history.
Ribéry lanza un guiño al Real Madrid - Marca.com
(before anyone questions the authenticy of that article, since it's coming from Marca, they are quoting an interview Ribery gave to Kicker.)

Now, Madrid are looking for a new winger, Ribery likes Madrid --- 2+2=4 ?

I'm absolutely not bothered. Every player has a few prefered teams in his list.

Ribéry is contracted to FC Bayern, and will respect his initial contract. Possibility is, he will even extend it, and together with that, he'll extend his stay in Munich.

Rummenigge said it himself, there is no sum of money in the world that will make the board think for a second about selling Ribéry.

Someone can say, what if Ribéry stops performing well just to force the move? Well, in that case, don't worry. No, sincerely, don't worry. Because, Ribéry is not weak like that, I'm 300% sure on that.

With this being said, that article remains just an article.

Ribery still has a contract with Bayern until 2011 and i'm sure that he will respect it and even to have contract extension until 2014/2015.

I hope the board extend the contract of Ribery this season.

Exactly.

You couldn't have said it any better bro

It's fine if he'd like to play for Real Madrid one day. He's under contract until 2011. He'll probably even extend with us in this upcoming seasons.

Not bothered at all.
