Toni Underlines Bayern Loyalty
Italian goal-machine Luca Toni has once again moved to assure the Bayern Munich faithful that he has absolutely no intention of leaving the club.
The 30-year-old-summer signing from Fiorentina has enjoyed an amazing first season in the Bundesliga which has seen him score more goals in a debut season than any other striker in the club’s history. There has inevitably been rumours tipping the 39-goal man for a quick return to Italy, with Milan being a constant focal point of the speculation.
“Next year I will remain at Bayern,” insisted Toni.
"I will be able to play in the Champions League and I hope I can help the team have a starring role in the competition.
"I am very happy in Munich."
Toni did, however, repeat his desire to return to Italy down the road to end of his playing career.
"I would like to return because I have scored 91 goals in Serie A and I would like to reach the 100-goal landmark before the end of my career," he said.
"But considering that I want to play for many years still, that will only happen later on."

BAYERN, Toni: "Playing with Gattuso would be a pleasure"
Quote:
In Milan to present his new website, Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has declared: "Playing with Gattuso would be a pleasure, but he has a contract with AC Milan so he must decide what to do with his club; he has recently called me to congratulate for the victory of the Bundesliga, but I have no appointment with him; it's true that I have told my club that I would like to have some italian player to keep me company, but most of all to improve our quality"

A poll of 268 league players has been published in Kicker magazine on Monday, naming Frank Ribery the Bundesliga player of the year.
Ribery won 57.8 percent of the vote, well ahead of his Bayern Munich team mate Luca Toni of Italy, the league's leading scorer, who came in second place with 24.8 percent.
Werder Bremen ace Diego, a Brazilian playmaker, completed an all-foreign top-three with 8.5 percent.

Am Montag feiert Luca Toni seinen 31. Geburtstag.
|
Today (Monday, 26 May), Luca Toni celebrates his 31st birthday. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRAZYYYYYYYY BOY!)
As a present, there comes his first, official website Luca Toni Official Website: www.lucatoni.com.
It is currently in Italian and English.
Luca won't have a big celebration party, as a result of the training and preparations with his Italian national team mates for the Euro 2008 in Coverciano.

Toni wins it!
The bundesliga.de/en users have decided: FC Bayern's Luca Toni is the top player of the 2007/08 season!
The Italian finished on top of the voting with 29% of the votes. The FCB striker won ahead of his Bayern team-mate Franck Ribery (27.7%) and bagged another award after the league and cup double and the cannon for topping the goal-scoring charts.
New Bundesliga record
Toni's 24 goals in 31 matches set a new record. No other player has ever scored more goals in his Bundesliga debut season.
The Italian also set up five goals and was directly involved in 29 goals, more than any other Bundesliga player.
Toni was always fired up to score, as the stats reveal: 67 efforts on target were by far the most in the Bundesliga!

Haha, great website! But during the intro it says 'TWO AMAZING SEASONS IN BUNDESLIGA!' Well fingers crossed that this 'prediction' turns out to be true.

Toni Predicts Bayern-Fiorentina Final
Quote:
Bayern Munich hitman Luca Toni has predicted a Champions League final this season against former club Fiorentina.
The 31-year-old joined the Bavarians last year from the Viola, and had an absolutely stunning debut campaign, scoring 39 goals in all competition.
This coming season will be Toni’s first-ever in the Champions League and, in an interview with Calcio 2000, he was asked how he thought the Italian clubs would do.
"The Italians are always among the favourites to win the Champions League,” the Italy international explained.
“Inter and Roma come first, but there is also Juve and Fiorentina.”
Toni then predicted the possibility of a final against former club Fiorentina, a team he scored 47 goals for in just 67 games between 2005 and 2007.
"A Bayern-Fiorentina final in Rome is not a utopia,” he stated, “simply because in football there are no utopias.
“For sure Bayern, historically, are a club who are more accustomed to being a protagonist in certain competitions, but Fiorentina are carrying out an important project, and are achieving some excellent results. I would not be surprised if we were to meet in the final.”
Toni concluded by revealing that he hopes to play again in Italy before he decides to retire from the game.
"It is difficult to say right now, but the only thing I am sure about is that I would like to conclude my career in my country," he noted.

TONI COULD MISS SEASON OPENER
Quote:
Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni could miss the start of the season as he is struggling to recover from a calf injury.
The knock ruled Toni out of Bayern's trip to Japan last week, and general manager Uli Hoeness fears the Italy international will miss at least the rest of the pre-season.
"I cannot imagine Luca being able to play in the (DFB-Pokal) against Erfurt," he told the Bild newspaper.
"You cannot take muscular injuries lightly. I think the earliest he could possibly be back is for the opening game of the season against Hamburg."
Bayern's first competitive fixture of the 2008/09 season comes next Sunday in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, but they face a mouth-watering friendly against Italian champions Inter Milan on Tuesday, a game Toni will now miss.

Bad news ... No need to rush his recovery at this point though, it could only make things worse. We can do without him for a few matches.

Agreed. He'll be back and hopefully as strong as ever. Meanwhile fingers crossed that both Podolski and Klose can keep from getting injured as well at least until then.

Exactly, no.
But a good and solid performance, yes.
But i am worried about Klose. He hasn't convinced me. Sure, he scored a lot in his first games but died out later on.
If that's the case, we have to rely on Podolski or even Thomas Muller, if he's promoted to the senior team and comes in as a sub later on during a game.
But we do have lots of firepower; Altintop, ZeRo, Schweini...
We'll have to do with what we have.

Toni scored so many goals last season. He had a great goal ratio.
We need to see that repeatead somehow. Whether by Toni himself, or any of our other strikers.
