Donadoni blames Bayern Sunday 9 September, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roberto Donadoni has blamed Bayern Munich for Luca Toni’s injury and looks ahead to Wednesday’s must-win match in Ukraine.
Toni had hoped to recover from a thigh strain in time to face France last night, but instead was ruled out of next week’s Euro 2008 qualifier as well, so Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta received a late call.
“It is a shame about Toni, as his injury is not serious, but it is painful,” explained the Italy Coach.
“As soon as he kicked the ball, he felt these bad twinges in his thigh. I think in Germany they underestimated the extent of the problem. I really doubt he will play the next game with Bayern Munich.”
The former Fiorentina hitman suffered the injury while scoring a goal in the Bundesliga a fortnight ago and the diagnosis was more and more serious as time went on.
Toni was much missed in the 0-0 draw with France on Saturday evening, as Pippo Inzaghi could not play the same tactical role and was often left isolated upfront.
“I have no regrets, as we could not do any more than that. We have to start learning our own limitations,” said Donadoni of the reigning world champions. “The important thing was not to lose that game.”
The San Siro showdown also saw several other players pick up injuries, but the Coach was more reassuring.
“Andrea Pirlo just got a knock to the ankle. Daniele De Rossi had a few problems in the closing stages, while Gianluca Zambrotta had cramp. Of course we will miss Gennaro Gattuso due to his ban, but overall we should recover.”
As Scotland have leapfrogged Italy into second place in Group B, Wednesday’s trip to Kiev becomes even more decisive than the match with France.
“I am not making calculations. I certainly will not be happy with the draw in Ukraine, as we are going there to win.
“Today my collaborator will arrive and give me the low-down on our next opponents, having watched them closely during their 1-1 draw in Georgia last night. That is when I will start to prepare the match.”

Kiss my ass Donadoni.
Just because you don't have the capacity to make up a squad with injuries effective against other national teams doesn't make it our fault!
Germany has been with a lot of injuries lately and you don't see Joachim Loew blaming teams for the injuries. Maybe mentioning that there are harsh tackles and shit but doesn't point the finger to nobody!
Pff... What a loser! I hope this guy gets sacked soon...

I agree with every word you just said there ...
it's your problem Mr Donadoni to find a way to win between all of those injuries.
look at Hitz ... every week 2 new injuries in his squad .. he is hired to deal with those problems and to get the Maximum .

Quoted for truth.
Pathetic declarations from Donadoni.

Tbh, I thought it was wrong of Donadoni to pick Toni in the first lace he should have spoken with the Bayern's doc's before. His chioces upfront are weak, and he could have chosen someone else instea dof risking Toni and possibly making his injury even worse

Toni to miss Schalke clash?
The casualty list of Bayern Munich still includes the name of Luca Toni, back at the club early from the Italy team base as he continues to struggle with a pulled hamstring.
The goal-getter began rehab exercise in Munich on Monday, and will report to chief medical officer Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt on Thursday for a decision on his fitness to resume training.
If the answer is negative, Hitzfeld will not risk the Italian in Saturday’s showdown with Schalke.
The Munich boss rejected claims by Italy coach Roberto Donadoni that Bayern had underestimated the severity of Toni’s injury.
“It was never a secret that Luca has an injury,” Hitzfeld declared, “we did everything we could to get him fit, but it wasn’t enough.“

I'm worried about his injury now, seriously.
It never seemed serious first. But it has taken almost two weeks now, and he's still not fit.
I really hope he can pass the next text.
We really need him against Scheisse.
Forza Luca!

Dont think we should force Toni's comeback, no with Podolski back, we have more reliable options besides Klose. So now Toni should rest and heal properly

Try this out. When she is about to say yes or no, pull back and say, "nah, I change my mind" and sort of walk away.
See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.

Yeah, true.
But if he passes the test, then Hitz should play him.
He's important. His presence would be enough.

Thanks Aladino.
I was just going to post about this.
Just read that in the German version of Bayern website.
I'm waiting for the article in English.
Happy to hear about it.
Klose - Toni
+ Poldi as a sub.
We have an almost complete attack.

Actually, there may have been misunderstanding.
Toni only recieved the green light to resume training.
He still remains dobtful for Schalke clash.
Hitzfeld says whether Toni's fit will come down to the last few hours.
Quote:
|
The Bayern coach will also be pondering whether to risk Luca Toni against the Royal Blues. Dr Müller-Wohlfahrt gave the Italian the all-clear to resume training on Thursday, but Hitzfeld said he was waiting to see if the striker suffered a reaction to his hamstring injury. “Whether he’s fit will come down to the last few hours,” Hitzfeld remarked.
