Interesting, and yeah, I remember well when he turned his back on us in the last minute for Dortmund.
Considering that, I'm not sure if Hoeness still likes him.
Anyway, he's a good DM, but as Eric points out, he's kinda injury prone.
I've mixed feelings on this one. Maybe we should look for someone else?

I like Kehl, I think he's a good player and if we sign him, we could perhaps prevent Werder from signing him. But for injury prones we'll already have Borowski..

Mascherano wants to leave Liverpool. He is very very very expensive but he is a world class dm and definetly better than Kehl or Borowski.
Borowski -.-

Yes I agree, Mascherano would be the signing of the season if we can pull that off. He'd cost around 20-25m €, not that much considering that players in his class are nearly impossible to get.

Looking how the market is fucked up, and how some players are sold for triple more than they're really worth, 20-25 million for Mascherano is quite a reasonable price, he's a class DM. I think he will extend with Liverpool though. :/

I think Masch staying with Liverpool depends on Benitez staying or not. If Benitez goes, I doubt Masch will stay.
But even if he is available, I'm sure we'll have competition from the other big boys in Europe, it wouldn't be easy to sign him. The likes of Milan, Inter, Barça, Madrid or even Chelsea might make a move for him.

^ As DM i'd keep Ottl.
Kehl is too injury prone. Enough with Borowski.

Mascherano yeah there's a name I would like to see in our jersey. BUT he already plays in England and i think ManU was strongly interested in him last season.
I can not see him make a move to the Bundesliga when the top 4 in ENgland and SPain sure want to sign him

Barca Must Fight United For Lahm
Barcelona are set to have a transfer tussle with Manchester United over Bayern Munich full-back Philipp Lahm, according to German sports daily Bild.
The daily has suggested that the English side are preparing to offer £8.5 million for the defender and that Barcelona are watching the situation very closely, and willing to match the offer.
United seem as if they need some reinforcements in defence after the transfer of Gabriel Heinze to Real Madrid and the injury problems of Gary Neville. They are also set to lose Wes Brown, who has been playing on the right this season.
It was understood that Ferguson wanted to sign Alan Hutton in the summer, but the Scotsman has been snapped up by Tottenham, so the attention has turned towards Lahm, who is naturally right-footed but can play very well at left-back too.
However, the Blaugrana are also interested after rumours suggested that Gianluca Zambrotta - another player who is right-footed but accomplished at left-back - will be leaving for Milan in the summer.
Daniel Alves is also on the agenda, but Barcelona are aware that Sevilla might slap an unrealistic price tag on him, and Lahm appears to be plan B.
The German international has been influential for Bayern in recent seasons, but a big money deal could well see him swap the Allianz Arena for either Camp Nou or Old Trafford.
Lahm burst on the scene with some great displays during the 2006 World Cup, and has gone from strength to strength since. He has been linked with Barcelona in the past as well.
However, Jurgen Klinsmann is understood to be a big admirer of the player.

I doubt Lahm will go, especially if Klinsmann comes in. Lahm is young, he can leave at a later time, but he will enjoy continued success under Klinsmann. Maybe Bayern should slap an unrealistic price tag on Lahm like Sevilla are doing with Alves. That way if anyone is willing to pay a high price, then Bayern can get a really nice replacement.

I was afraid he'd go, and I was kinda sure he was going to leave us this summer.
But after the news that Klinsi will manage us next season has somehow made me not worry anymore.
Lahm will extend with us. He said so himself also.

I'll only rest when he has indeed renewed, in football everything can change in a blink of an eye and what someone says today means nothing tomorrow.

I agree with you Ollie ... Can't be sure until his name is on the dotted line. Hopefully Lahm stays at Bayern.

I think he will stay.
Keine neuen Stars für Klinsmann - Fussball | Bundesliga | Sport1.de
german article, the essential parts:
No new stars for Klinsmann
Quote:
"Ob Verteidigung, Mittelfeld oder im Angriff - ich sehe in keinem Mannschaftsteil irgendwelche Baustellen. Der Kader ist komplett", sagte Vorstandschef Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in der "Sport Bild" und fügte an:
"Wenn überhaupt, dann müssen wir geringfügig etwas tun. Vielleicht aber auch gar nichts."
|
Quote from Kalle:
"Defense, Midfield or Strikers - I don't see any deficits in any of those positions. The team looks set just the way it is right now"
"If we have to do something on the transfer market it will just be some minor adjustments. Or maybe even none at all"
Uli: "currently i don't see any need for new players"
Quote:
|
In their talks with Klinsmann they didn't have the impression that he desperatly wants any new players. Klinsi seems very happy with the current squad.
"Every year so much money like we spent last year is impossible anyway" quote Hoeness
..............
Well that settles it then. My thoughts on it will come in a new post

Ok let's analyze this from my point of view
Goal:Bayern made it clear they want to give Rensing a chance. We discussed that one enough in the other threads i think
Defense:
lahm/jansen/sagnol as fbs
micho/lucio/van buyten / breno as cbs.
Unless van Buyten wants to leave i do not see any need in the defense. We can match any team in the world there if lucio makes a disciplined game
Strikers:
Toni / Poldi /Klose /schlaudraff
NO discussion needed i think. Any club in the world would want the first 3
Offensive Midfield:
There's Ribery as a fixture and Hamit /schweini / KROOS / sosa battling for the other spots.
I would only see a need if klinsmann wants to play with an OM. But he also prefered the two DM lineup in the NT
Defensive Midfield
Ze/MVB/Ottl
Ok here is the big one in my eyes, this is gonna hurt us internationally i think
Ze is a class midfielder, but he is no leader and never will be. MVB might have leader qualities but i think he has poor tackling skills and is no use in opening the game offensivly
All the top contenders for the champions league look a lot better on this position
I would want a player similar to Pirlo here. Or de Rossi. OR yeah Mascherano. That guy has a running out contract at pool. I think it would be a great mistake if we didn't at least ask if he would fance coming to Säbener Strasse
