Inter are reportedly interested in young Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger and have already enquired about the possibility of signing him.

Coach Roberto Mancini is highly attracted to the idea of signing Schweisteiger from Bayern Munich even though this could prove to be a difficult operation.

The German attacking midfielder’s contract expires in 2009, therefore if he does not sign a new deal with his club by this summer, then Inter can try to make their move as Bayern Munich will not want to lose him on a free transfer the following year.

Thus Schweisteiger would be a possible summer transfer for Inter, but so far they have not received any signs on whether the German star will renew his Bayern Munich deal or opt to try a new adventure away from the club.

For the time being Inter will have to wait for new developments, but if the news is positive, they will be in the driver’s seat when the summer arrives.

When I think of his performances this and last season it surprises me that Inter wants him. But he definatly has Talent and Inter is searching for someone to replace Figo who is leaving in the summer. Although I think Figos footsteps are a bit too large for Schweinsteiger at the moment.

Yes, indeed. Schweini has been horrible this season.

But he's a great young talent, and this is only a dark period of his career.

Bayern will undoubtely have talks with him regarding a possible contract extension,
which I honestly can't see him turning it down.

The two main targets are Bayern Munich duo Sagnol and Lahm and the pair could be available in the summer as the former was set to move on last year and the latter has stated his desire to join Barça.

Bayern could be tempted to do business as Lahm's contract expires in 2009 and he has made it clear that he will not be keen to sit down and discuss an extension.
