Well remember Lucio will be 30 at the end of the season, it will probably be his last chance to move to a top European club.

I'm ok with it. He should have his dream. Lucio always played his heart out in every game for bayern and he always gave his best. It's fair enough that he wants to try a new challenge before it's too late for him...
The same thing as with Makaay. Wish him all the best as long as he doesn't play against us. I just do not know if that many clubs are really interested in signing him then. At teh end of the contract he is 31-32 maybe Milan. I can't see any of the top clubs in England or Spain sign him...

Next summer will probably be the best time to get some value back from him too. He's still young enough to be wanted and will have two years left on his contract. I'll hate to see him go if he does, but Bayern could get a good chunk of cash and buy some good younger players. In the long run it might be the best thing all around.

yes he goes to Dortmund most likely or Wolfsburg. Lehmann...
As far as Lucio is concerned I just checked he has contract until 2010. So yes agreed Zaphod if we really want any serious 10+ mio money we would have to sell him in 2008. BUT we also need a replacement then who is in the same class as lucio.
So we would end up paying twice what we get for Lucio for a player of equal skill/talent. Doesn't sound like a deal to me... As i know Bayern in the recent years he will stay till 2010 and then leave us for no transfer fee. Enough time for Breno to show what he is made off or to find someone else...

I'm afraid you're right and the same will happen with Lahm..
There are very few CB's in Lucio's league, he is IMO one of the top 5 best CB's in the world. The only players in Germany who could perhaps do a good job are: Bordon, Naldo, Mertesacker, Kompany and Meira. Perhaps Tasci and Delpierre if they keep developing their game.
But, I don't think any of those are available for a reasonable fee, Bordon and Meira are captains for their teams, Bremen won't sell us one of their CBs that's for sure and I can't see HSV selling Kompany for less than 15m €, I'm not sure he is worth that much either.
So we must really hope Breno is quality, otherwise, we're pretty much fucked

wow very much agreed. those are the names that also came to my mind. Meira and bordon are the same age as lucio so no real alternative anyway. We won't get Mertesacker who i rate very very highly. Naldo i don't he showed that he is lacking when he didn't have mertesacker in the decisive game vs piraeus...
kompany too injury prone and he doesn't start for hsv as cb but as dm lately
tasci: doubt he has the class
delpierre: very very interesting player in my eyes. maybe the best solution IN the bundesliga.
one more i would like to mention. Joris Mathijsen of Hamburg. played all games as starter. also set in the dutch nt. also one you might keep an eye on in the next 2 years

just to add this here from transfermarkt.de
Alan Hutton zum FC Bayern? - Forum: Gerüchteküche - transfermarkt.de
Quote:
First up we have the ever impressive Alan Hutton. Obviously his progress has alerted many clubs in recent months - not least in the last few days with his excellent display for Scotland at Hampden. Man Utd, Lazio, Newcastle and Spurs have all been linked with the right back but Gersnet have learned Bayern Munich have leapt to the front of the queue. With Willy Sagnol constantly being linked with a move out of the German league leaders, it seems Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Ottmar Hitzfeld have ear-marked Hutton as their first choice replacement if the Frenchman does leave.
|
tbh i don't know the player but he appearantly was voted as 8th best youth player in the world this year...
Quote:
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR
1 Lionel Messi (Barcelona & Argentina) 33.6
2 Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal & Spain) 22.8
3 Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United & Portugal) 14.8
4 Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid & Argentina) 10.4
5 Giovani dos Santos (Barcelona & Mexico) 6.3
6 Alexandre Pato (Internacional/Milan & Brazil) 4.2
7 Wayne Rooney (Manchester United & England) 2.1
8 Alan Hutton (Rangers & Scotland) 1.2
9 Robinho (Real Madrid & Brazil) 0.6
10 Anderson (Porto/Manchester United & Brazil) 0.4

William Gallas is doing great for Arsenal.
I would be delighted to see him in Bayern red.
I don't think we'll sign him anyway, but I think he's better than all the names mentioned from Oliver_Kahn.
I don't think we're going to bring on anyone else to be honest, I think the replacement is Breno himself, that's why they bought him.
Transfer for the future, that's how Rummenigge labeled him.

I'm not so sure if we need him. Besides, remember that we have Gorlitz on loan. Lell is doing a decent job on Sagnol's slot. I know they don't have the awesome crosses that Sagnol pulls out but oh well.
About the CB, maybe we can give Hummels a few tries and see how well he does. I know that he is young (like Breno) but i would like to see if a bayern product can pull of the job.

Yeah but remember that Ismael has left, van Buyten is too dodgy and Demichelis has lost his start of the season form. If we lose Lucio......
Gallas won't leave Arsenal, that's for sure.

Oh yeah Mathijsen totally forgot about him, but he is more of a Demichelis than a Lucio no ?
Delpierre is probably the best solution, but we first need to see how he recuperates from his injury, which was very serious

true. Mathijsen is more like Micho. I agree. If it's a replacement from the bundesliga Delpierre would be my favourite right now. He also is a lot like Mathijsen and Micho though. Not much for the offensive. but very good in the back
