Bayern Munich have expressed a renewed interest in signing Fiorentina hot shot Luca Toni.

The German champions have been long-term admirers of the Italy international and striker Lukas Podolski recently revealed he would welcome Toni to the Allianz Arena.

He again proved his credentials with both goals in Italy's 2-0 win over Scotland in Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier.

And his prowess in front of goal has led Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to outline his admiration for Toni.

"I like Toni a lot," Rummenigge told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I consider him to be a really useful player, he could do really good things at Bayern.

"Sure, many people want him and this complicates the operation, but at the end the decision is up to the player and maybe he wants to try an experience abroad.

"I don't like to talk a lot about our strategies, but the striker attracts us."

Toni is under contract at Fiorentina until 2009 and has acknowledged a wish to see out his career with the Viola, although he has put talks about his future on hold until the summer.

Fiorentina have vowed to do everything to keep Luca Toni at the club.

Toni has been strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich with the German giants confirming their interest in the free-scoring forward.

Viola president Andrea Della Valle revealed the club plan to talk to Toni at the end of the season to discuss his future.

"We will talk with him at the end of the season and we will try to do everything to ensure he remains in Florence," Della Valle told the Italian press.

"Facing the constant market rumours, I say the guy must be left in peace.

Toni is the symbol of this Fiorentina who are struggling for an important target to silence all those who at the beginning of the season considered us already relegated.

Bayern exec and retired idol Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that the Roten are considering making a bid for Luca Toni, the idea being that the Italian will be the ‘sandwich filling’ in the German attack, filling the gap between the age and experience of Roy Makaay and the youth and vim of Lukas Podoski.

“I really rate the way that he [Luca Toni] plays and believe that this player could do spectacular things with us at Bayern. Bayern Munich are ready to make an offer for Fiorentina striker Luca Toni, according to reports in Germany.

The Italian international, who scored a brace in Wednesday’s win over Scotland in the do or die Euro 2008 clash, is today being paired with the Bundesliga outfit in a £35m deal.

The Bild newspaper has claimed that last year’s top scorer was in Germany over the weekend, when he allegedly met the club’s general manager Uli Hoeness.

According to Bild, Toni has already started looking for a new house in Munich, fuelling speculation that a move is on the cards.

Bayern, who will face Milan in the Champions League quarter-finals next month, are willing to pay up to £35m for the former Palermo man, an offer which Fiorentina are unlikely to turn down.

The Gigliati already have an excellent alternative in Under-21 starlet Giampaolo Pazzini and might re-invest part of the Toni fee on Reggina’s Rolando Bianchi.

Toni, who is also a reported target for Juventus and Inter, could be tempted by a German switch given the likelihood of Champions League football next term.

Franck Ribery has revealed he has an agreement with Marseille's majority shareholder and other club officials which will allow him to leave at the end of the season.

The French international is being strongly linked with a summer exit from the Stade Velodrome, with clubs across Europe known admirers of the playmaker.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are all strong candidates to sign Ribery, although l'OM have slapped a €20million (£13.5million) price tag on their star.

Ribery is desperate to play UEFA Champions League football next season and the 24-year-old has an agreement with majority shareholder Robert Louis-Dreyfus to let him depart in the summer.

"No club has contacted me directly," Ribery told L'Equipe. "And if my agent or my club has been contacted I don't want to know it before the end of the season.

"I ask my agent not to tell me anything. My priority is to finish the best with Marseille.

"Has Robert Louis-Dreyfus given me his agreement to let me leave in the summer? Yes and the officials did too. I trust them to fulfil their commitment.

"Do I want to leave in June? Very honestly, it will depend on Champions League qualification.

"I also would like to discover new foreign leagues like England or Spain. But you can understand I can't talk a lot about that."

Ribery, who has recently returned from a month out with a broken foot, hopes Marseille will finish in the top three and claim a spot in next season's Champions League.

"We have eight matches remaining and I keep faith for Champions League qualification," he added. "Third position is just a few points away.

"I say it clearly: I want to play in the Champions League, it is my main personal aim."
