Schwarzer Munich Move Reignited
Mark Schwarzer is reportedly the subject of renewed interest from Bayern Munich but his current club have today insisted he has not told them he wants to quit Middlesbrough.
It is no secret the 35-year-old is anxious for a two-year contract as he looks towards the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
His current deal on Teeside runs out at the end of the season and the keeper is free to talk to other clubs.
Munich is one possible destination with European Champions League football almost guaranteed for next season.
Italian clubs Juventus and Fiorentina are also thought to be monitoring his situation.

Mertesacker: I'm Staying At Werder
German international defender Per Mertesacker has rejected speculation linking him with a move to Bayern Munich, pledging his future to current side Werder Bremen.
Reports in Germany had suggested the 23-year-old centre-back had already reached an agreement with Uli Hoeness and co to follow teammate Tim Borowski to the Allianz Arena this summer.
But in an interview with tabloid Bild, Mertesacker denied anything had ever happened with the Rekordmeister.
No Contact Made
"In actual fact I never had any contact with them," he revealed. "When I heard that Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had rung up Werder to deny any interest in me I thought that that would be the end of all this. Werder, Bayern and I have all made it clear - the subject has been dealt with."
The defender admitted to having contact with incoming Bayern boss Jürgen Klinsmann, but stressed that that stemmed from the manager's days as head coach of Germany.
Bayern Munich matters have never been discussed, he continued, admitting to being a little surprised by Klinsmann's appointment at the Allianz Arena. "He's never trained a club before," Mertesacker pointed out. "But I'm happy for him."
New Deal At Werder?
As for his own career, Mertesacker revealed he would sit down with Werder sporting director Klaus Allofs at a later date to discuss his future at the Weserstadion. "I signed here for four years because I really wanted to establish myself," he said of his decision to join Bremen from Hannover after the 2006 World Cup.
"A lot can happen between now and 2010 and I'd like to reach new heights with Werder. The aim is to develop myself at Werder and to give the mighty Bayern a challenge. The signs are good because of the club's smart transfer policy.

Merte I love you
About Schwarzer he would be a really good backup for Rensing. But I think Ziegler as No.2 or Frey as No.1 would be a better choice.

I can understand the rumor.
At the start of next season; Lucio, Breno & Demichelis will be at the Olympics.
So there is a slight chance it has some truth into it.
Besides, I think Lucio has stated that we is interested in leaving.

Hold on, hold on. 'Will be' is a strong statement. The club has refused several times to let them go (Lucio and Micho). Breno will definately play though, as he's a proper U23 player.

That's true, but one thing is for sure: Lucio is not leaving this summer.
I have personally not seen Barzagli much. But, people rate him a lot, and the fact that big guns in Italy want him aswell speak enough how good he is.
I think he would be a good investment. Lucio will play for minimum one more year, so that leaves only Micho as a strong CB. When Lucio leaves, we could see Barzagli-Micho partnership.
But, I'm afraid Barzagli wouldn't move to spend a year warming the bench.
And, also, we do have Van Buyten and Breno in line, so, I have mixed feelings over the transfer of Barzagli.
Toni would love to see him join though, I'm pretty much sure.
According to this article, Bayern are ready to offer €11.5m (!!), beating the competition of Juventus and Fiorentina.

Squad planning | Chairman: Price is not the decisive factor
“That’s the first definite trophy,” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge declared after last Saturday’s DFB Cup triumph in Berlin. The Bundesliga shield is all but certain to land in Munich hands, and the Reds are through to the UEFA Cup semi-finals. The first-ever treble in the club’s history remains a possibility.
Almost exactly a year earlier, Bayern lost 2-0 to VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, ending their lingering hopes of snatching the title and all but ruling them out of the running for a Champions League qualifying berth. That performance, the board has repeatedly stated, was the signal for a dramatic overhaul of the playing staff.
Nine out, ten in
In the summer, nine players left the club and eight joined, with one more leaving and one arriving over the winter. Bayern’s spending dwarfed all previous records, with €25 million going to Olympique Marseille for Franck Ribéry, and more than €10 million apiece invested in Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni.
These record sums will not be beaten in summer 2008. “We don’t need to go shopping like we did last year. We’d finished fourth, we missed our targets, and needed to make changes. We have a good team now, so we don’t need as much strengthening,” chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge related to fcbayern.de.
Rensing deputy required
Rummenigge only sees a pressing need for a number two goalkeeper. “Michael Rensing will succeed Oliver Kahn, but we need an experienced man who’s happy to come here as number two.“ The Bayern chief confirmed talks with “a few candidates”.
However, the chairman did not rule out potential big-name signings. “The decisive factor is not the price, but whether a particular player would make us stronger. If we find someone who we believe fits the team both as a player and a personality, I could imagine us bringing him in.“
Lahm allows deadline to pass
Jan Schlaudraff’s switch to Hanover 96 was sealed on Tuesday, will likely depend on whether other players choose to try their luck elsewhere or decline new contracts. That is the present situation with Philipp Lahm, where the club has withdrawn its offer of an extension to his current deal, which expires on 30 June 2009.
”Unfortunately, we couldn’t agree on a contract extension. Philipp didn’t want to make a decision at the moment, so the talks ended without an agreement,” reported Rummenigge, although a deal at a later date has not been ruled out. “But we set a deadline and it passed. We made him what we considered an excellent and fair offer, but Phillip doesn’t want to accept it at the moment. We have to accept that. It was a joint decision, and we’ll see what the future holds.“
No hurry
Rummenigge emphasised that Bayern were keen to hold contract talks soon “especially with the younger players, in the hope we can find fair solutions. We have a few players out of contract in 2009.“ The group includes Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Christian Lell and Mark van Bommel, although Rummenigge feels there is no time pressure: “We’ll come to it all in good time."

Lahm In Juve Link
Juventus have emerged as the latest big name club reportedly vying for the signature unsettled Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm.
The news that Bayern withdrew their offer of a contract extension has created quite a feeding frenzy around the highly-rated 24-year-old full-back, who famously scored the opening goal of the World Cup in Germany against Costa Rica.
Barcelona, Manchester United and AC Milan have all been credited with an interest for the attack-minded defender, who is almost always deployed as left-back despite the fact that he is right-footed.
Bayern supremo Franz Beckenbauer has recently delcared that the exit of Philipp Lahm from the club is by no means definite, despite many signs pointing to the contrary. Lahm’s current Bayern contract runs until 30th June 2009, but has already stated in an interview with ‘Stern’ magazine that he wants to move abroad this summer.

Lahm To Barcelona A Done Deal?
The transfer of Bayern Munich full back Philipp Lahm to Barcelona is almost a done deal according to reports in the Spanish press.
The Spanish sports paper ‘As’ has reported that the defender has come to agreement with the Catalan giants over a four year contract.
What is unclear though is whether the 24 year old will join this summer for a fee, or arrive next summer on a free transfer.
“Philipp Lahm has a contract with us until 2009 and I believe that he will fulfil it” commented Bayern Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The German club recently withdrew their offer of an extension to the international’s contract after his demands were deemed to high. Lahm looks set to be a direct replacement for Gianluca Zambrotta, who is poised to return to his homeland, probably with AC Milan.
Even though Bayern manager Uli Hoeneß explained that the club’s decision to withdraw the contract offer didn’t mean the door was closed on Lahm, the player admitted in an interview with ‘Stern’ that his mind was made up.
“My decision is set. My career plan means that one day I will leave FC Bayern and not just when I have reached my peak” he said.
“For me the logical step is play abroad.”

Schwarzer, Keller tipped for possible Bayern move
Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is holding talks with Bayern Munich with a view to a summer transfer, while reports suggest U.S. national team keeper Kasey Keller is also in the running.
With first-choice Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, 38, and third-choice Bernd Dreher, 41, both retiring at the end of the season, the Rekordmeister wants to bring in several new but experienced faces.
Current second-choice keeper Michael Rensing is tipped to make the step up to become Bayern's starting shotstopper, but bosses at the Allianz Arena are keen to bring in Schwarzer, who would be available on a free transfer and is keen to quit Middlesbrough.
"It would be nice to finish my career in the Bundesliga," commented the 35-year-old Aussie, who played four games for Kaiserslautern in the 1995-96 season.
Meanwhile, Kicker magazine is reporting that Bayern is also considering another ex-Bundesliga and current Premiership keeper in Fulham's Keller.
The veteran former Borussia Mönchengladbach man would also be available on a free transfer, though at 38 years of age he's considered more of an outsider than Schwarzer.

Both are nowhere near Bayern class, specially Schwarzer. Keller used to be good a few season ago, but now he is crap (see his Fulham performance last weekend vs Liverpool for example).
I hate the fact that Rensing will start, that is terrible news and will cost us a lot in CL..
