The only keepers in Kahn's league aren't available (Buffon, Cech, Casillas). Then we have Frey, who I rate quite highly and also Adler of course.
Other than those 2, I can't think of anyone else good enough and that would be interested in a move to München.

I still think highly of Boruc.
If the approach towards Adler fails, my vote goes to Boruc.

Yeah, Frey would be a great buy, he's undoubtely better than Boruc. Buffon and Cech are in another level, they're unreachable I think. I don't rate Casillas a lot, he concedes a lot, and has a weakeness - shots from distance and freekicks, he 'eats' them like cakes. He still is better than a Rensing or a Boruc, but again, he's unreachable.
We should try and approach Fiorentina for Frey, why not. If I remember correctly, we were rumored to be interested in him early this season (or last season).

I'd prefer Frey tbh, Boruc as last resort.
But other than those 3, there aren't more good options, all the other top class goalkeepers aren't available.

Fiorentina aren't going to let Frey go this summer.
And if they are, AC Milan will probably obtain the dude. They have a worst "keeper issue" than we do.

^ Problem with Frey is that we have a better chance into obtaining Adler than Frey. Why? He has been linked too many times with a move to AC Milan. And they will be willing to go the extra mile with him. They have a worst "keeper crisis" than we do.

Debatable about Casillas, but pointless to discuss that seeing as he isn't available by any means.

Totally and the fact that Luca Toni is having so much success here, could help convince Frey of a move to München or swing it in our favour in case some other club tries to get him.
Serie A fans rate him as the second best goalkeeper in Italy atm (ahead of the likes of Amelia, J.Cesar and Doni). Just Buffon ahead of him, but that is no shame, because Buffon is the best in the world.

They have been linked with several other goalkeepers and they currently are in a better market position than we are, so if they miss out on Frey, they can get someone else. Plus, they have been linked a lot with Boruc.
*btw, shouldnt this be moved to the transfer talk thread?*

The same could be said about Luca Toni (Pippo and Ronaldo are injured for 3/4 of the season and Gilardino can't hit a cow from 5 inches), but still we got him.

Doesn't mean anything if Milan is interested in him aswell. You can always beat them to secure Frey's services, just like we did with Toni, when we beat a number of Italian teams.
Frey's undoubtely 2nd best keeper in Italy, after Gigi Buffon.
And yeah, move all those goalkeeper posts to the transfer talk thread. We've competely went out of topic here.

Just in, from the official website of FCB:
Quote:
Rummenigge: Kein Interesse an Artur Boruc
|
A possible transfer of Artur Boruc to Bayern is a no discussion issue.
Rummenige has categorically denied the recent media reports.
Rummenige has re-stated that Rensing will be our number 1 goalie next season.
He says they have given him the promise he'll be the successor of Oliver Kahn.

Pretty much agreed with you guys here. Just to add to this here's one from hoeness after the game vs Leverkusen:
Quote:
|
Artur Boruc will not join Bayern. Hoeneß has denied any rumors that the german giant wants to sign artur boruc
"There is absolutely nothing to it. Sepp Maier was not there. This story has 0 % truth in it"
*sighs* ah my another lame duck. Seriously if you make up a rumor to sell your paper you should at least make it believable. Sepp Maier scouting Klinnsmanns new goalie ??? After their history ??? Oh come on. That's like Heather Mills being bride's maid for Paul McCartneys next wedding
I know i also always said to give the kid (Rensing) a chance. But the closer the day comes he will actually take over the more uneasy i get.
If i was Hoeneß in Fm08 I'd cash out some big money to sign either Frey or Adler. I only see one single thing that would mean no to Adler and that is that he has a history of injuries. Before he got his chance in Leverkusen he was out for 8 months with knee problems and before that with serious back problems. The same back problems that sidelined him last month.
Other than that you are buying the future Number 1 in Germany and in my eyes in 5 years one of the best 3 goalies on the planet. Bargain deal.
