Lucio Poised For Bayern Exit
Quote:
Bayern Munich defender Lucio is being linked with a summer move to Barcelona after revealing his desire to play in either Spain or Italy.
Reports in Munich’s Abendzeitung claim the Brazilian has been offered a four-year contract with the Catalan giants and will move at the end of the season after spending eight years in the Bundesliga.
The imposing centre back has yet to confirm or deny the story but did hint that he is ready for a new challenge in his career. He joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2000 before moving to Bayern in 2004.
"I have already said the leagues in Spain, Italy and England - three of the strongest in the world - all interest me" Lucio told the Munich newspaper.
"If interest is shown from any of these countries, I would be very pleased.
"Bayern have already told me they want to keep me. But all clubs say that to their players if they are still under contract.
"If interest is shown by another club for a player, there is usually a few conversations and a solution is found fast."
Bayern Munich have previously said that there will not be a round of spending like was seen at the start of this season, but that may have to change if Lucio leaves and a replacement has to be found.
The name of German international Per Mertesacker has already been mentioned and incoming Bayern trainer Jürgen Klinsmann is a confirmed fan.
With Miroslav Klose leaving Werder for Bayern last summer and Tim Borowski about to make the same journey this summer; Werder will no doubt fight tooth and nail to keep hold of their man.

This makes me sad, as Lucio is one of our best players. He has been with Bayern for a long time and in the bundesliga for a very long time, maybe that is why he will want to go -- to try out other leagues before he retires. Bayern should do something to hold on to him, but with klinsmann coming in, maybe Lucio realizes that Klinsmann might prefer German players -- who knows. If Lucio moves out, we have to get a another world class CB, but Per Mertesacker is still a ways from world class IMO -- I think he has what it takes in potential, but next season worries me in the CL, since Lucio and Demichelis have CL experience -- and with a new coach next season, I would hate to see us struggle in the CL with so many changes.

Juve Set To Bid For Lucio – Report
Quote:
Juventus are set to launch a summer transfer bid for want-away Bayern Munich defender Lucio, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
The 29-year-old is widely considered as Brazil’s best central defender, and has been at Bayern since signing for them from Bayer Leverkusen in 2004.
However he yesterday admitted that he may leave the Bavarian giants after revealing his desire to play in Italy, Spain or England.
"I have already said the leagues in Spain, Italy and England - three of the strongest in the world - all interest me" Lucio told Abendzeitung.
"If interest is shown from any of these countries, I would be very pleased. Bayern have already told me they want to keep me. But all clubs say that to their players if they are still under contract.”
The Corriere says that Juventus have watched Lucio on a number of occasions this season, and are ready to make a summer bid.
Lucio has played 70 times for the Brazilian national team, and was a star at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea, where he picked up a winners medal.
The classy stopper, who is famous for sparking counter-attacks by bringing the ball out from the back, rejected moves to Juventus and Roma in order to join Bayern in 2004.

It will suck so badly if Lucio does leave.
I don't think we'll find such a good partnership (Demichelis-Lucio) in a while if he does go.

True. It took us some years to set again a rock solid CB with Lucio and Micho. And to change it so soon...? Not a good idea.

All pretty much nonsense those transfer speculations lately.
Hoeness yesterday was totally surprised when a reporter asked him about lucio leaving and he said he would have come to his office by now if that was so and you shouldn't listen to what spanish or italian "news" papers write all day long cause 90 % if the trash anyway

Bayern Eyeing £10 Million Boruc
Quote:
Reports in the Scottish media claim that Bayern Munich are keen on signing Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc as a long-term replacement for Oliver Kahn.
The Daily Record are reporting that Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich want to prise the Polish keeper away from Parkhead as they look to find a successor to the great Oliver Kahn, who is retiring at the end of the season.
Michael Rensing has long been thought of as the natural heir to Kahn’s number one jersey, but the arrival of Jürgen Klinsmann in the summer to replace the out-going Ottmar Hitzfeld could see him bring in his own man and the Pole is in the reckoning.
Celtic recently tied the international keeper to a new deal, but that will not deter a club of Bayern’ resources or AC Milan, who are also reportedly interested.
Klinsmann has first-hand experience of the Celtic player's ability after Boruc's outstanding performance for Poland against Germany at the 2006 World Cup and it seems the keeper has remained in the thoughts of the new Bayern trainer.
Unusually, Bayern sent former keeper Sepp Maier to Scotland to do their scouting on Aberdeen ahead of their UEFA Cup last-32 clash against last month.
The game in question was against Celtic at Pittodrie and sources in Munich understand the reason for this was the club wanted the legendary Maier, who is also Bayern's goalkeeping coach to look at Boruc first hand.
Bayern striker Lukas Podolski, who is of Polish descent, has already spoken of his desire to see Boruc at the Allianz Arena.
“I would like very much that, after Kahn, we could have Boruc” he said.
“I want him in the team because he is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
“I like to watch him, especially in the Champions League, because they do not show the Scottish league in Germany.
“Also, I would help him from the first day that he would stay at the club” Podolski added.

^ I like Boruc a lot. I'm a Rensing fan but i wouldn't mind having him here (even though it is an asshole thing to do to Rensing)

How about that African goalie from Bolton? He was fabulous against us in the UEFA Cup & put on another brilliant performance yesterday against ManU.

I like Boruc better. I've seen him many times playing for Celtic in the Champions League. He has pulled off some great saves there. That's something important. That he is able to play well under CL pressure.

I hope the Boruc reports are true. He's a very good goalkeeper, a lot better than Rensing. I just don't feel secure with Rensing in goal anymore. We need a new goalie, whether that is Boruc or not.

Boruc would be great. After seeing the last few Rensing performances, I believe Bayern would do better to get a good keeper like Boruc. I still like Rensing, but it seems that with Bayern playing in the CL next season, we need someone who can handle the pressure, and it seems that Rensing may not be up for it yet -- which is probably why this story/rumour could be true about Bayern looking at Boruc.
