Lahm means business, and I guess at some point he would leave Germany, so now is as good of a time as any.

Well Rummenigge said Lahm will stay next season, so I'm guessing he either renews or will leave for free..

I had the feeling that Lahm is having second thoughts.

If those reports are true, than this is great news!

Yooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooo !!! YEs Its True !! Its Greaaat

Lahm Won't Leave After All
Philipp Lahm's latest comments strongly suggest that he has had a change of heart and is no longer pushing for a move away from Bayern Munich.

Quote:
The highly regard German international looked all set to leave the Allianz in the summer, with Bayern surpemo Franz Beckenbauer even going as far as saying that Lahm would join either Barcelona or Manchester United.

Now, it appears that he is set to pen a contract extension with the Bavarian giants after positive talks with incoming coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

"I had very many good discussions with the board but also with the new coach Jurgen Klinsmann," revealed the 24-year-old.

"I am now very confident we can do well [in the Champions League] in the near future."

The talented full back cited his desire to win the Champions League as one of the major motivations for him wanting to leave, but he has evidently been sold on Bayern's blueprint for the future.

That is outstanding!! When I saw this news everywhere today I was super happy. It also seems Sagnol wants to stay on board too. Does it still mean one of the wingbacks will move on? If they all don't then all these rumours about Bayern linked with other Wingbacks might not happen. This all makes everything very interesting. And why would Bayern want to get additional players when they have top class in Lahm. I believe that Klinsmann will get the best out of everyone next year -- which should make us unbelievably strong, as we weren't as strong as we could have been this year and look how well we did. If we get Gatusso, and with Borowski coming in as well, then the midfield ought to look interesting as well -- with rumours of even Schweinsteiger looking to stick around. Hmm. I guess Gattusso and a keeper and we should be set.

Great news! Glad he's changed his mind about leaving. In my opinion he's one of the most important players at Bayern and while I was all for Bayern selling him if he really wanted to leave, I am of course very happy about the fact that he's staying at München for FOUR more years!

Philipp Lahm pledges his future to Bayern

16.05.2008

Friday brought two pieces of good news for Philipp Lahm. On the one hand, he was called up as expected by Germany coach Joachim Löw to the national squad for EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland this summer. And on the eve of the last match of the 2007-8 Bundesliga season, he agreed the terms of a three-year extension to his current contract with champions Bayern, keeping him in Munich until 30 June 2012.

"I'm delighted about it, otherwise I wouldn't have done it,“ Lahm commented ahead of a final pre-match training session on Friday. Talks with the board and incoming coach Jürgen Klinsmann in recent weeks had been "very productive. I sense a real new beginning here, and that's what persuaded me,“ he told the respected Süddeutsche Zeitung.

One for the future

Current boss Ottmar Hitzfeld welcomed the 24-year-old international's decision to pull on a red jersey for the foreseeable future. "I'm delighted for Philipp Lahm and for Bayern. This is naturally the best decision he could have made - a Bavarian is staying at Bayern,“ the General commented in his final pre-match news conference at the Säbener Strasse. "The future belongs to Philipp Lahm. He's a terrific player, and already one of the best in the world.“

Only four weeks ago, Bayern withdrew an initial contract extension offer after talks stalled and the player allowed a deadline to pass without a decision. However, the board never gave up hope of reaching agreement with the Munich-born full-back. "I'm very optimistic that Philipp will remain at Bayern beyond 2009,“ chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the tz tabloid last Friday.

Oh thank god. Despite him not playing as well, it would've sucked if we lost him.
I'm very glad to hear that he extended his contract.

Awesome news, I am delighted with Lahm extending .
Sad that today it will be Kahn's last match for Bayern .

Good news is that Lahm has extended, for two reasons. We'll still have him at the club (1), but, if he doesn't play good we can always sell him, and now for a good price (2).
