Schweini Leaving .... will break my heart.

He is my favourite player since day one he played for Bayern, his place in the Starting XI is guaranteed if Klinssy tries his as CAM, or if not as RM .

Schweini seems very happy at Bayern, and very motivated aswell.

I am very sure he will extend his contract.

Quote:
Future oriented
Schweinsteiger: 'Bayern is my home'

He was benched, then he was banned, and he ended up a hero - Bastian Schweinsteiger's Euro 2008 was a real emotional roller-coaster. "Very good in phases," Jürgen Klinsmann commented on the midfielder's curate's egg of a European championship. Three weeks after Germany's defeat to Spain in the final, Schweinsteiger himself said he had "moved on. I don't really want to talk about the Euro any more. The past counts for nothing in football.“

The future is where Schweinsteiger's thoughts are directed right now. The player, who will be 24 on 1 August, is looking ahead with great confidence. "There's a lot happening, everything's on an upward curve, we're moving in positive regions," he declared, just two days after reporting back to the Säbener Strasse for pre-season.

Confident and hungry

His goal for the coming season with Germany's leading club was to "make my contribution and be as successful as possible." However, Schweinsteiger is perfectly well aware of the intense battle for places in midfield, which has become even more daunting since the arrival of Tim Borowski this summer.

"I showed what I'm capable of at the Euro," he commented, turning briefly to the past again as he eyed up the new campaign. Explosive, eager to shoot and lively were Schweinsteiger's main qualities as the European championship entered its decisive phase, although that had something to do with the switch to a 4-5-1 formation, the player reasoned. "I had more of a free role and was able to express myself a lot more in attack," he explained.

Contract expires soon

Two days after returning to the club, Schweinsteiger felt unable to say whether he would fill a more attacking or defensive role this term. "I can play on the left, on the right or in the centre. It's the coach's decision," he remarked.

More of a certainty is the fact that this is a pivotal season for Schweinsteiger, as his contract expires in mid-2009. He joined Munich back in 1998 and made his professional debut in November 2002. He has now clocked up 153 Bundesliga appearances (15 goals) in a Bayern shirt, and is planning to add many more to that number. "I'll be talking to Bayern before I talk to anyone else," he promised, "because Bayern Munich is my home.“

‘Very good progress'
Schweinsteiger takes the next step

Quote:
Had anyone bothered to record the match stats for Tuesday evening’s Olli Kahn testimonial, Bastian Schweinsteiger would surely have topped the charts for shots at goal with half-a-dozen long-range efforts. “He was utterly determined to put one past me: at the near post, with one that bounced – he tried everything, but I was equal to it,” Kahn observed with a huge grin.

Kahn and Schweinsteiger boast contrasting personalities, but have more in common than the mere fact they were team-mates. Kahn has closely followed the progress made by the man 15 years his junior, often critically. For his part, Schweinsteiger has frequently acted on the older man’s advice.

Roller-coaster Euro

The legendary keeper addressed the subject again on Tuesday. “He’s ambitious, and I reckon he’s taken a huge step forward recently,” the 38-year-old declared, “he dictates the pace, and he’s maturing into a genuine playmaker.“

Jürgen Klinsmann inclines to agree with Kahn’s assessment. “I regard his development as very positive. Bastian is growing as a dominant force,” said the Bayern coach, who got to know the Bavarian native in his time as Germany boss. “His roller-coaster Euro has taken him another step towards maturity.“ Schweinsteiger began the summer tournament on the bench and contrived to be sent off against Croatia, but was one of Germany’s best players from the quarter-finals onwards.

“He started the Euro with downs and then it was all ups. He battled his way out of a tricky corner, he showed resolve and initiative, and he rose to the challenge, which shows he’s ready for more responsibility," Germany Team Manager Oliver Bierhoff commented on Wednesday, “we’re delighted with the way he’s played recently. His approach - positive, with flair and passion – makes us think he has what it takes to be a real leader." Indeed, Schweini captained his country in Kahn’s farewell match.

After a handful of colourful off-field incidents in the early part of his career, Schweinsteiger appears to have accepted new levels of responsibility, both personally and within the team. “Bastian knows we make no distinction between training and matches. We never let up, we always require 100 percent. He’s taken that on board, and that’s what he wants too,” remarked Klinsmann, “he’s been extremely focused in training.“

Klinsmann believes the player is nowhere near fulfilling his potential yet: “There could be a lot more to come.“ The midfielder, already with two goals this term and thus level with his total for the whole of last season, agrees with his coach: “I know I can get better, and actions speak louder than words." However, he seems unlikely to forget his sense of humour, as proved by his answer to the Bayern Yearbook question as to what he would miss about Oliver Kahn this term: “Because now we won’t have anyone who enters the dressing room for training on the morning after a match in the same clothes he was wearing on matchday.“

After his dissapointing last season, he has improved very much. Euro 2008 gave him a real boost, and he is continuing with that fine form.

He will be offered a contract extension, sooner or later.

Bayern keen to keep Bastian

Quote:
Bundesliga champions hope winger will stay
Bayern Munich are hoping to persuade Bastain Schweinsteiger to pen a new contract with the club.

The Germany international is currently tied to the Bundesliga giants until 2009, but is attracting interest from abroad.

Negotiations regarding a new deal broke down in May, rousing the attention of interested parties keen to add the combative winger to their squad.

With Schweinsteiger having captained his country in the recent World Cup qualifiers, Bayern realise they must act quickly if they are to avoid losing one of their prized assets to a European rival.

"We are anxious to keep to him," said club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"Bastian's development is very satisfying, he has been playing outstandingly well."

Schweini is learning Italian, but he explicitly said people shouldn't take it the wrong way, it has nothing to do with his future plans.

Thus far (this season) he has been our best player. And I only hope he'd continue like this. To me, he has turned into a real leader. (And, I can't believe what a positive turn he's made after the very dissapointing last season he had). I've specially been impressed by his crosses lately, they're been soooo precise.

Is it me, or he looks like Effenberg? I mean, he's developing that kind of attitude.

What is taking so long for that contract to be extended?!

Schweinsteiger Only Thinking Of Bayern

Quote:
Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger says he is flattered by interest from Serie A but is only thinking of his current team at the moment...

The winger's contract runs out next summer and he has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus, who are looking to find a replacement for the ageing Pavel Nedved.

These rumours have been further fuelled by the fact that Schweinsteiger has been studying the Italian language, but he told Itasportpress that nothing will be decided until his contract is close to expiry.

"I am glad to know I have many admirers around Europe," said the German international. "I learned of contact from Juve, Inter, and Milan but also from England."

The 24-year-old had a diplomatic answer when asked where he would like to end up in the future: "No priorities. Both Serie A and the Premier League are big championships, as is the Bundesliga this season that will showcase plenty of talent that comes from all over Europe. It will be a nice tournament where as always Bayern have started as the favourites."

Schweinsteiger scored the first goal of the 2008/09 Bundesliga season and concluded by hoping some of his goals will have an impact for the Bavarian club.

"I hope that, as has happened in recent years, one of the goals I score will be central to our seasonal objectives."

It will be interesting to see how the inevitable Schweinsteger transfer saga ends next summer.
