Schweinsteiger urged to stay
...Bastian Schweinsteiger and the board are talking about the midfielder's current deal, set to expire in 2009. "In Bastian's case, I'm very optimistic about finding a solution," Rummenigge revealed. "He wants to stay, and we're interested in keeping players like him.“

I hope he stays ... still has potential to turn into one of Germany's all-time great - at least I think so. Let's not forget he's got a ton of caps and is still very young.

Yeah. He has the ability to improve.
Hope he wips into shape and finds a way to keep it up for long periods of time.

I know he plays mostly on the left, but has he played much on the right of midfield?

His prefered position is the left wing, and he used to play in the left wing, until Ribéry came.

That should be solved with Klinsmann coming in though if he implements the 4-1-2-1-2 formation.
It would make both Ribery and Schwini happy b/c I don't think either would mind playing the CAM role.
It's better than having Bastian on the right at least. He loves to take touches to the middle of the field and fire a shot with his right, something he can't do playing the right wing.
I genuinely hope he extends. I'm a huge fan of his (obviously)

I think he is more suited on the right, I saw him against Getafe on the right, he was deadly there aswell.

As long as Bastian's on the field in a Bayern kit, I'm happy. BM would be foolish to let him get away. I think he has potential to be a great CAM> and I think JK will let him try it out ... he has played there for the GNT also.

Who? Ribéry? That's not true!
He has told Hitzfeld his prefered position is left wing, but he can play on the right whether needed, or even as an old-fashioned no.10, like in Ligapokal.
Ribéry is not efficient in the right or as like an old-fashioned no.10. That can be seen clearly.
Left wing and that's it. His position is not going to change anyway, I'm pretty much sure.
Schweini can play CAM.

I'm sure you noticed, why does Ribery take the left flank although he's right footed? simple he, tends to charge up from the left side up to the penalty box, then at the right moment he slips trhough the center and takes a shot or makes an assist, thats the reason he takes the left, while if he's on the right he has only to depend on doing assists since he isnt too confident shooting with his left. I agree he isnt suited for the Number 10 position, Ballack and Effenberg were the only ones who can do that, Schweini is more of a winger too. Thats why we have Ze Roberto who sometimes acts like the provider from the center and goes to attack midfield and we have Van Bommel who acts like the defensive midfield. I think(and hope) that Borowski can cover the whole center midfield and can provide the push to the forwards.

Schweinsteiger Reveals Premier League Interest
Germany winger Bastian Schweinsteiger is interested in a move to the Premier League, according to the Sunday Mail.
Schweinsteiger has been at Bayern Munich since 2002, and had made over 150 appearances for the German champions. However, the 23-year-old has revealed that he would be tempted by a move England.
He told The Sunday Mail: "I may stay with Bayern and the coach has promised to be supportive of whatever decision I make.
"England does have a good appeal as it is one of the world's best leagues. I've always wanted to play there and we'll see if it happens this year."
The player is currently preparing for his nation’s Euro 2008 semi-final against Turkey, and has been one of the more prominent players of this German campaign.
After being ignominiously sent-off in the group stage defeat to Croatia, Schweinsteiger played a significant part in eliminating Portugal; he scored the opener in his side’s 3-2 quarter final win.
‘Schweini’ has just one year remaining on his current Bayern contract, and new manager Jurgen Klinsmann is reportedly keen on tying the player to a long term deal.
Schweinsteiger shone under Klinsmann, when the ex-striker was the coach of Die Nationalmannschaft, and took a starring role at the 2006 World Cup. The wide-man has thus far gained 54 caps for his nation.

I don't want him to pull another Michael Ballack and go to England. I hope Bayern can convince him to stay -- it truly will be sad to lose him. It really doesn't make alot of sense with Klinsmann coming in for german players like schweini or even poldi to think about leaving. Damn!!!

Well it does make sense actually, at least for Podolski. It's been two long years for him afterall, lots of promisses were probably made and broken already. The man simply wants to play and be the football star I'm sure he knows he can be...
Schweinsteiger however got a lot of playing time this past season didn't he? Despite many poor performances. So him leaving would be quite a bit 'traitorous'.
