Bayern needs a striker desperately imo.
Only Makaay isn't good enough.
Pizarro is a good 2nd option, Podolski is being crap so far and Santa Cruz has always been shit!

Reaction to Schalke v Bayern:
Felix Magath: "I'm still angry about the first half-hour. We failed to show up and went two goals down, just like we did in Bremen. What I really liked was that even at 2-0, we still believed in ourselves, went on to equalise, and made sure we came away with a deserved point. Pulling one back just before half-time was vital. That boosted our morale and devastated our opponents. We need to carry on where we left off in the second half and record a clear-cut victory over the bottom club."

In a glorious spell at Bayern, Michael Tarnat won the Bundesliga title four times, the DFB Cup three times, the World Club Cup and the Champions League, but the veteran defender and the club parted company three years ago. "Tanne" returns to Bavaria on Wednesday with Hanover 96 for what could be his final match in Munich. The affable player spoke to fcbayern.de about the past, the present and the future, which seems likely to bring him back to the club he still loves.
Interview: Michael Tarnat
fcbayern.de: First of all, belated good wishes on your 37th birthday back on 27 October. What does it feel like being the oldest outfield player in the Bundesliga?
Michael Tarnat: "Don't talk so loud! (laughs) I actually didn't know that, but my eight-year-old boy heard it on TV and told me. I don't think it matters, I think it's just great I can still compete at 37. I notice my age after matches though, I sometimes feel 40 at that point, although I feel like a 25-year-old before kick-off. At my age, you have to live, eat and sleep carefully. I need a lot more recovery time nowadays."
fcbayern.de: You were on the point of hanging up your boots due to injury two years ago, but now you've extended your stay in Hanover until 2007. What happened?
Tarnat: "I was suffering badly with a trapped nerve 18 months ago, and every movement was hurting. I said to myself: this makes no sense, and I'm not enjoying my football. But luckily, it ended up with the injury healing, and I'm not feeling any pain when I play. I knew I wanted to play on, but I had to ask my family. My wife is very homesick for Munich, but she said it was OK if I played one more season."
fcbayern.de: So this is your last campaign as a professional?
Tarnat: "My son wants me to keep going for another decade. He's thrilled when he watches his dad out on the pitch. But you have to draw a line at some point. My wife is pushing me to get us back to Munich, although I want to wait for a short time. I've already spoken to Uli Hoeneß, and he said we should sit down as soon as the moment arrives."
fcbayern.de: So you're coming back to Bayern - to what job?
Tarnat: "Still to be decided. I was overjoyed on hearing the manager had a job for me. I hope it's something in the scouting department, so I can help attract talented youngsters to Bayern Munich."
fcbayern.de: What's your fondest memory of your time at the club?
Tarnat: "I have Bayern to thank for everything. I got everything a club footballer can dream of in my time at Bayern. But the true highlight was my first Bundesliga championship medal. It's every footballer's dream, and it came true for me."
fcbayern.de: And what was the worst moment in Munich?
Tarnat: "When my contract wasn't extended. I thought about giving up the game, because I've given my heart to Bayern Munich. I was devastated when the manager said to me: Tanne, I'm really sorry, we don't want to extend your contract. But Bayern helped me find a new club after that. I didn't fancy moving within the Bundesliga, so they helped me find a club abroad." [Tarnat spent a season at Manchester City in the English Premier League - Ed.]
fcbayern.de: Are you conscious of the fact this could be your last appearance in Munich as a player?
Tarnat: "I'm not conscious of that. I'm sure the feelings of regret will come when I've finished playing and see the stadium on TV. I'll be saying to myself: you were there a year ago! But I'm not thinking about it right now, the opposite in fact - I'm really enjoying every match."
fcbayern.de: Maybe your last game will be the German Cup final - against Bayern.
Tarnat: "That would be an amazing way to end my career. Maybe my farewell will be putting one past Olli one last time. Perhaps he'll do me that favour."

Tarnat is a legend in Bayern. Didn't he play for ManCity at the end too?

Bayern Munich boss Felix Magath was quick to praise Hannover for their victory at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
The Reds went into the match bottom of the Bundesliga table, but stunned the German champions with a 1-0 win.
"That was further proof of our problems against defensively-minded teams this season," Magath told Bayern's official website.
"Hannover defended aggressively and effectively, and covered plenty of ground. We duly conceded the goal just before half time.
"My team bounced back in the second half. We gave it our best shot, we camped out in their half, but we created no clear-cut chances, so Hannover's win is a fair result."
Magath did, however, add that he expects his team to click into gear in the near future and close the six-point gap that Werder Bremen have now opened up over the Bavarian giants.
"We'll be stronger once our absent players start coming back over the next few days and weeks," he added.
"The team wasn't in great physical shape either. Roy Makaay and Claudio Pizarro for example, they both have a touch of the flu, and we only decided to risk playing them late in the afternoon."

Uli Hoeneß has just occasionally been known to react with displeasure after a poor Bayern performance, but it was with a broad smile across his face that the board director bade farewell to a crowd of waiting reporters in the Allianz Arena mixed zone a good half hour after the final whistle against Hanover 96. "A very good evening to you, gentlemen," the general manager beamed. Nevertheless, it did not require psychic powers to know Hoeneß was masking at least a hint of smouldering rage.
He had just watched Bayern lose 1-0 to the Bundesliga's bottom club. It was the Reds' first home defeat of term but their fourth in total after only 11 games, a meagre return last witnessed in 1974-5. Furthermore, Munich strode to the title on the back of just three defeats in the whole of last season, conferring almost historical dimensions on Wednesday's match , especially as the visitors won in the Bavarian capital for the first time in 18 attempts. And in all truth, they deserved to.
Magath identifies weakness
Whereas Hoeneß chose to keep his lips more or less sealed, Felix Magath faced the press at length a little later on, although he was at a loss to explain his side's dismal showing. "We're going through a difficult phase with very poor results in the league," the Bayern coach freely admitted, although he avoided describing the situation as a crisis. "But make no mistake, that was a bad defeat," he accepted.
Perhaps the most worrying aspect was a recurrence of a problem which has afflicted the team since August. "We're having trouble against well-organised opponents. We don't have enough creative firepower," Magath reasoned. His side looked entirely devoid of ideas in the first half, and the situation only improved marginally after the interval. "We applied pressure, but we failed to create any clear-cut chances. We got as far as the penalty area, but no further," the coach remarked.
Van Buyten's harsh words
That was not entirely the fault of flu victims Claudio Pizarro and Roy Makaay, both only cleared to play a few hours before kick-off. "You'll occasionally lose a match on an off day or because you have to field ill players. But basically, every player has to be prepared to give his best. That wasn't the case today," Daniel van Buyten fumed. "You won't win if you don't run."
Fellow centre-half Martin Demichelis carelessly lost possession on 43 minutes, allowing Jiri Stajner to feed Szablocs Hustzi for the only goal of the game. "Hanover looked fresher, we weren't dynamic enough," Magath lamented, with an outbreak of imprecise passing compounding the problem. "Our passes never arrived. They were either a yard short or a yard long," Mark van Bommel reflected.
Van Bommel hopes for winning streak
Magath chose to spare his players a tongue-lashing. "Obviously I'm disappointed with the result, but not with my team," he insisted, echoing captain Oliver Kahn's call for the squad "to pull even closer together and help each other." Bayern face a tough test against resurgent Leverkusen at the BayArena on Saturday, "and that's where we need to set off on a run," Van Bommel declared.
The risk is that the gap to leaders Werder Bremen could rapidly become a yawning chasm. "Six points is already a lot," the coach warned, "but we have only ourselves to blame for having to make up so much ground."
