Hitzfeld Pours Cold Water On Podolski Rumours
There are mixed messages emanating from the Bayern Munich camp as coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has reacted to rumours that Lukas Podolski is set to be loaned to Manchester City by insisting that he is fully reckoning to have the Germany star in his side for the second half of the season.
Reds manager Uli Hoeneß sent both the German and English rumour mills spinning by suggesting that the under-utilised star may be sent out on loan in order to solidify his spot in the national team ahead of the European Championship. The Bavarian super-club's coach was clearly on a different page, however.
"We only have four strikers and we all know how quickly accidents can happen," said HItzfeld after Monday's team training. "I am reckoning with having this same squad at my disposal once the season restarts.
Hitzfeld's assistant coach was even more dismissive when confronted with the rumours, insisting that a loan move for Podolski was "not a topic".
"We need Lukas. He is a very important player for us," was Michael Henke's reaction to the press.
The player himself was not available for comment as he was forced to sit out training due to a niggling back problem.
What is clear is that Podolski remains third-choice at Bayern with Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni ahead of him in the pecking order, and with Euro 2008 rapidly approaching, the youngster will want as much first-team action as possible.

^ Hitz shouldn't be arrogant and let Podolski go on loan. He doesn't even consider him.

What the fuck is up with Hitz? Let the dude go on loan, god damn it.
I was so happy to read first that a loan move is possible, and shortly after Hitz comes with the denial. Damn.
A loan move where he'll be a starter would be great. It would help him so much, and it's the only way he'd secure a place in Germany's starting XI for Euro. It would also help FC Bayern in another aspect, he could come back in superb form.
It's true that we may need him, but a loan move would be the best solution in this issue.
Oh well, Hitz wants to keep him, so he better play him!!

That's the typical hitzfeld all season.
Is it just me or can't he simply take the pressure anymore and is scared to take a risk ? I can see his point. IF klose or toni gets injured he will have problems without lucas, cause schlaudraff is no real striker more of a winger / om
And i doubt he really cares about the teams success next year. So of course he rather wants a poldi who he will play the usual shit 10 mins once in a while than missing this option.
I hope they loan him to man city. Damn i never thought i'd say that but i wish klinsi would take over right now. At least all players would get their chance instead of same old same old tactics, that even the most stupid coach in the bundesliga must have seen by now how to counter. 10 men total defense, put 2 men on ribery and you have your point in a 0-0....

Hitzfeld: Not My Problem If Podolski Misses Euro 2008
Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has thrown a spanner into the club vs. country row by insisting it's not his problem if Lukas Podolski misses Euro 2008
Bayern Munich have once again reiterated their determination not to let striker Lukas Podolski leave the club.
Reports had indicated the out-of-favour forward was keen to go on loan elsewhere to gain match practice before Euro 2008.
But boss Hitzfeld has made it clear: Podolski is his player, and if Joachim Löw decides he isn't playing enough to warrant a spot in Germany's squad for Austria and Switzerland, that's too bad.
"It's not my problem if Lukas misses the European championships," said the General, who leaves the Munich giants at the end of the season but needs a strong set-up to achieve his three aims of the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Uefa Cup.
"We only have four strikers and anything can happen," Hitzfeld continued. "I am positive that all of the current squad will be there when the second half of the season kicks off."

Is that what Hitz wants, to ruin Poldi's career?
Poldi is not going to miss Euro's, definately not mister Hitzfeld. He could loose his starting place to Mario Gomez, that's the worst thing that could happen, nothing else.
And it would be a shame really.
I don't know what's wrong with Hitzfeld really, the man has completely changed.

He does have a point. Imagine if Toni or Klose get injured, then what ? Do we bring back Sandro Wagner ???

Totally understandable, but don't let him warm the bench all season.
Start him in a few occasions, it wouldn't hurt.

Exactly. That's something he isn't considering lately. I mean, what the hell?

"I had a very good discussion with Lukas today on the subject and made it clear to him he cannot leave Bayern, because we need him for the future". "We are convinced of Lukas Podolski's quality and we are looking forward to seeing him in action again."

I agree that he should start in some matches and get more playing time.
But the point is, Hitzfeld is protecting the interests of FC Bayern. I was also pissed when I read he didn't let Podolski leave on loan to Man City, but all things considered, it's better for us because we couldn't sign a good 2nd option like Podolski in January.

No one knows why, but he seems to prefer Klose and Toni, only Klose and Toni.
Perhaps there's some pressure from agents, directors, contracts, I don't know. Fact is, Hitzfeld has Podolski is a 2nd option and it will stay that way until the end of the season.
Hopefully Podolski will be smart enough to understand that all this will change under Klinsmann. Methinks Poldi with get the left winger role, with Ribery on the right and the 2 bombers in the box

Lukas is being told that he's our future and all. But who knows if he really gives a shit? I mean. The guy wants to play now, not in the "future" where no one really knows when that will be.
Hitz should at least step out and say that he will a good handfull of chances.

I doubt that is going to happen.
I read Ribéry is undisputed starter in left wing, with Schweini, Hamit and Sosa battling for the right wing spot.
Starting Ribéry in right wing, and Poldi in left wing, it would mean three original wingers (Schweini, Hamit, Sosa) in bench.
Can't really see it happen, it will create big disharmony.
