Kahn unhappy with Hoeness’ coments
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn believes comments made by Uli Hoeness will make the club’s on-field task even more difficult this season.
Last week, general manager Hoeness complained Bayern players were not receiving enough protection from referees with more dangerous tackles being made following the club’s summer spending spree.
After spending 70 million euros (£47 million) on new players during the summer, Hoeness fears the opposition will turn to desperate measures to beat them.
His comments have prompted a lively debate in Germany, and Kahn believes they have been counter-productive.
“It has the effect that we had an even more aggressive crowd and an even more aggressive Hamburg team,” he said following Sunday’s 1-1 draw in Hamburg, the first time Bayern had failed to win this season.
“Every away game for us is like a battle for survival.”
Kahn does not share the opinion that Bayern have been the victims of over-zealous tackling, and admits that it is just part and parcel of the game.
He said: “Aggressiveness belongs to football. It is a contact sport and the players have got to defend themselves.
“We don’t need any protection, we can protect ourselves.”

nah ... first time i don't agree with the King , if you say that football is aggressive and its ok to do what Naldo did .... so we will not have any Player available ...
i respect Lows opinion about Ugly tackling in the BL .
what Oliver Kahn said here is that has no problem with that kind of aggression , so other team's defenders can send our best player to the bench every week ...

I think what Kahn means is that there is always a bit of agression in football. But that doesn't mean it's okay for people to tackle the way Naldo did to Klose.

Oliver Kahn will say goodbye to football in eleven months.
But, he has already planned details for his testimonial match, which will take place in August 2008.
It will be a match between FC Bayern and the Germany National Team.

Weird? No. It's really cool.
Schweini, Poldi, Klose, etc. will play for Bayern, of course.
Bayern played Germany in a friendly, 2 years ago.
In 31st of May 2005, Bayern beat Germany 4-2.
It was for the opening of Allianz Arena.

Kahn feiert 600.

Oliver Kahn has reached another milestone in his big career.
Today, he played his 600th competitive match for Bayern (in all competitions),
in the clash between his former club Karlsruhe and Bayern, which Bayern won 4-1.
More appearances for Bayern has only former Bayern goalkeeper Sepp Maier (621).
Well done Kahn!
Legend.

‘Welcome home’ | Back to the roots for visibly moved Kahn
When Oliver Kahn emerged from the tunnel for the pre-match warm-up at the Wildpark stadium in Karlsruhe on Sunday afternoon, the keeper appeared almost irritated by the crowd’s reaction. Instead of the customary jeers and boos which normally greet the Bayern captain on away grounds, warm applause broke out from every side of the stadium. “It was a very odd situation for me. It was really friendly today, at least towards me. That’s not normal when Bayern play away from home,“ the 38-year-old commented at the final whistle.
It was, of course, a very special match for Kahn. For the first time in nearly a decade, Bayern took on KSC at the Wildpark, the place where Kahn’s illustrious career began almost 20 years ago. “I had a fantastic time here. This is where I have my roots, and you never forget your roots,“ explained Kahn, confessing to a “moving moment” when he ran out onto the pitch.
Like father, like son
“Welcome home Oliver Kahn“ was just one of the many banners greeting the Karlsruhe-born player. The Munich skipper made 128 Bundesliga appearances for the south-western club, where his father Rolf also played as a midfielder in the mid-1960s. Oliver switched to Bayern in summer 1994, where he developed into one of the world’s all-time great goalkeepers and amassed a glittering collection of honours.
“I spent a long time at KSC, and I think the folk here haven’t forgotten,“ mused Kahn, making no secret of his delight at a final appearance in his home town during his last season as a pro. And despite Bayern’s 4-1 victory, Kahn’s latest successor in the KSC goal is unlikely to forget the afternoon in a hurry: Markus Miller swapped shirts with the Munich keeper after the match. “Oliver has given incredible service to German football, and achieved things others can only dream about,” Miller remarked.

Oliver Kahn Needs Operation
Bayern Munich have been hit with the news that keeper Oliver Kahn requires surgery on his injured elbow.
The former German international was injured during the warm up to Bayern’s league match against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. Michael Rensing stepped in and kept a clean sheet to keep the Bavarians top of the league.
Kahn will definitely miss Bayern’s Uefa Cup tie with Portuguese side Belenenses on Thursday, and looks likely to have to sit out the next four to five weeks following surgery.
Michael Rensing won widespread acclaim for his performance at the Bay-Arena and will look to show the trainer and fans that he is amore than able successor to the great Oli Kahn. He is however aware that the 38 year old remains the number one for this season
“When Olli is fit, he will start again. He has earned it, and deserved to finish his career with success. My time will come” he explained.

Ahh, god damn it!!
Rensing is a decent back-up, but I still don't feel secure with him on goal.
I'm used to see Kahn.
But, I guess, I'll have to get used to it.
Kahn will retire after the season end.
Get well soon Captain!

Kahn’s Op Successful
There is some good news for Bayern Munich ahead of their Uefa Cup clash with Belenenses. Veteran goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has had a successful operation on his injured elbow.
The 38 year old underwent surgery at the specialist Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA.
Bayern doctor Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt received the good news while at the team’s hotel in Portugal.
Kahn will remain in the United States over the weekend and begin his rehabilitation programme there. He will return to Munich at the start of next week.
Kahn has long complained of pains in his right elbow and was unable to take his place in goal for last Saturday’s match with Leverkusen.
It is estimated he will be out of action for around four to five weeks.
During his absence, understudy Michael Rensing will step into the breach, with Bernd Dreher the reserve.
When Kahn retires at the end of this season, Rensing is in line to take over the goalkeeping mantle.

This might be a blessing in disguise. Rensing will need the experience anyway.
