Default FF: Rules Thread (Updated)

The Rules are currently under construction to match the new format of the game. These rules are the ones from last season.

Fantasy Football Rules

League format

There are two leagues, The Italian League and The English League. There are no home or away teams and with 10 teams in a League, each season lasts for 9 matchdays. Points are as in real life with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and none for a loss. The team with most points wins the league but if points are equal it comes down to head to head scores and if still equal then goal difference, if still equal then a playoff game. Teams cannot have more than 22 players in a squad. League matches will be played on Mondays and Fridays and the winner will be determined by public vote of other FF players. If all goes well the game should last 3 seasons.

Voting

Voting is very important as without it no matches have a result so we need a decent number of votes (around 10-16 is ideal). So its very important that you vote in all matches in not just your league but the other league and cup games as well.

If you are within 2 votes of the other person its a draw (if there are less than 8 votes in the match then if the votes are within 1 vote it is a draw). So for example they get 7 votes and you get 5, thats a draw. A score draw is determined by the higher number of votes. So in the above example that would be a 2-2 draw.

Any manager who votes in less than 3 matches in a matchday willl not have their vote counted. Any manager who only votes for themselves in a matchday will recieve a 3m fine.

DO NOT vote for other managers just as they are your mate. DO NOT vote against managers because they are your rival and you want them to lose. You should be voting for who you think will win the match based on the players they have and the formation and tactics they use. Feel free to state your reasoning/opinion in the matchday thread if you like.

The scoring system is as follows*:

0-1 votes - 0 goals
2-3 votes - 1 goal
4-6 votes - 2 goals
7-10 votes - 3 goals
11-12 votes - 4 goals

*The scoring system comes into effect after the match has been confirmed as a loss, draw or win for the teams.

You can vote for yourself, but it will only count if the other manager does too. If you have an assistant they cannot vote in your matches, and if they do then the vote will not be counted. Any votes made by non-managers will not be counted.

Each match lasts 24 hours, except for Cup Semi-Finals and Finals and some European games.

If you are having problems with your computer or you cannot vote for some time whether it is a holiday or a busy time then please nominate a forum member (not another manager with a team), to vote for your team in matchdays and if possible help your team with arguements.

Transfers & Finances

You will have a budget at the start of season 1 of 50m. You can do deals with anyone else in the game, in many different shapes. You can buy for cash, part exchange, or swaps, its up to you. You can even do loans, but are limited to 2 in and 2 out per season with a minimum cash value of 1m and a maximum cash value of 10m. After Midseason you cannot do any more loans. You also cannot do deals with future revenue involved, so for example, 10m now and 5m at the end of season is not allowed. This is because it is very hard to keep track of for the mods. The transfer window will close after Matchday 6 and reopen after the season has finished. There will also be a Europool in which you can bid for players not playing in the three main leagues. Decimal cash values aren't allowed except for half a million. So 5.5 million would be allowed but 5.25 million would not, this is to make it easier to track finances

At the end of each season you will be given money based on where you finished the season, which will be as follows. Its based in reverse so the rich don't get richer and that the smaller teams have a chance ot improve and challenge the bigger teams. This system will hopefully mean the guys who finished at the top have to deal properly and cant just outbid everyone because they got loads of prize money, it should keep things more equal and interesting for everyone and not just those at the top.

8th - 35m
7th - 31m
6th - 27m
5th - 23m
4th - 19m
3rd - 15m
2nd - 11m
1st - 7m

Everyone will also have a transfer fund at the beginning of the next season of 15m and 15m half way through the first season.

People new to the game have deals monitored in "Surveillance" for their first week.

Europool

A very important factor in the game, it gives cash value, it helps curb inflation by removing cash from the game, and it adds new players into the game, its value cannot be understated.

Essentially what it is all the rest of the best players around the world not playing in England or Italy. As FF runs on a three season cycle there needs to be three pools one at the start of each season. So the available talent is split into 3 groups of roughly equal talent of about 20-30 players each.

You bid in the pool by sending a PM to the person running it specifying who you are bidding on - you will get three bids per position. And the highest bidder gets the player. Thats the essence of it, it will all be explained in great detail closer to the time.

Cup Format

The Cup is a knockout tournament in which all the league teams participate. The games are one leg and usually take place on Wednesday, with the winning team advancing to the next round. In the draw for the Last 16 it will always be every team playing a team from the other league (all games are England vs Italy).

In the cup, whoever has the highest number of votes goes through, unlike in the league where within 1 or 2 votes is a draw. If the votes are tied when the poll closes then the game will go into extra time where another thread is created and the votes from the managers that didn't vote in the previous poll will be counted.

Here is the cash winnings for each round:

Knocked out at last 16 - 0m
Advanced to Quarter Finals - 2m
Advanced to Semi Finals - 4m
Advanced to the Final - 8m
Winner of the Cup - 16m

These winnings will be paid immediatly after the result has been confirmed.
