David Moyes knows nothing of a reported move for Manuel Fernandes.

Friday's Daily Mirror claimed that Everton were keen to sign the midfielder on loan.

Fernandes joined Everton in January of last season on a temporary deal and enjoyed a successful six-month period on Merseyside, but then surprisingly joined Valencia in the summer.

But the Portuguese hasn't figured regularly for the Spanish outift and rumours of a departure have surfaced.

Moyes, however, was bemused by suggestions of a move for the player.

"I didn't even know that," he said of the rumours. "Have I? Not that I know of!"

The Blues boss added that while no transfer activity was imminent, he was looking at what players might available.

"Not at the moment," he confirmed. "We are actively having a look around, but I think like everybody else, if the right thing was available we would try to do something - but there is no news to give about anybody who looks as though they are on their way in."

Clears all that up then. Can't see Fernandes playing for Valencia come ferbruary but he's not going to be in an Everton shirt either.

Manuel Fernandes’ agent has revealed to setantasports.com that the Valencia midfielder is undergoing a medical with a view to completing a loan move to Everton.
The Portuguese winger spent a spell on loan at Goodison Park last season and irked Toffees officials by opting to move to the Mestalla after verbally agreeing to join the Merseyside club.

After David Moyes earlier dismissed a return for Fernandes the 21-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has told setantasports.com that his client is now preparing to return to the North West of England subject to the successful completion of negotiations.

"The agreement for the loan is complete but we wait for official confirmation from Valencia,” Mendes revealed.

Mendes told setantasports.com that he had met with Los Che sporting director Miguel Angel Ruiz to thrash out a deal which will see Fernandes join The Toffees until the end of the season.

Having paid a fee of around €18 million (£13.5m) for Fernandes only last summer, Valencia coach Ronald Koeman is believed to have sanctioned a move after failing to find a place in his plans for the player.

To be honest I'd be over the moon if we got him, but just can't see t coming.

Fernandes set to rejoin Everton

Manuel Fernandes will undergo a medical with Everton on Thursday with a view to rejoining the club on loan.

The 21-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park from Benfica, but left to join Spanish side Valencia in August.

Fernandes made 11 appearances for Everton last season and had been expected to make the move permanent.

The situation was complicated by the fact that Fernandes was part-owned by a third party, the Global Sports Agency.

That caused problems for the Premier League, which was clamping down on all third-party transfers in the wake of the Carlos Tevez affair, but his £12m move to Valencia appears to have cleared up the situation.

Fernandes, who also spent time on loan with Portsmouth, caused controversy when he turned Everton down last year, despite assuting manager David Moyes that he would join the Premier League side.

Everton can confirm that Manuel Fernandes will arrive on Merseyside tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss the prospect of re-joining the Club on loan until the end of the season.

The Valencia midfielder spent the second half of last season at Goodison and is poised to return to the Blues on loan until the end of the current campaign, subject to the 21-year-old passing a medical.

Fernandes signed for Valencia in the summer from Benfica, having spent last term on loan at first Portsmouth and then Everton. The Portugal international is returning to Merseyside to discuss a loan move after being limited to first-team outings at the Spanish outfit.

He made 11 appearances for Everton last term, netting two goals including a thunderbolt against Manchester United at Goodison

Brilliant news, this guy could make the difference in our Carling cup campaign and is going to be a massive part of the club in Pienaars absence. Can't wait to see Pienaar, Cahill, Arteta and Fernandes playing in the same midfield.

Everton have completed the loan signing of Manuel Fernandes from Spanish side Valencia.

The Portuguese international passed a medical at Everton's Finch Farm training complex on Friday and has completed the paperwork on his move to Goodison on loan until the end of the season.

But Everton did not receive international clearance for the player in time for him to be eligible to figure against Manchester City at Goodison on Saturday.

Fernandes returns to Goodison six months after departing the Blues following a successful loan period last term that saw the former Benfica midfielder net two goals from 11 appearances.

His first game for Everton this term could be the trip to Wigan Athletic's JJB Stadium on Sunday, January 20.

Fernandes' signing comes as the Blues have to contend with the loss of Steven Pienaar to the African Cup of Nations coupled with an injury to Leon Osman.

He will provide added competition in Everton's midfield in the second half of the season as David Moyes' battle on three fronts.
