Everton have been linked with a move for Elfsborg full-back Daniel Mobaeck.
The 27-year-old has earned rave reviews since being converted to a defender from a striker, by coach Magnus Haglund.
Mobaeck impressed many onlookers last week when he scored the winner in Elfsborg's 1-0 UEFA Champions League qualifier in Debrecen.
The player himself admits he would be tempted by a move to England.
English ambition
"Of course, I would be interested in playing in the Premier League," declared Mobaeck.
"If an offer comes, which is right for both the club and me, I am of course interested.
"It's obvious that it is noticed in Europe when you score in an important match."
Interest confirmed
The player's agent Martin Klette would not confirm that David Moyes's side were amongst those interested - with Strasbourg also said to be keeping close tabs on Mobaeck.
However, Klette did admit he did know of interest from two clubs.
"I can confirm that two European clubs have enquired about Daniel, but I can't say which," Klette told Expressen.

Never heard of him to be honest. And if were getting Baines, there is no need for him.

Reported in Daily Post and Daily Express
Quote:
Everton table £10m for Porto’s Gonzalez
Aug 4 2007 by Ian Doyle, Liverpool Daily Post
EVERTON have made a £10million offer for Porto midfielder Luis Gonzalez – as James Beattie last night agreed to join Sheffield United.
Gonzalez, 26, is skipper of the Portuguese side and was part of the Argentina side at last year’s World Cup and the recent Copa America.
Porto sources at last night’s Port of Rotterdam Tournament confirmed Everton’s interest in the player.
David Moyes is prepared to splash out a major chunk of his transfer funds to make Gonzalez his major signing of the summer after the earlier capture of Phil Jagielka.
Gonzalez, known as ‘Lucho’, can play as a central midfielder or as an attacking right winger.
He began his career with Huracan in his homeland before moving on to River Plate in 2002, where his performances earned a move to Portugal three years later.
Funds for the bid will be raised by the sale of Beattie, who has decided to leave in a £4million transfer to Sheffield United.
The striker will bring an end to a frustrating Goodison career after agreeing terms with the Coca-Cola Championship side.
Everton accepted a bid from the Bramall Lane side last Friday with Blades manager Bryan Robson having held talks with the player earlier this week.
Beattie was keen to remain in the Premier League, with former club Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City having previously shown an interest.
But the 29-year-old has been persuaded to drop down a division after accepting his future lies away from Goodison.
Beattie was Everton’s then record signing when arriving for £6million from Southampton in January 2005.
But the forward netted just 15 goals in 86 appearances, and hasn’t scored from open play since March 2006.
Goodison manager Moyes is stepping up his squad rebuilding and remains hopeful of bolstering his squad’s numbers with the capture of Leighton Baines.
But Newcastle United are threatening to scupper Everton’s transfer plans for the second time this week by making a move for the Wigan Athletic left-back.
The Magpies are understood to have revived their interest in the England under-21 international and could be poised to out-bid Everton for the player. Everton and Wigan have been thrashing out a deal worth around £5m for the 22-year-old over the past few days.
But Magpies manager Sam Allardyce, who has signed one-time Goodison target Alan Smith, is set to make an increased offer for Baines. Baines is still said to favour a move to Everton but is believed to have told his close associates he is willing to uproot from the North West should an opportunity arise.
Meanwhile, Steven Pienaar will have to wait until the opening day of the Premier League season for his first taste of action in an Everton shirt. The South African international, signed on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund, had been slated to appear in today’s friendly at Crystal Palace (kick-off 3pm). However, he has not yet received his visa and is therefore ineligible for the trip.
Although Everton anticipate no complications and the matter to be concluded early next week, it means Pienaar will not have been able to play alongside his new team-mates ahead of the Premier League opener at home to Wigan Athletic next Saturday.

Apparently his Agent has been on the radio saying a deal is immenent. Howecer I'll believe it when I see it. Another ridiculous bid for a player we're never going to get in my opinion.

I can't see Everton getting him. Do Everton have £10m to spend on one player? If they do why didn't they just sign Fernandes?

Won't happen. Plus he doesn't cost 10m pounds (15m euro). Valencia couldn't get him because Porto asked 25m for him.
If he's moving away from Porto, I believe Real will be his new home, because only them can afford what Porto are asking.

Everton have made £11m bid for Porto's Argentina midfield man Luis Gonzalez.
Boss David Moyes is attempting to push through a deal for the 26-year-old as Everton face competition from Juventus and Lyon for Gonzalez's signature.
BBC Sport understands Everton are now awaiting a response to the bid, which would beat the club record £8.6m paid to Crystal Palace for Andrew Johnson.
Everton are also poised to pay £5m for Wigan's Leighton Baines after Newcastle admitted defeat in the transfer battle.
Gonzalez - known as "Lucho" - is a key figure in Porto's line-up, and figured in Argentina's squad at the recent Copa America.
Whether Everton pull off the coup remains to be seen, as Moyes bids to end a summer of frustration in the transfer market.
Everton have signed Phil Jagielka from Sheffield United for £4m and signed South African midfield man Steven Pienaar on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund.
But 22-year-old Baines looks set to sign before the start of the season, with Moyes also hoping to close a deal for Gonzalez.

No No No... This is Everton, we don't really want Lucho.... the board just make a ridiculous bid for a player every summer, which won't be accepted, but impresses the gullible fans... I will even be confident that this bid is also in installments, to again push Porto to rejecting it. Anyway haven't Valencia had almost the same bid rejected last week?
Just shows why so many people want the chairman out. Suppose Lucho will join the list of other players we have 'attempted' to sign breaking our transfer record...

Sounds good
Valencia offered 18m €, not sure how much is that in pounds.
He is rumoured to be heading to Madrid, so even if you had made a decent bid, he wouldn't move to Everton

Exactly. Think that's about £13million.
Ridiculous thing is, while we waste our time and effort trying to get players like Lucho to the club. We are missing out on realistic targets who would strengthen our team, like Baines. If we had that amount to spend on one player, we would had spent it on Fernandes. But instead we make bids of 11million for Lucho, while having the smallest team in the league.
Strange timing of this bid considering the ballot papers for the new stadium are being sent out on Monday......... coincidence? I think not

That is a great marketing move I think. Shame you missed out on Fernandes, I'll have to see him play well for Benfica...
What positions do you need to improve ?

Well I would say as a minimum we need to bring in first XI left back (Baines), Centre mid and Striker. But we would still also need to bring in a winger and centre back for cover due to the up coming African Nations cup. Surprisingly I think at stage we have made a £1million profit on transfers this summer, selling two players and buying one... When clubs not even in Europe are spending upwards of 15million and teams we are in direct competition with are spending in excess of £35million (Spurs). You have to think where has the money gone?

I don't think Everton will be able to battle out the competitions of Lucho's signature.
