Posh Keeper gets call up
Brilliant news! i remember when he got on the bench for us... that was his 1st ever competitive appearance!
Quote:
England coach Fabio Capello has brought Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis into his squad after Chris Kirkland returned to Wigan due to a back injury.
The Football Association said Kirkland looks set to miss Wednesday's friendly against the United States after having muscle spasms in his back.
Lewis and Peterborough won promotion to League One this season.
The 20-year-old became Peterborough's record signing in January when he signed for £400,000 from Norwich.
"This is fantastic news for Joe and Peterborough United," Peterborough director of football Barry Fry told the club's official website.
"It will be a fantastic experience for him."
If Lewis makes his debut, he will be the first player from outside the top two divisions to play for England since Johnny Byrne, who received a cap in 1962 while playing for Third Division Crystal Palace.

Wow, that's a real shock...
Capello's skipped past (most notably) Carson & Robinson and went straight down to a player playing in League Two.
How good is this Lewis?

Well i only ever saw him once in goal for us and that was a pre season friendly vs. Inter Milan and they had Obafemi Martins and Adriano playing then! he did let in 1 goal (we lost 2-0)
he has a great future ahead of him he was destined for big things when he was in our youth ...his loan to Morecambe got him attention and out of the blue Peterbro sign him for alot of money of us
hes been in England youth ranks and only the 1 game at under 21 level ...good luck to him he will be in the premiership soon

Amazing really... dont understand it for a second.
If I was to pick a keeper from the lower leagues it would be Myhill of Hull. However I suppose you could count him as Premiership player as of Saturday!

Very strange, Carson, Robinson, Green, that Salford United keeper who's name i can never remember, would all have seemed like better options to me.
Nice for the kid though, hoped he enjoys his experience.
