Stupid not too, since the last time I checked England is not Brazil.

TBH, as an English supporter I didn't really hold this friendly in such high esteem. I wouldn't have been bothered if we drew, won 1-0 or won 9-0! The fact of the matter is that it was an irreleavent game, so I didn't really expect to see 'total football'.

All I wanted to see was change. Anything that is different is a bonus IMO.

The game wasn't brilliant, but it was refreshing to see an alternative style of play. However, like I say, I am not really to sturred because it is only One game.

Also, like Jager says, the fact that the media get involved is silly to do so soon. I would rather Capello goes about his job professionaly, which he seems to do, and the Media leave him alone to get on with it.

I was impressed to see England respond to conceding a goal immediately. The lack of 'hoofing it forward' was a sight for saw Eyes and the patient build up at times was better football and more effiecient. Again, Like I Say, I don't want to get carried away, but I feelthat there were many positives to be taken from a potentially 'New England' (Potentially being the operative word!)

The most sickening thing though is that a weak, nervous and unfamiliar England side comfortably beat a team that is in Euro 2008, while we have to watch it from the sidelines.

Ah, I never said anything about holding this game in high esteem. Capello is lookig at all players, and seeing who is important and who isn't.
Who is a leader...
who listens...
who doesn't....
who he can depend on...
who he can't

I gaurantee you that Capello's final lineup in qaulification will not be exactly what you and other English fans expect.
It will be the best team for him, but not the best team in terms of players.
Capello likes tough teams, that are hard in midfield and strong on set pieces.

I know this man, this game was truely a feel out game. But this I do know, its only a matter of time when an English player starts bitchin, and when that happens, we know that Capello's team is coming.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't say that you held this game in high esteem, I quoted your post to agree with the media on Capellos back after only 1 game.

All you comments here I totally agree with (no arguement from me mate!)

The craziest thing for me was that some fans on some call in radio show actually complained that England passed the ball backwards at times!

That was one of the positives from the game! Not every attack had to end with a hopeless ball into the box. If you pass your way down the wing etc and see there isn't really a chance of creating something, turn around, keep the ball and wait for the next chance!

I know traditionally English fans have always seen football as simple entertainment after a hard week at work. However a lot of England needs to learn that you can't play like that and expect to be competitive. When Liverpool dominated Europe and England a lot of their games were "boring" because passing the ball a lot and keeping posession has always seemed boring even though any serious footballer knows that that is the key to winning anything in football and it looks very good on the eye.

Anyway, was a good start but most England managers have a good start, still a lot more improvement left

There you go, that is one facet that I'm sure Capello will put into the English players mind. Patience, wait for chances, then pounce like a cat.

To the fools that phone and bitch about this, bite your tongue now.

Capello will make this team hard as nails, and a real pain to play.

some negatives from the game, wes brown being absolute rubbish, upson not really partnering ferdinand that well, barry not adapting to the holding role, etc, but there were some strong positives too..

thought the fact that we had some slow patient possession play was a major positive...

the tactics were "interesting"...

i actually thought that lampard would have fitted that system very well... thought joe cole might have been better being in the centre instead of jenas last night too, despite his goal...

with someone like ashley young wide left, aaron lennon wide right... then that would have given us pace, width and creativity all across the middle... replace barry with hargreaves, and we would be a lot more solid too...

but capello has won more than me in the game, so il wait and see his affect on the team over a longer period of time and i do truly trust this man to either prove or dispell, is whether the english players are good enough or not...

if we cant progress under the likes of a world class manager like capello, then the question will be answered once and for all...
