Next England Manager....?
Well Mclaren has to go, if he dont its a shocking decision.
But top candidates will be?
Mourinho of course will be favorite now, but i just cant see him taking a national job.
Martin O Neil - I said he should have got the England job two years ago, he has done well at Villa.
The rest are possibly foreign managers.

You would be very lucky to have JM. But I don't think international football appeals to him. He will find a club side soon enough, and he'll make more money too.

Theres a classic myth straight away. Martin O'neill has done no better than David O'Leary did in his first couple of seasons at Villa, just cos he happens to have stumbled upon Agbonlahor, and Young has done ok this season doesnt mean he's some coaching genius. Villa are still a very average side, just as they were when he took over. And he has had money to spend- Petrov, Young, Reo Coker, Harewood(!).....
i dont know who will want the job at the moment. But i dont think there is an English manager who is good enough.

Who would want the job now?
We've got nothing except money and reputation for any prospective managers.

If you look at the premiership, none of the top 4 will want the job.
Theres only Mark Hughes who wont take it after Wales.
Harry Redknapp is one person who has done well along with Martin O Neil, i think they are the only two realistic British based candidates. Theres also Sven of course

They won't a get foreign coach as that would be like admitting they were wrong in getting rid of Sven. Remember, this was the same public that blamed Sven for everything, and demanded an English coach.
Well, there you go.

To be fair hes only had one season and has got Villa playing some good football. The only other candidates in the British game havent won any trophies (yes winning with Celtic isnt tough) but there is no other names in the premiership who can be real candidates.

True but fans expect a winner and now that england blew their chances, It will be hard to lure a coach with all that's happening....I feel sorry for them!

Errr.... not really.... not every foreigner is Sven Goran-Eriksson.
The public didn't demand an English coach at all, don't know where you're getting that from
Scolari was the first choice, then Hiddink for the FA, then McClaren. (Notice the first 2 aren't English and notice how much we complained when we ended up with McClaren)
Most fans would have preferred O'Neill ahead of McClaren as well and he's not English either.
Hiring a foreign manager would not mean the FA was wrong to get rid of Sven, THAT DECISION WAS CORRECT.
Hiring a new manager, be it foreign or English, only proves that hiring McClaren was the wrong decision, which everyone except the FA knew from the start...

The only men that have the ego to want that media attention and agro are Mourinho and Capello.
JM is still young and his next stop is Italy or Barca I feel. In 10 years he'll do international management.
Capello is out itching to get back into management and has stated in the past he would like to manager England. So who knows?
Oh and can we now get over the myth that Sven as shite when Mcllaren couldn't scrape by in such an easy group, where as Sven always qualified.

Jager so many times you acknowledge your ignorance of England and your ill position from which to judge; other times you don't.
Yes many English people did want an English coach and weren't happy having a foreign coach but even most of them will acknowledge that although they'd did to have an English coach none are good enough.
Hardly anyone in England wanted McClaren. Loads of England fans wanted us to loose tonight because they wanted rid of McClaren.
A foreign coach isn't some off the shelf commodity; just cos Sven was sacked doesn't mean that England shouldn't consider another foreign coach.

I was unaware of Hiddink and Scolari mate, there is no need to slam. I do admit some ignorance on some things. However I saw some great things in the past, and I felt things were not as bad, or that the glass was half full.
Now I feel its half empty, does that make any sense.
Let me say this, I do remember reading comments in this very forum, and watching programs blaming Sven for everything, and that it was imperative that they get an English coach. However that might of been before Scolari and Hiddink rumours or speculation.
You guys DO know that Marcello Lippi is free and not coaching.
