I sure hope they do. Croatia has been having to much luck and to me it seems Fifa has been licking their asses. England have a great chance at it. Russia and Israel aren't much of a challenge trust me.

We're not actually as bad off as I thought

Only 3 points behind the leaders with a game in hand against Israel...

I think although the team hasn't performing well the team will scrape through.

Granted we have tough upcoming fixtures but 4 of them are at Wembley, we MUST beat Israel, and I think we will, if we don't though then I think we're out.

But if we win I think we're through, because I expect us to beat Russia at Wembley and get a draw away at least. Estonia should be a no-brainer and that only leaves Croatia which is a tough game.

The other teams' fixtures are relevant as well though.

Israel:

8 September 2007 England v Israel
13 October 2007 Croatia v Israel
17 November 2007 Israel v Russia
21 November 2007 Israel v FYR Macedonia

Croatia:

8 September 2007 Croatia vs. Estonia
12 September 2007 Andorra vs. Croatia
17 October 2007 Croatia vs. Israel
17 November 2007 FYR Macedonia vs. Croatia
21 November 2007 England vs. Croatia

Russia:

8 September 2007 Russia vs. FYR Macedonia
12 September 2007 England vs. Russia
17 October 2007 Russia vs. England
17 November 2007 Israel vs. Russia
21 November 2007 Israel vs. FYR Macedonia

Looking at those I think we can pretty much say Croatia have won the group, the only game they could possibly lose is against England, and I'd expect that to be a draw unless by that stage Croatia have already qualified in first and England need to win to qualify.

I think Israel will lose to England and Croatia (in Zagreb...) and at best they'll get a draw with Russia imo so I don't think they'll make it through.

Russia... I think we'll beat them at Wembley, and draw away. If Israel can grab a draw against them, then England should be set, because I think that would mean even with a draw against Croatia we'll qualify.

i wouldn't say it's a long-shot, the team certainly has to start performing better, but in reality we're only 1 pt off qualifying and we still are yet to even play that team (Russia). Of course this is assuming we turn things around and beat Israel and Russia in our next 2 fixtures, if we do I think we'll qualify.

If not we need a lot of luck.

The poll is wrong, there are no play-offs, the top two go through automatically.

The biggest game is Russia away. That will be extremely difficult and Russian teams (club or country) are always good at home against foreign teams. If we get a point out of that it will be a great result and we should qualify if we do.

Croatia will win the group whatever happens, they should win their next four games. I think we will get second - we have the advantage of four games out of five at home, three of which we should win, which will hopefully be enough.

Cheers Max. I've edited it to include the yes, but via play-offs vote in the 'yes' option.

I'd be extremely surprised if we didnt qualify. Russia as has been said will be the tough game but 4 home games should be enough to give us all the points we need without having to get anything from the Russia away game...

Not so sure Croatia will win the group and I think Israel could sneak in there... Croatia are bound to slip up at some point I think.

it's been years since they've lost at home and they're not exactly playing the toughest of opposition in Estonia, Macedonia & Andorra in particular

Get real you wont qualify the problem with the english national team is that you dont live in the real world you show no respect to the other teams you play. Last year England were going to win the world cup we hear that every time you qualify untill you play the best teams who always beat you. Gus Hiddink is an excellent coach and he will out think mcclaren tonight at wembley you aint in my top 10 in the world russia to win 2 - 1 tonight.

And which country do u support?

You're talking out of ur arse as well btw, England don't underestimate, they overestimate most opponents and don't play attacking enough football against teams which put 10 men behind the ball.

btw if we beat Russia you realise we'll be in a great position to qualify?

Come back after the game.

It's between Russia and England for second spot and this game may well decide that matter.

Yes potentially, which is y this is such a massively important game.

Although we still have to play Russia away as well.

Both teams also have potential stumbling blocks left in the form of Croatia (although that's at home) for England and Israel (away, it's a tough place to visit) for Russia.

If you guys let Isreal get the second spot, that will be hysterical. Beating out Russia and England.

Having said that, I think Russia has to be the odds on favourite to get the spot.

England is not playing well now, and in transition. Having said that, they have the weopons to make it without a doubt.

Israel are in 4th now I believe, having played 1 game more than both England and Russia, they've pretty much lost their chance now.
