Default What Do you think the england team should be

My view to solve the left sided problem is:

James
Campbell Woodgate Ferdinand

Dyer Cole

Beckham Scholes Lampard/Gerrard

Owen Rooney

Rooney???
In the future - yes!
But not now - We have Heskey, Beatie and Vassel!!! Use them first and wait untill Rooney is ready.

the formation above was with wing backs (Dyer and Cole). I agree i should have put Beattie ir Vassell, but Heskey should never be allowed to even watch an england match he is so bad.

i think rooney is too young and if England didnt have a problem with forwards, he wouldnt be anywhere near the NT yet.

in saying that, Owen really does need a partner. Heskey can be great, but obviously something aint clicking upstairs for him.

Beattie is englands best go i believe. but even he doesnt seem to be as good as other big national teams strikers.

how about this team:

-------------????

woodgate----sol---rio---cole

-----gerrard--hargreaves

---becks----scholes----J.Cole

-------------Owen

something like that? it gives owen plenty of service through three creative players and hargreaves and gerrard are solid and hard-working in the DM area. Defence looks solid as well.

The only concern is height as its all mostly in defence. but then again, depending on how you play, you could base your tactics on owens speed upfront. remember, Brazil won the 94 world cup with forwards who were an avergae of 5'7" i think.

If Rooney isn't ready now, he never will be.....at one time I thought he was a bit overated, but not now, he's way better than Heskey or Vassel! However, glad you mention Beatie.....good call!

Hey! George remembers Thomo too! O'Neil thinks its time for Sven to take a look at both Thomo & Sutton! O'neil has a point, but only one. Thompson didn't set the world alight, because he could'nt rediscover his Bolton form. But believe me the guy is class......he is a workaholic and a suberb presence, equally good in defence/attack, personally I think he deserves a chance and Tord Grip has intimated as much. As for Sutton though, he can't handle the "sooper trooper" + Glostersaint is spot on - Hartson would have more chance even in welsh rubber boots.....he would do what he did before, hes simply a shrinking violet on the National Stage. But Thompson is a fighter WYSIWYG

James

Johnson Ferdinand/Terry Campbell Cole (makes up the left wing)

Beckham Gerrard Hargreaves Scholes

Owen Rooney

I would have Glen Johnson at right back as he is very talented and can get forward. Also has pace which Neville lacks.

Hargreaves as defensive mid so Gerrard can get forward because he is quality going forward for Liverpool when Diao is def mid. Also lets Scholes go forward. Ashley Cole can come down and make a left mid with Hargreaves dropping back.

If i had to have a left mid i would have Thompson as he has been quality for Celtic in the champions league.

i think Lampard is the 1st player to be picked at the moment he is playing some excellant football Rooney and Beatie up front with Scholes playing just behind leaves Beckham and Gerrard to fill the midfield , Neville ferdinand, Campbell , and Cole in defence with James in goal.
