Heskey faces six weeks out

Emile Heskey has been ruled out England's Euro 2008 qualifiers with Estonia and Russia next month through injury.


The Wigan striker suffered a broken metatarsal during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Fulham at The JJB.

Heskey limped off after just nine minutes of the game after appearing to catch his foot in the turf.

Scans have confirmed Wigan's worst fears that Heskey has broken his foot and he now faces up to six weeks on the sidelines.

The news is a major blow for Heskey after he impressed on his return to the England side in last week's wins over Israel and Russia.

Heskey's injury also leaves England boss Steve McClaren and Wigan chief Chris Hutchings with major selection problems for the next six weeks.

so if you guys were wondering whether the team would stay the same... the answer now is no. I assume Rooney if he is fit will play along side Owen....tbh I don't want to see Crouch play for you guys.

It's kind of convenient you know. Given that almost everyone at first didn't want Heskey to come back to the national team, and then seeing as he's playing really well again it would be difficult to drop him when Rooney comes back.

Well, this saves the hard task of dropping Heskey, who has been playing superb football lately.
