Starts on 15th May in Walsall, Russia seemingly the biggest danger, and winners of last season's European u17 Championships. With Giles Barnes and Scott Sinclair out, and Micah Richards, Lee Cathermole and Theo Walcott not considered anyway, we're without five "stars" - that's half a team.

Jamie Annerson - Sheffield United - Goalkeeper
DOB: 21.06.88
Caps: 2
Jamie has been recognised for his fine form in Sheffield United's academy and reserve side and is determined to provide competition for the number one jersey for club and country. Playing the entire match against Poland in February, Jamie showed his ability between the sticks with a series of strong saves.

Ryan Bertrand - AFC Bournemouth on loan - Defender
DOB: 05.08.89
Caps: 5
One of the younger players in the squad, Ryan is a talented defender who has been an everpresent this season under Brian Eastick putting in some determined displays. Currently on loan at Bournemouth, Ryan has two England international left-backs to look up to at Chelsea in the form of Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge..

David Button - Tottenham Hotspur - Goalkeeper
DOB - 27/2/89
Caps: 3
A confident stopper, David established himself in Austria where he played the entire 90 minutes against both Spain and Italy, both games ending 1-1. In England's last match of 2006 against Switzerland David played the first 45 minutes.

Mark Davies - Wolverhampton Wanderers - Midfielder
DOB: 18.02.88
Caps: 1
A tough tackling midfielder with an eye for a goal, Mark has grown in stature since making his debut over a year ago in the League Cup. With more than 20 appearances for Wolves Mark showed his quality against Poland with three assists and a hand in all four goals.

Hogan Ephraim - Colchester United on loan - Forward
DOB: 31/3/88
Caps: 5 - Goals: 2
With fine approach play and a box of tricks, Hogan has the uncanny ability of being in the right place at the right time in the penalty box, and got his first goal late on against Italy. Hogan added to his tally with England's second goal against Switzerland.

Adam Hammill - Liverpool - Midfielder
DOB: 25/1/88
Caps: 6 - Goals: 2
Adam will be looking to make a continued impact on the international scene this season having been involved in all four matches so far this term. An FA Youth Cup winner with Liverpool last season, Adam has been an everpresent this season under Brian Eastick and scored a fine goal against Switzerland in November.

Danny Haynes - Ipswich Town - Forward
DOB: 19/1/88
Caps: 1
Danny has a wealth of experience already with over 30 senior appearances, both with Ipswich and on loan at Millwall, including an FA Cup appearance last season against Portsmouth. Danny appeared in The FA Cup again this season as Ipswich overcame Chester City in the Third Round.

Sam Hewson - Manchester United - Midfielder
DOB: 28.11.88
Caps: 3
A strong midfielder with bundles of energy, Sam also a keen eye for a pass. This was best demonstrated against Austria when he superbly set up Craig Lindfield for his second goal. This season Sam has also grabbed four goals in Manchester United's run to The FA Youth Cup Semi-Finals.

Seb Hines - Middlesbrough - Defender
DOB: 29.05.88
Caps: 4
A tenacious defender with a composed and assured presence in defence, Seb has grown in confidence in recent seasons and will look to make the step up to first team action this season. Seb grabbed his first goal on his debut for Middlesbrough, and took the armband at half time as England U19s defeated Poland in February.

Rossi Jarvis - Norwich City - Defender
DOB: 11.03.88
Caps: 4
A versatile and composed defender, Rossi has got to grips with senior action at Norwich this season. He was an important figure in England's strong performance against Spain in Austria and will be looking to cement his place for the Elite Qualifying Round in this final preparation game.

Michael Johnson - Manchester City - Midfielder
DOB: 24.02.88
Caps: 4
A committed midfielder, Michael recently made his senior debut for City away to Wigan and also made his mark for England in Austria, appearing in all three games. Michael also played the full 90 minutes against Poland in February.

Oliver Lancashire - Southampton - Defender
DOB: 13.12.88
Caps: 1
An eager and determined defender, Oliver made his first appearance under Brian Eastick against Poland at Bournemouth in February. Coming on as a substitute for Mark Little, Oliver performed strongly in the second half as England swept to a 4-1 win.

Mark Little - Wolverhampton Wanderers - Defender
DOB - 20/8/88
Caps: 5
An attacking right-back who offers much in the final third of the pitch, Mark has made the step up into the first team at Wolves with more than 20 appearances this season including an FA Cup debut against Oldham in the Third Round. Mark has also been involved in each of England's squads this season, earning five caps.

Michael Mancienne - QPR on loan - Defender
DOB: 8/1/88
Caps: 5
A composed and confident central defender, Michael is a vocal player at the back, and has been an ever-present for Brian Eastick's side this season. Things have gone well for Michael at QPR with more than 15 appearances this season during his loan spell at Loftus Road.

Fabrice Muamba - Birmingham City on loan – Midfielder
DOB: 6/4/88
Caps: 5
A destructive midfielder with tough tackling and expert timing, Fabrice has a wealth of experience with England at U16 and U17 level and has now added three caps at U19 level to his name. A growing presence in the Birmingham midfield, Fabrice played his part in the Blues incredible 5-1 win at St. James' Park in The FA Cup Third Round.

Elliot Omozusi - Fulham - Defender
DOB: 15/12/88
Caps: 5
An attacking full-back with a great deal of pace and power, Elliot recently made his debut for Fulham in The FA Cup away to Leicester. On the international scene Elliot has earned five caps including a confident performance against Holland at the Bescot Stadium.

James Vaughan - Everton - Forward
DOB: 14.07.88
Caps: 2 - Goals: 3
A talented poacher of goals with bags of pace and tricks, James has suffered a number of unfortunate long term injuries but is back on form and looking to make his mark on 2007. James was England's saviour in their final game of last year, coming off the bench to grab the winner with just minutes to go, and followed that up with a second half brace against Poland.

Paul Anderson - Liverpool - Midfielder
DOB: 23/7/88
Caps: 4 - Goals: 1
The former Hull trainee has come on leaps and bounds since joining Rafa’s Reds in January and played a huge part in Liverpool’s Youth Cup triumph in May. Paul has played his part in three U19s games thus far, most notably helping England to 3-3 draw with Austria. Paul is an out-and-out winger with pace and power and will be a constant threat to opposing defences.

Luke Daniels - West Bromwich Albion - Goalkeeper
DOB: 5/1/88
Caps: 2
Luke was called into the U18s in April for the first time and made his debut against Slovenia at Bournemouth. Luke produced a dominant first half performance and kept a clean sheet in the game, before being replaced by Zac Jones. Luke made his debut for the U19s at the Bescott Stadium against Holland, and won his second cap in the UEFA Preparatory Tournament in Austria.

Scott Golbourne - Wycombe Wanderers on loan - Defender
DOB: 29/2/88
Caps: 1
A left-sided full-back with pace and tenacious tackling ability, Scott will be eager to build on his consistent displays at U17s level where he was an ever present under John Peacock. He made his big break with Bristol City but his promise was noticed by Reading who signed him in the New Year before their incredible march to Championship success.

Andrew Gooding - Coventry - Midfielder
DOB: 30/04/88
Caps: 1
Andrew was part of the U17 squad that contested the UEFA European U17 Championship in Italy last year and will now be looking to make the step up and get the chance to play for the European U19 Championship in May in Austria.

Ray Jones - QPR - Forward
DOB: 10.05.88
Caps: 1
Ray earned his only cap so far against Holland at the Bescot Stadium, coming on for Giles Barnes in the second half. Ray is strong and confident forward with a lot of confidence, cemented by more than 25 appearances for QPR this season and half a dozen goals.

Darryl Knights - Yeovil Town on loan - Forward
DOB: 01.05.88
Darryl has shown steady progress at club level and made his mark on the international scene when he was part of the U17s squad that made it to the European Championship Finals in Italy two years ago.

Adam Lallana - Southampton - Forward
DOB: 10.05.88 - Caps: 1
A creative forward with an equal eye for a pass and a goal, Adam has had a strong involvement in the England youth setup and made a goalscoring debut for the U18s against Slovenia this year.

Nicky Law - Sheffield United - Midfielder
DOB: 29.03.88
A promising defender for the newcomers to the Premier League, Nicky was last involved for England in the U17s squad two years ago for the Nordic Tournament. Taking the call up well, Nicky scored on his debut against the Faroe Islands in 2004.

Ben Turner - Oldham Athletic on loan - Defender
DOB: 21.01.88
A Coventry City player permanently, Ben has learned a great deal from his experiences at Peterborough and Oldham on loan and is now looking to progress to international level.

Myles Weston - Charlton Athletic - Forward
DOB: 12.03.88
A goalscorer on numerous occasions for both the U16s and U17s, Myles will be looking to make the step up this year to U19 level. Myles also played the entire 90 minutes in 2005 when Brian Eastick took his U18s to Mersin to face Turkey.

Frank Fielding - Blackburn Rovers - Goalkeeper
DOB: 18.01.88
A talented goalkeeper with a solid education from the Ewood Park club, Frank will be looking to grab his chance to shine for the England U19s tonight.

Chris Martin - Norwich City - Forward
DOB: 04.11.88
Chris has had a dramatic start to 2007, grabbing the winner in The FA Cup Fourth Round replay at Carrow Road as Norwich overcame Blackpool. He will be eager to build on that fine club form for his country.

Brian Eastick is confident that his players can pick themselves up for the next test on Thursday evening, following the disappointing defeat to Russia in their opening qualifier.

With Holland next up for the U19s at the Ricoh Arena it doesn't get any easier, but Eastick is confident that the Young Lions will come out fighting in their bid to qualify for the European U19 Championship.

Despite losing 2-0 thanks to strikes from Pavel Mamaev and Artem Dzyuba, Eastick was pleased with the majority of the football player - but feels that the importance of taking opportunities must be felt by the players.

"I thought we actually played some very good football, but when you get to international football you're not going to create lots of chances every time. Tonight I thought we made four or five very good chances and we didn't take them.

"We can go away and say we were unlucky, but it wasn't really bad luck; it was bad play. You have to convert a reasonable percentage of those chances - particularly at international level.

"Of course we made some very poor errors at the back, but we live to fight another day. Had this been a knock out competition we would have been out, and it's quite clear what we have to do now, we have to beat Holland.

"All credit to the players, they worked very hard and the Russians made it difficult for us at times. As I said though, I was pleased with the football, the quality was superb at times. But you must take your chances."
