But I still haven't seen anyone at schoolboy level who has impressed me as much as Owen did when he was the young.
Lot's of "good" "solid" players but nobody who really stands out.

I don't know, Moses and Welbeck stand out on the ball, this was best youth English side I've ever seen play, Spain were just better on the night, Bojan and Meirda did a number on us, Bojan was player of torni by everyone.

Well Owen was a rare exception at the time, although not without his deficiences. There's some real talent in this England team with Welbeck, Murphy, Rose, and (of late) Lansbury, and six defenders.

Six defenders...
That's all the national team can do...defend.
Owen was unfortunately an exception. Wish we had more exceptions like him. I remember a few years back when it seemed we had too many good strikers. Shearer, Sheringham, Wright, Owen, Fowler all bagging 20 goals a season.
We have a very good defense and a pretty good midfield, we don't need the youth teams coughing up 6 defenders a year, we need goalscorers, someone the very good midfield players (including Rooney, he isn't a goalscorer) can set up goals for.

England drawn with Brazil
Thursday, 17 May 2007.
England will take on Brazil when they compete in the FIFA U17 World Cup for the first time this summer.
The England team, who were losing finalists in the UEFA European U17 Championship last week, will take part in the 24-team tournament in South Korea in August.
At the draw for the Finals, made in Seoul today, England were paired with Brazil, North Korea and New Zealand in the group stages.
The tournament begins on 18 August with the Final taking place in Seoul on 9 September.
The opening match for John Peacock's U17 side will be against North Korea in Seogwipo on 18 August before playing New Zealand in the same venue on 21 August. The group matches will conclude with the clash against Brazil in Goyang on 24 August.

Well people complain we don't have the numbers all over the pitch. I can see Murphy and Sturridge making an unusually good strike pairing.
