in that system, might as well play lampard...

hes better than scholes...

personally, i dont think we would do very well with that system, mainly because we would lack width....

cole and richards are attacking full backs, but they need cover from the wingers to really benefit the team....

wont get that if we play narrow and in my opinion, if teams stick 9 behind the ball, playing so narrow will only cause congestion....

what we neded is,

Code:
foster robinson richards terry king cole neville fedinand woodgate bridge j cole gerrard parker barry lennon carrick lampard downing rooney owen ashton bent

England could put Joe Cole and Lennon on opposite sides, it'd be a lot better than having Downing or Barry. It might also be wise to put Crouch in if McClaren is intent on crossing balls in.

i never like to see right footers on the left...

i think joe cole is a sublime player, but for me, when hes on the left, for all the great work he does, the play gets slowed down when he has to cut onto his right foot and any momentum of an attack is lost....

i think if barry was on the left wing, then he would allow ashley cole to get forward more and they would form a superb partnership down that left side... when jlloyd was on form a few seasons ago, him and barry were breathtaking down our left side because barry covers the defensive duties as well as being decent in a creative sense... and ashley cole is a much better player than jlloyd...

its a shame barry lacks pace though...

as for crouch, tbh, i would rather we had ashton on the end of crosses.. he can control his headers and his positioning, is second to none.. a vastly under rated player....

i dont think him and rooney could play together though, as ashton isnt the quickest, and he also likes to drop deep, so its either rooney or ashton with a pacy partner up front for me... compliment each others game and give different problems for the opposition defences to deal with...

these are the sorts of little partnerships that i am talking about when i have mentioned in not fitting the team around the best players, but fitting the players around the best team...

Real wingers can play either side. Guys like Robben and Ronaldo play either side and don't have problems.

I think Joe Cole would be more effective with his right foot on the left side than Downing. Not sure about Barry, never really watched him.

He really isn't.

Irrelevant really as Scholes won't come out of international retirement.
