in all honesty i think the ball was too far in front of lampard for him to be able to knock it to the side, he only got his toes to it. and if hed have poked it to the side as crouch repeatedly showed in that game, he moves at the pace of a fcuking sloth

gerrard was shite throughout, the only thing he did was hit the bar but that came nowhere near close to evening out all the crap he did.

swp was a good choice it turned out, cant believe he doesnt get more gametime at chelsea, hed be great anywhere else and people wouldnt be underrating him.

king was brilliant at the back, terry didnt do much wrong but king excelled above him anyway.

gazza was awesome tonight as well, with rumours of the 3-5-2 it looked like he had a point to prove to keep his place and he made some superb forward runs and made loads of important interceptions.

carrick disappeared in the second half imo

Terry is allways his 10/10 never has a bad game imo.

player of the match was hard to choice all of them were crap in all honesty, but if i had to choice someone be cole defensive dutys.

i would rather have king and Terry at Cb, better to have a defender who plays with the keeper weekly.

Pathetic. Ask around the world how England plays? Aggressive, fast, full of passion. Where was that? In the last 15 Mins when they realised time was running up they increased the pace a bit.

Apart from the total lack of motivation (nor MacClarens fault I just think the players don't want to play...when they play teams like France, Argentina all of a sudden they play better...) a defensive midfielder was missing. I was surprised McClaren didn't go with a 3-5-2 it would have stopped a lot of the dangerous counter attacks. But when the team passes like a pub team even that won't help much.

Rooney is still way off form and that's noticed in the lack of creativity up front, as with Joe Cole missing.
Crouch surprisingly was one of the better players, even putting in some very good passes.

Don't we have another right back? With all due respect to Neville who has been a very good player over the years but he is too slow for that position. The amount of times they just ran past him...

A SWP or a Lenon should be playing instead of Downing, especially in games where you need to get past a defender or two.

Have to feel sorry for Gerrard, that was probably the 10th time he's hit the woodwork this season...

Overall the team needs someone to kick them up the behind. Whenever the defence has to work down to a poor mistake I wanna see a defender or anybody give someone a rollicking. There's hardly any fire in the team unless the crowd, or the ref gets them upset...cause the manager is definetely not gonna shout their ear off...

Awful performance, only King, Cole and Terry had decent games, the rest were all shocking. Macedonia were better than us, we keep playing like that we'll be lucky to qualify, a team who lost twice to An-fucking-dorra were better than us.

We need Joe Cole back, I have always been a fan of Downing but he really wasn't up to it today. The sad thing is he'll probably play again on Wednesday because Gerrard is suspended.

i would like to see if anything

Robinson
usual 3 nevile,cole, terry etc
King

Swp
Lampard
carrick
and Wayne Bridge

Rooney and Crouch

i would have Bridge ahead of downing, bridge played Left mid before and can do it for England.

Bridge would be no improvement on Downing.

The last time Bridge played left mid for England we drew with Macedonia.

Why? Downing is a better crosser and far more used to that position.

bridge has played there before for England, much better understanding with A.Cole, has done better this year then downing in premiership. It make sense. hes not playing out of Pos. of course hes better at LB but can play Lm.

Btw hes nown to have a good left cross on on him, but did you see one against a weak team today at home? where he should of been easy for him. I didnt.

The cross which eventually led to Neville's miss was a very good one, the free-kick that Lampard headed wide..etc etc.

At left-back, when was the last time Bridge played left mid?
