Crouch vowed to help Rooney
Quote:
Peter Crouch has vowed to help Wayne Rooney get back to top form for England.
Rooney has been struggling in front of goal lately having failed to find the net since the opening day of the season.
Crouch is set to be partnered by Rooney for next week's clash with Macedonia as the Manchester United ace makes his return to the national side after suspension.
Liverpool star Crouch has scored six goals in Steve McClaren's three games in charge so far and the giant striker believes he can take some of the
giant striker believes he can take some of the goalscoring burden off Rooney.
"It is exciting to have Wayne back because he is a top player.
"I think we can form a good partnership if we are asked to. If I am picked to play alongside him, I will do all I can to take some of the burden from him.
"I don't think someone like Wayne Rooney needs any advice from me, but I think I have some of the qualities that will help to bring out the best in him. I am not just about scoring goals.
"I can create for others as well - just like Wayne can."

rooney on form should be no where near starting 11, maybe an impact sub, a much better one the Wallcott.

I agree. He is a great player but you have to pick players based on form and on current form Rooney doesn't deserve a place.

Wayne Rooney believes his poor form this season has arisen as a result of the three-match ban handed down by the FA after the Manchester United star was sent off in a pre-season friendly against Porto.
Rooney has also missed out on competitive action because of the two-match international ban he received after his now infamous stamping incident against Portugal in the World Cup.
This coupled with the lack of competitive action the 20 year-old enjoyed before the World Cup has meant that the striker has started this season poorly and grown some questionable facial hair which Rooney maintains will not be removed until he scores.
Despite trying to look to the future, the former Everton striker remains bitter at the way the FA handled the suspension situation: "It was hard to take," he told the Daily Mirror.
"The FA made their decision and it was very nice of them to support me with a three-game ban. Four if you think that I missed the Ajax friendly too.
"I didn't want to say too much, but I didn't even think it was a red card so I was devastated about it, especially because the start of the season is so important."
A moderate Macedonia side could provide Rooney with a suitable platform to get back on scoring form and with Peter Crouch expected to line out alongside him at Old Trafford on Saturday - in a new 3-5-2 formation - Rooney will be hoping for a fresh start.
