Did i tell you about Lennon or what, the kid is a genius. Trust me i wish he is given a chance this world cup, he would rip past defenders.

-_- you clearly didnt get what i was saying. you sayed this summer i dont think he would go right into the man united squad straight away. hence me saying he would be better of playing for spurs this season. obvious champ over uefa im not a retard.

playing for spurs this coming season then man united makes more sense.

and not everyone wants to play for man united.

i think you find hanuma i did not say he was a bad player. in 30 mins he didnt show he was the "deal" for england this world cup.

and when i say pathetic i mean played "bad"

I got your point, you were saying first team place in UEFA cup >>> squad place in CL.

That might be a fair point under difference circumstances but IMO Lennon would get more than a handful of games at OT.

Noone "played bad" though. Least of all a kid that got the ball twice in 20 minutes in his first top level competitive game ever...which happened to be an international.

thats all well and good hanny, but this is what the kid is going to get in the world cup against better teams than belarus...

hes not going as first choice and is meant to be an impact player...

tbh, all this first game bollocks doesnt wash...

it might be his first full top level competetive game, but in 2 games time, this kid will be at the world cup...

he needs to pick up the pace pretty quickly for the gamble to be a success...

i dont blame the kid though.. not his fault...

its that fuckwit sven gormless for picking him when he clearly isnt ready...

A good point, but I do think you have to account for nerves, experience and the fact that he never really got the ball.

2 or 3 games and several weeks of training with the same players will make a big difference...if it didn't people that know better than your or I would not bother with training atall, they would just pitch up.

When he does play in the World Cup he will be playing with better players and barring the failures of the rest of the side, like last night, he will get the ball more often and be able to prove his worth. Until we see him with the ball we can't pass judgement.

all well and good making excuses for him because hes young, nervous, playing with shite, swamp gas reflecting off venus, but he is going to play against better sides than belarus at the world cup...

and if hes nervous in a b' game against belarus, then he clearly is not ready for the world cup...

Fine, lets do away with the nerves....look beyond the nerves. According to Wenger he has ice pumping through him, so I was wrong he wasn't nervous.

How many times did he get the ball? Twice. Got an impressive shot away and drew a foul after beating 2 players.

Exactly. Fucking nervous? Nervous? If a player is nervous about playing a friendly against Belarus, what chance does he stand if he's called upon to turn things around against Brazil in the World Cup final?

He should have been chasing the ball down, running everywhere, desperate to take his chance and make an impression. He's clearly not ready.

OH OH OOH! It's Carrick you know! Hard to believe it's not Scholes!

You can't say that yet. Give him at least another couple of performances.

I thought the whole point of taking Walcott was that he wouldn't need time to settle in. He could come of the bench for his debut and change a game, put the fear of god into the opposition, and play fearlessly off pure adrenaline.

Look at every talent who breaks through at a young age. They play without any fears, any pressure, as though it is any playground game of football. Walcott clearly didn't do that. He should have thrived last night but instead he floundered.

If he needs time to adjust to his surroundings and become just like any other squad player, then why was Jermaine Defoe not taken?
