ashton
should go to germany ahead of crouch, and if owen isnt fit which he wont be, ashton should start with rooney
and one of gerrard and lampard should be dropped for a holder,
then we can win the thing, and only if we play attackign football

i think thats a pretty good plan but i think the world cups come too soon, if ashton had a few full international caps then id agree completely but i doubt he has the experience...
i think gerrard should be dropped of the 2 if one was dropped cos lampard always seems to play better than gerrard for england altho gerrard is often played out of position, maybe gerrard could play on the left tho with king (if fit) or carrick as a holding mid
problem is sven isnt a brave manager, if owen hargreaves goes to the world cup tho itll pretty much sum him up altho i wouldnt be surprised considering he plays in germany
what about marlon harewood tho, do u reckon he should be pushing for a place in the england squads soon?

gerrard is a better player than lampard, so he should be ahead of him.
harewood is far from good enough, but unliek crouch he is strong and has decent pace
i really do think that ashton would do wonders with rooney, hes not the fastest, but strong, can head the ball, and is a very good finisher.

I'd play Bent ahead of Ashton unless training tells a different story.
He would compliment Rooney bettet even if Ashton is the superior player.

Lampard has had the more productive season....twice as much in fact.
But Gerrard is a better footballer over the course of a single 90 minutes...faster, stronger and generally as good at everything except for hitting the target as regularly (stats will prove this).
I still think that it is entirely possible to see them working together if they BOTH dropped ego's.

seriously?? thats pretty impressive considering last season lampard had more shots OFF target than any other player in the premiership, he takes a hell of a lot of shots
gerrard may be the better complete footballer but i think lampard suits englands style better, i reckon sven should try pushing gerrard to the left (joe cole would have to be dropped which would be a shame but u cant really drop gerrard/lampard/beckham) and then use king as a holding mid

the only way for gerrard and lampard t play together is too change the formation to 352 and allow for a sitter and gerrard and fwank to roam

no way, that would restrict them even more cos thered be one less defender in the 3-5-2 and instead theres still only 1 holding mid, do u mean with wingbacks? bcos who would u drop for a holding mid?
im assuming the team would look like this:
gk-robinson
rwb- g neville
lwb- ashley cole
cb-rio f
cb-terry
cb-king/carragher
cm-beckham
cm-lampard
cm-gerrard
cf-rooney
cf-owen
and beckham wouldnt be a great holding mid cos he cuts lampard and gerrard out of the game with long balls

Keane was never a defensive midfielder and Scholes tracking back was average, but it worked because there was little ego involved, it was selfless, hardworking and intelligent.....if Gerrard and Lampard really wanted they could be the best midfield partnership at this world cup.
Half the problem in the past has been that Gerrard had no discipline (pre Rafa) and Lampard had/has this complex about playing with a defensive minded partner making life simpler for him....no thinking on the job.
When the 2 played together against (can't remember which) Turkey or Austria it worked and allthough Gerrard spent more time sitting both had their turns going forward.....IT CAN WORK!
