Default strength in depth

The legendary Pele called Englands strength in depth into question whilst praising Brazils.

lets take this as the first choice;

...............robinson
neville ferdinand terry a.cole
beckham gerrard lampard j.cole
.............owen rooney

2nd choice?

............kirkland
young carragher king bridge
wright parker carrick downing
.........defoe smith

not bad

3rd choice?

................green
johnson campbell upson baines
pennant barton murphy lennon
...........bent crouch

scraping barrell a bit, but still undoubted quality and room for improvement

4th choice

..............carson
taylor brown dawson warnock
o'neill reo-coker mccann thomas
.........heskey beattie

ok definite barrell scrapers...but again still youngsters that have real potential.

I spose my point is that we do have remarkable strength in depth...and remarkable youth too.

Add that to the fact that I know of three prodigous young strikers in Sturridge, Sinclair and obviously Walcott coming through...
