England under 21 *annoyed*
RIGHT im saying this now because i was Really annoyed that england got cut out of the tornie to qualify for the finals , But what has annoyed me is the introudctuon of ppl who just been playing for england team like bent and richardson, When Ashton and Milner are much better and know the england under 21 team better
Its because of richardson france got a penalty and he played on left made at least 8 fouls that game, i was starting to like this player then he produces a crap game, and gets us knocked out when Milner who play wonderful first leg, is on bench,
and ashton england under 21 gorup leading goal scorer on bench? please
I know bent and richardson ar good players just they got picked in the squard for 2 games to help them beat france and they didnt produce...
But bent could of socred if he didnt hit post so ill give him that,,,
rant over In summary - Why do Under 21 league nation try to strength squads for big games with players that have played for national team, when they could pick player that have been through the group stages

peter taylor is an excellent lower league manager and that is all - look at what he has done at hull
the rant at bent is ridiculous seeing as he has played 15 u21 games and scored 9 goals.

this is one of the most talented u21 sides in years...far more talented than the germans that won the group stage....it was shambolic that he couldn't get them through.
and the style of football he made them play was dreadful...unintelligent direct play.
its not as tho the defensive organisation was any good....a sign of their talent that they even got to the playoffs and came close to knocking france out.
a team with less talent but more intelligence and a much better manager.

if you win the group you still dont qualify automatically, both the winners and the runners-up in the groups go into a random play-off. we would have won the group as well if carson hadnt ****ed up in the 93rd against germany
we were unlucky to come up against one of the best u21 teams in the world in france as well

we had more experience and more talent...admittedly no genius, but more talent overall.
taylor is average and will never be anything other than a succesful manager in the lower leagues.

Couldn't let this thread slide by without giving a mention to Gary O'Neil, the outgoing England captain who's now too old to play for his country after this qualifying series finished. He's done a great job for the U21s, hopefully he'll make the step up to the senior squad in a couple of years. Good luck to Nigel Reo-Coker and the rest of his lads (he's the new captain I believe) as they're a very talented bunch, it bodes well for the future of English football.
