i think overall there were signs that this system could yet work, however there were also enough signs to show that it wont be the same personnel.
whats for sure is that rooney's best position is no.10 and he has become our best player (why oh why cant we have one more please)......
if rooney's best position is no.10 then we must play with a front two OR put Rooney on the right.
for the moment i would like to see rooney on the right and cole/swp on the left (swp does have a left foot)....but mainly in a free role.
the problem with gerrard and lampard is that Beckham was not delivering it short to them, rather he was always looking for the killer ball....this is something that WILL get worked out...after all it was only becks first game at the position for england.
and please, remember just how well wales played defensively...i know england showed ineptitude at times...but it wasnt that draedful.
