Default bring teddy back for one last show

him and wayne rooney are the only players in england that can play off a front man.

he hasnt lost any pace since his last stint with england and would not be required to play every minute of every game.....

imo there is no other forward in england that has his vision.....he can still crack a ball in from anywhere, is a great penalty taker and would give so much valued experience to the side.

would certainly be a better leader than all but say jt and carragher in the england side.

I've never really judged players on their looks though, and very few footballers are anything but ugly.

If they only played footballers because of their looks than Ronaldinho would never have got a game.

As for Teddy, I think hes past his time, although he might *just might* make the bench. Rooney and Defoe are my two favourites, not sure whos to go on the bench out of Owen, Vassell, Heskey, and maybe *just maybe* the possibility of Sheringham.

I'd bring him back. He's never been a player with pace, so him having little of it makes no difference to me.

imo its logic.

owen has a back up with defoe (altho i think it should be vice-a-versa)....but rooney doesnt have anyone that could anywhere near fill in his creativity other than Teddy.

Yeah, alright I'll go with that. To be honest, when you lose Shearer and Cole he probably is just about still the 4th/5th best forward in the country still. Rooney, Owen, Defoe and then a toss up between Sheringham, Smith, Crouch, Heskey and Johnson...god our reserves are getting poor if we're turning to someone who'll be 40 by the WC...

Mistake, scored against blackburn first day.

But what people are saying is right about no rooney back up. Crouch i will never rate, never have done and think 7 million was a joke, Smith is now a midfielder, and heskey has shown on more than 20 occasions he isnt good enough for england. There is hope for rooneys partner, in owen, defoe, then andy johnson, darren bent and dean ashton, its just two are young, and two are in the championship.

I'd pick him, but who knows what a full season of premiership football will do for his legs, it may be too much for him.

well for me i think alan smith has to be picked for england because he could provide a bit of strength and a target up front as he links the play quite well.

so teddy, rooney, owen, defoe, smith would be my selection now.

wonder how much it will change by the end of the season.
