No. It doesn't take an English manager to do the job. Face it, all the English managers are shít or unproven.

OH OH OOH! It's Carrick you know! Hard to believe it's not Scholes!

OK, it has been proved that a manager does not have to be of the country that he manages to do well, look at Greece for example.

Still, I strongly believe that in Englands case we would benefit from having an English manager or at least someone who's not affraid to show their teeth and rip their players to pieces for putting in a show like that of the other night.

Sven is little more than a shy, unadventurous lemon. He's not got the gutts to really use the obvious flair that this team has, he's got no vision, no passion for the shirt, and certainly never seems to have a plan B if things go wrong. This is why Englands best team (not squad) for many a year will be wasted until he goes.

If we make the final of the World Cup (I don't even mean win) then I'll gladly eat a dogshat sandwich...

McClaren with Psycho as his no2, bloody good call!!!

I wuld personally keep Sven I like him. We have a pretty good record with him but I don't like the fact he likes to defend when we go 1-0 against a strong team. The nam France comes to mind....

But if i was to appoint a new England manager hmmm...... no idea really

Yes, but I never said it was the case for all countries - for a country such as England, however, with such a proud footballing history, passionate supporters like no other, and who should be far more successful than they are, only an Englishman could understand how much it matters to the fans to win games. Sven clearly doesn't, and it shows. The manager has to want to win as badly as the fans do, because that transmits to the players - Sven's Swedish, and so (rather understandably if you discount the fact that he is managing them) couldn't give a toss if England win or not, just like most Englishmen wouldn't give a toss about Sweden.

if you could pick any manager in the world to manage a national team it would have to be a toss up between jose/rafa and scolari (a fat ****....but a superb international track record)

of all the english managers currently available i would want ian dowie....end of.

Jose Mourinho? Some of us were being realistic. There is more chance of Rio Ferdinand managing England at the next WC than there is of Jose doing it.

i was only being honest

i'm actually happy with sven but if he was to go then jose would be my first choice

sven said himself that heis record in freindlys is crap

and i think there has just been a magor over reaction to this defeat

all will be better when we beat the welsh

@ sheringham....he will become a good coach or manager to be fair, but not England manager at this stage.

none of those english people will manage england i dont think...maybe McClaren? Peter Taylor again?

Aidy Boothroyd in 5-10 years after he takes watford to the premier!

From the recent English performance, of losing to Australia 3-1, Denmark 3-1 and 4-1, losing to France 2-1 both goals in the last 5 minutes, pathetic draw 2-2 with Macedonia and all the other poor games they've played, it's well overdue a new coach is needed.

I've never seen such boring football played by a team with so much potential, and this coming from Englands biggest overseas fan.

Svens tactics: Hope to score a goal, once its scored no player leaves the defending half...*yawn* it's as boring for the viewer as much as it is tactically stupid to be on the defensive after 30 minutes.

Keegan and Hoddle for ****'s sake why are people talking about them, does no-one remember how terrible those England teams were? I don't see a problem with Sven, I think it's ridiculous that people in this country talk about us getting to a world cup final. The expectation should be to qualify and maybe to pass the group stage - from there anything is possible but it's a bonus. No-one should have realistic expectations about any team reaching the final at this stage in time.
