No he's not. Looks like he'll never make a decent striker. I think he want to play for Man U reserves anyway.

Which is good.

No, Bent has shown he can score goals at U21 level (what is it about 8 in 10 games?), while he may have been fast-tracked into the side due to his brace against Sunderland, it's a friendly, may as well experiment.

Good old Sven, we could do with the £500k we'll receive if he plays

the point of a friendly is usually to try and injure regular first teamers then destroy some players spirit by not playing them.

No, i just meant in terms of when he moved to norwich, i just think if he got a couple more goals, which he has the talent to in the premiership, he should have been picked. I know bent has only played the one game, but if ashton had scored a good amount since he moved, like Andy johnson (who he is better than as well), then he maybe would have been picked.

Not true. Bent would have been in the U21 squad, Taylor himself has said all the other players should look at what he's achieved and have it as their target over this season. If Eriksson wanted Ashton instead of Bent he'd just have asked for him instead, they aren't different countries FFS, he just wanted Bent.

no....

Ashton WAS picked as a definate for the under 21s and i dont think the Eriksson is allowed to call up a player already picked to play in a competitive match

which means .. Ashton wasnt called up

then again Ashton probably wouldnt of been called up anyway

He can pick anyone he wants. Bent would definately have been in the U21's and more than likely would've started.

It does take the ****, even if darren bent is good enough for england, sven seems to be basing it simply on one game against, less be honest, a championship standard opponent. He wasn't even top scorer in the championship last season, ashton was before he moved, and ellington finished higher, so if wigan played sunderland and ellington wasn't moving and played and scored, would he have been picked instead??
