Haven't got the slightest knowledge of it?
What kind of standard is it at and what scope for growth does it have?

I'm Canadian, my dad is Dominican but Puerto Plata isn't the place to see soccer their. Of course football is a distant 2nd to baseball there. You have to go to places or area's that have "pro" teams. I'm sure most people would be shocked to know that the DR has a flurishing "pro" league. Its like any other league, bottom 2 teams are relagated and top 2 teams from the 2nd Div. are promoted.
2004/2005 season table 1st Division
1. Deportivo Pantoja (Santo Domingo)(champions)
2. Barcelona FC (Santo Domingo)
3. Don Bosco (Moca)
4. San Cristobal
5. Domingo Savio (La Vega) (relegated)
6. Jarobocoa (relegated)
2nd Division North Zone
1. Moca B
2. Castillo
3. Puerto Plata
4. Mao
5. Salcedo
2nd Division South Zone
1. La Romana
2.UCE (San Pedro de Macoris)
3. Flamingo de Mendoza (team composed of Hatian players)
4. Sporting
5. Bayaguana

Lots of teams have good set ups in the Caribbean, I watch it sorta to see which players we may pick up for the MLS or something, like Khano Smith and stuff like that, but its hard to really "follow it." Some good players in the Caribbean, if they ever found away to make more quality players like the top players produced (which is hard due to the size of the islands) they could really make CONCACAF at least semi-respectable

After a 2:1 win at home against Jamaica, Haiti has successfully won Group H and have secured a place in the final round of the 2008 CONCACAF Under-23 Championship (Official Qualifier for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China). Haiti will represent the Caribbean alongside Cuba, which won Group G in Trinidad & Tobago last week.

Jamaica, Grenada reach semifinals of Caribbean Championship; Trinidad eliminated
Eight-time champion Trinidad won't be going to the Gold Cup
Photos courtesy of digicelfootball.com
12/7/2008 - TRELAWNY, Jamaica -- Eric Vernan scored for the second straight game and Jamaica drew 1:1 with Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday, clinching a place in the semifinals of the Digicel Caribbean Championship and eliminating the eight-time champion Soca Warriors.
Grenada claimed the other semifinal berth from Group B, beating Barbados 4:2 with three goals by Kithson Bain to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time.
Trinidad had never failed to reach the semifinals of the Caribbean Championship and had missed only two of nine Gold Cups.
Jamaica was dealt a blow in the 34th minute when Demar Phillips appeared to injure his right thigh had to be replaced by Rafe Wolfe.
But Vernan gave the Reggae Boyz the lead within a minute after the second-half kickoff, sending a right-footed shot from near the right byline off the far post into the goal. It was Jamaica’s first shot on goal in the game, but enough to send it to the final four.
Errol McFarlane equalized for Trinidad in the 80th, capitalizing when Jamaica keeper Donovan Rickets fumbled a cross. Trinidad was the only team from the Caribbean to advance to the final round of World Cup qualifying, but because the tournament falls outside the international fixture calendar, had to play with a largely domestic squad.
In the earlier game, Grenada took only 11 minutes to jump ahead of Barbados. Keeper Adrian Chase hit a weak goal kick to Marcus Julien, who quickly fed Bain close to the net.
Julien doubled the lead in the 20th with a header and Bain scored the eventual winner six minutes later, winning the ball back at the top of the area after giving it away and scoring inside the far post.
Riverie Williams scored a pair seven minutes apart to try to rally Barbados, but Bain added his finale to send the Barbadians home with their third straight loss.
With Cuba having already clinched its place, Sunday’s results left only one berth in the semifinals and the last place from the Caribbean for the Gold Cup undecided.
