Columbus Crew 4, Kansas City Wizards 0
The Columbus Crew began their preseason schedule in dominant fashion Saturday, rolling to a 4-0 victory against the Kansas City Wizards in their first scrimmage of 2008.
Steven Lenhart got the scoring started for Columbus in the 27th minute, banging home the rebound from an Eddie Gaven shot. Guilherme So extended the lead to 2-0 by putting home a deflection in the 53rd minute while George Josten and Ricardo Pierre-Louis added the match's final tallies in the 80th and 82nd minutes, respectively.
The scrimmage, part of training camps for both squads in Bradenton, Fla., was conducted in three 30-minute sessions. The Wizards will next take on D.C. United on Tuesday, while the Crew will meet the Chicago Fire on Wednesday.
