Crew general manager Mark McCullers made it clear who he considers the Crew’s biggest rival.
"I hate D.C.," he said yesterday during the team’s monthly media luncheon. "D.C. is the team that I want to beat worse than any other team in this league. Our staff knows that because we talk about it all the time. It is my own personal vendetta."
The Crew will play the first of four games with D.C. United on Saturday in Crew Stadium. United leads the Eastern Conference with 14 points. The Crew is in third place with 10 points. "It’s early in the season, but it’s still a very important game for us this weekend," McCullers said. He spent nine years working for the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission before joining the Crew in 1998.
